I found more but didn't want to hog the bandwidth with stuff. Besdies, what I posted seemed the most pertinent and direct.

I am glad my posting didn't trigger anything inappropriate or undesired in feelings. I had a slight concern on that - the fear of the unknown...

No quite the contrary. It was lovely to read that sweet tribute. I saved it to show to nephew and DH.

Just got off the phone with my homeowner's insurance company, they will be sending someone out to check out my claim. Here is a pic of the tree that crashed this morning. I talked to my other neighbor and he has already called a tree service to come out and remove the tree. Luckily, no one was injured!!!

I've got to get back to work as soon as I fix myself a protien shake.

Will have to ketchup later

OMG

Andy that was a huge tree!!! Glad you were all safe. I think I would hit the rum instead of a protein shake.

So...

Best Buys is clearancing a bunch of TVs and AV receivers today... and I selected a HDTV to get. It is NOT a true HDTV in that the resolution is only 480i. The normal HDTV standard is 720p... and the highest resolution HDTV is 1080p.... however there is very limited content at 1080p available. Only HD-DVDs are capable of putting out 1080p... and broadcast HD is at 720p. After what I have seen - my interest in HD DVD is minimal as I would have to be prepared to repurchase EVERYTHING that interests me on DVD as a HD DVD... and I am NOT interested in that. Plus virtually everything of interest to me was NOT filmed in 1080p resolution. Only the latest and future films will be on 1080p. Having upconverted films is NOT what I want for an HD DVD.

So... this TV I'm about to run out for - I am waiting for my spouse to get ready... I gave her 3 more minutes til I was gonna go... so I was gonna use this as a 2nd TV to watch stuff in the family room. Last year that TV went out... and so - this TOshiba I have them holding for me is a 16x9 screen - CRT TUBE - so it is bulky, heavy and uses a fair amount of power. Aside from that... it is dirt cheap. They originally sold it for $599 at Best Buys.... and the manfg web page suggest an 799 list - and on the web the best price I culd find was $524. But they are clearancing it for $399... plus they will give a $200 store credit to boot. And I negotiatied with them and god the store credit increased to $250! SO my net price is only $149! At that price it's a steal. The replacement bulbs for my 57" Epson HDTV cost $275! Here I'm getting an entire HDTV for $149 in 30" size which included the ATSC high def tuners. Only thing is I don't think I can receive any broadcast TV as we live in a plateau area that's pretty far away from the broadcast antennas.

Oh well... time to go. I'm using store credit to buy thte thing - so it will really cost me nothing out of pocket to pick up... what a hoot
!

So I got my TV... and my dear spouse reminded me our fridge is 18 years old. Seems to be going strong but she suspects it is on its' last legs even though I can't tell. So - they had a lot of fridges on a tremendous discount today too. I suggested we just buy one if we can find one she's happy with and we'll put the new one into service and retire the old one as an excess capacity one to be put in thte laundry room where we keep a freezer. Of course, the only ones who will really be happy with this developement are the folks at Costco. <chuckles>

On another point... tonight on returning home our dog reaffirmed his namesake (Sugar) as he made a mess of the kitchen in the proces of stealing some of the kids' chocolate coins, a granola bar and a chocolate fruit cake my spouse just brought home today! Alicia is stomping through the house on the warpath chanting that the dog has been naughty. She's now grumping to the dog to "go outside"... and naturally he's ignoring him. He only listens to me... oh, it seems he just went outside.

At any rate, he's a sweet dog... get it? SWEET?

OMG, Andy . . glad everyone made it through alright! The good news is that you'll have firewood for the rest of the winter . . .

Tree.gif

Andy....

... it looks as if the tree hit the rain gutter. Narrowly missing the house/building. A tree that size looks as if it could have brought an enormous amount of damage to someone (not sure if that's your place or the neighbors'). And you're right... the main thing is no one was under that thing when it came down!

Just wanted to check in before checking out . . . need sleep.

We did go see the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Comic Musical. The first half was hilarious. We loved the audience participation. However, the 2nd half got a bit too risque for our two boys (DS 10 & DS12). I think the entire song about a certain male body part at it's finest was over the top. It just wasn't funny . . the laughs just died out. However, DH and DS12 went to release another raccoon afterward. DH wanted to know what DS12 thought of the song. DS12 thought it was about an ELECTION . . .:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I love the innocence of a child!!

It was a funny lampoon on adolesence, but it wasn't for younger children . . .still haven't talked with our friends who took their three daughters (ages 11 & under) .. ummm

What a night . . off to bed for me!

 ..it seem we all have hit a skid or two the last day.

hoping best wishes for those with concerns over family members

So here's something new - sort of a double mystery.

We sent in a Foreman grill because it failed under warrenty. They emailed that a replacement had been sent to us ack in January - and the tracking number said it was delivered on January 31st. On February 21st we noticed it had not shown up - and that's when we checked the tracking number to see when it should have shown up. SO just 3 or 4 days ago we reported it missing to UPS. And they said they would send a claim request back to Salton. Well - guess what... it showed up today? That almost sounds too quick for Salton to have reshipped one... and my spouse says the box said something about having been delivered on the 31st of January. So what's it doing showing up on our doorstep today in March?

Now the same thing sort of was happening with Sharper Image. I had purchased a pair of binoculars off their auction site - and it never showed up. Also it's been a month with that. Well - I emailed them late last week - and today this showed up on our doorstep (delivered).

What gives?

Maybe you will get two??:cool1: :cool1:
UPS is terrible here. If I have to sign for a package, it is still left at the doorstep behind a shrub.:confused3

Since everyone seemed to enjoy old Disney pictures yesterday, I thought I would drag out my first experience with Small World. No it was not in California or Florida but New York. Here are a couple of pictures from the 1964 Worlds Fair that produced Small World, Carousel of Progress and the Grand Canyon Dinosaur portion of the railroad.

Untitled-2.jpg

I have loved your pics!!! These are great!!!!

In my opinion -- married priests -- of course! Female priests -- fantastic! Vent all you want . . .

:thumbsup2 Although I know I'm the only one in my family that feel that way.
Here's another pic of the neighbor's house behind mine. They "did" have a canopy off the back of their house, it is destroyed as well as their privacy fence. Looks like we have some cleaning up to do this weekend. It got up to near 60* here today. After all the rain earlier, the sun is now shining bright.

That "was/is" my chainlink fence!!! If the tree had fallen towards our house, it would have landed on Angelina's bedroom roof. :scared1:

Since Hazel is away, I have to go pick up Angelina from school, I can't wait to see what she has to say when she sees the mess in our backyard.

Thank goodness no one got hurt.:grouphug:

So before I check out for the evening...

I think its' time for another round of 7 questions for this weekend....

woman-question.gif

SEVEN QUESTIONS....

1]. TWO PART QUERY.... Given a choice would you choose living with excess HEAT, COLD or HUMIDITY? Or name your preferred environment. Given a choice - what would be the LAST environment of choice [least desired aspect] from the preceeding options?

2]. TWO PART QUERY.... Who's your favorite HERO? And what about your favorite Archvillan?

3]. What's your all time favorite TV show (or movie if you have no favorite shows).

4]. Did you brush and floss your teeth this morning? And what about last nite?

5]. Whats' the most charming or thought provoking thing you have seen, witnessed or to have happened in the past 48 hours?

6]. If you could wake up tomorrow and relive any one day from your past... and relive it with possible changes ... but returning to the present would NOT change... what day would you like to relive? It's just pure fantasy.

7]. If you could change one thing about your home - what would it be?

There is a huge viewing area called Ports of Call. It is a quaint little fishing village with shops and restaurants. There is decking all along that you can watch the boats go by. We went here with about 500 other Disers when the Magic was here in 2005. My parents came down to wave us off when we set sail in July.

This is from Deck 10 down to one of the areas at Ports of Call.

This is what the view is like from the dock to the ship.

I was one of the people at Port O' Call. Although I can't spot myself in that photo. Here are some pics from that day:

How about the Grand Canyon then?

One day soon I want to go here - as I've never had the pleasure. And now that the kids are getting older the time may be here soon for them to take in and REMEMBER the experience. They;ve just built some kind of glass observation point to check out the view too!
