A trip to WDW w/NO kids? Hubba Hubba! Wink Wink! UPDATE: EXTRA, EXTRA!!! Pg 158

I completely borrowed this idea from Tim (you know who you are). I was dabbling with a song. I'm completely poking fun at myself. (which I rather enjoyed :lmao: ) I don't think mine is quite as good as his, but I'll let my audience be the judge.

To the tune of "Belle" (well not perfectly but you get the gist) I had to separate it into the different sections so I labeled them....

[ crowd:] Look there she goes that girl is so peculiar
I wonder if she's feeling well
Woulda thought she’s such a wiz
But her nose stuck in the DIS
What a puzzle to the rest of us….cherbear

[Me:] Oh, isn't this amazing?
It's my favorite part because you'll see
Here's where I met my husband
But he won't discover I’m crazy…til Disney!

[ crowd:] Now it's no wonder that her name means "crazy"
Her plans have got no point to them
But after that wild plan
I'm afraid she’ll kick the can
Very diff'rent from the rest of us
She's nothing like the rest of us
Yes, diff'rent from the rest of us…cherbear

[Mike:] Right from the moment when I met her, saw her
I said she's a hot one, I can tell
Here in the south there’s only she
Who’s a perfect match for me
So I'm settling down and gonna marry her

[Me:] Look there he goes
Isn't he dreamy?
Mickey Mouse,
Oh he's so cute
Be still my heart
I'm hardly breathing
He's such a tall, dark, big eared handsome mouse

[ crowd:] Look there she goes a girl who's strange but “special”
A most peculiar Disser now
Her pre-trip is so-so
But then she’ll get to go
She’ll bring some pictures back,
They’ll say she really is a funny girl….
Cherbear!

This probably put me in WEIRDO category but I don't care! :rotfl2:
I hope it makes y'all laugh.

And if that's not enough...here's a (very) random picture:
100_2277.jpg

I hope everyone knows what these are. Anyone who hasn't had them...let's just say we'll have to do a dis meet at my house next season. LOL

NEXT: Full Itinerary re-cap

I recently got back in touch with an old friend, and I found out she works at DisneyLand Hong Kong! She worked at WDW shortly after hurricane Katrina, but moved to Hong Kong shortly after that. Her contract is almost up, so I honestly hope she goes back to WDW.
I'll post a few pics. She is Belle in the show they have there called "The Golden Mickeys" where, if I gather correctly, many different characters from Disney movies are on the same stage.

Here she is in the show

I just think these pictures are gorgeous. So I hope you'll enjoy them. Incidentally, she said I'd make a good "Alice" from Alice in Wonderland. What do you think?

(((Oh geez, I just googled "Alice in Wonderland" for images, and one of the images that came up was a cross-dressing Alice. Niiiiiice.))

Hi! So glad to have you along! (You're right about their thread being famous) I didn't know what to do with myself when TimandLesley's report came to an end! So I figured I'd start my own. :)

Thank you. I found some pics of both my dogs together and I'll have to post it later.
Yes, those were CRAWFISH. (and I don't want anyone to think that is our house...that was old picture of Mike's apartment back in college. I'd NEVER put crawfish on my coffeetable. ) Have you ever had them? Oh, to die for!

I'm really glad you converted your boyfriend :woohoo: And I'm so glad you can see through the "boring parts" and see what a fun girl I am!

I was thinking I could probably tell some stories from my 2001 trip when we went with my Grandma and Grandpa (mom's parents...who have been DIVORCED for at least 30 years!) That would get a LOT of laughs. I don't really want to get into all of that unless anyone expresses interest on wanting to hear (read) about it. It will take up a LOT of the thread (they did a lot of crazy things). Should I tell?

LOVE THE SONG!! and you are just adorable, I think you'd make a very nice Alice! And that is a definite compliment since even though he won't admit it, my 7 year old has a HUGE crush on Alice ;)

And I think you NEED to tell the stories from the 2001 trip! That would be tons of fun..After all, to have a good TR you must include real life detail!

I came back to post the re-cap I typed up at lunch and was surprised to find a post! Thank you for the compliment!

I think I will start writing up some tid bits soon. For now I'm going to post what I wrote at lunch. up next...

So since the actual itinerary got broken up into several posts, I want to recap here (with *MUCH* less detail):

Day 1 (arrival day) Sept 15th
- Arrival time TBD
- Staying at All Star Sports in preferred room
- Use 2 CS credits for dinner?

Day 2 (First full day)
MAGIC KINGDOM

- Catch the bus and arrive at MK 30 min. b4 rope drop (which means 8:30)
- Have a crazy good time
- Eat counterservice for lunch at either Cosmic Ray’s or Pecos Bill - 2 CS Credits (UG also said Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station is good—anyone agree?)
- Break in the afternoon if we feel we need it
- Dinner at California Grill 5:40 PM – 4 TS Credits
- See Wishes (either from CG or the MK park)
- Possibly go to Pleasure Island

Day 3 (Sept 17th)
MGM STUDIOS DAY

- Catch the bus and be at MGM 30 min. b4 opening (8:30)
- Go wild!
- Eat an early/light CS lunch at Starring Rolls Café or Backlot Express (still wondering if we’ll actually need to use 2 CS credits here, or if we can get away with one....any thoughts?)
- Early dinner at Sci-Fi Dine in at 4:05 PM – 2 TS Credits (still want a later time; subject to change)
- Probably take a short break
- Evening EMH for MGM!!

Day 4 (Sept 18th)
EPCOT

- Opens at 8 AM for EMH
- If we are not too sleepy, catch the bus to make EMH
- Have a blast in Future World
- Have lunch at Electric Umbrella, Tangierine Café(Morocco), or Yakitori House (Japan) (any other suggestions?) -- 2 CS credits
- Tour the WS
- Possibly take an afternoon break
- Dinner is planned for 7:10 at Les Chefs de France, though I’m still trying to get Le Cellier. – 2 TS Credits
- Watch Illuminations (if not, than tomorrow)
- Head back to the hotel with the masses
- Possibly Pleasure Island if we haven’t been there yet

Day 5 (Sept 19th)
ANIMAL KINGDOM

- Catch the bus and be at AK 30 min before opening (8:30)
- Have a relaxing BUT exciting time at AK
- Have lunch at our absolute FAVORITE Disney CS (so far)—Flame Tree BBQ – 2 CS Credits
- AK has EMH this evening (so it’s open until 8 PM)
- At about 6 we’ll hop to Epcot (unless we’re ready before the regular closing time)
- Dinner at 7:20 at the Garden Grill. Yay! Mickey and Chip and Dale! -- 2 TS Credits
- If we didn’t see Illuminations the night before, we’ll stay this night to watch.
- Go back to the hotel and take a dip in the pool

Day 6 (Sept 20th)
WHATEVER DAY

- Now that we’ve had 4 full days in the parks, now we have a day where we can return to the parks where we want to “repeat-ride”, and/or go to Typhoon Lagoon (Did BB the last 3 visits to WDW)
- For the morning, I'm leaning toward getting to Typhoon Lagoon at 10, doing a couple of rides, and relaxing in the lazy river
- Maybe have lunch with my Grandpa (and relatives from Philly who I haven’t seen in a LONG time) somewhere. 2 CS credits
- Dinner at Spoodles for 5:10 (subject to change) -- 2 TS Credits
- Go to Downtown Disney

Day 7 (Sept 21st) Departure day
-I wish I had more time! We’re going to do what we can (I’m already 90% sure we’ll have an afternoon flight) before it’s time to go. I’ll do everything in my power to make the last day as magical as possible! I would love to see the MK and Epcot again. No ADR’s on this day, so we don’t have to work around any time schedule but the flight. Such a sad, sad day.

Well that’s my trip in a
nutshell.gif

The detailed versions of all of this are included in Posts: #18, #23, #29, #38, #40 (beginning on page 2 of this thread and finishing on page 3 of the thread)

Any comments, tips, or suggestions? I would just LOVE to hear from you all!

53 days! :cool1:

NEXT: Storytime!!! Disney 2001 rewind: Part 1 - The saga of the Thermostat!

Looks good chica! Looooooove the song! (who is Tim??) AND...I think you would make an excellent Alice!!! :teeth:

I just got home from the chiroquacker, and as I was digging around in the boxes in the back of my brain, I just couldn’t believe what I found. Just to name a few, one box labeled “Embarassments,” another labeled “Note to Self,” and yet another labeled “Bacon incidents.” That last one I thought could mean Kevin Bacon?, but when I opened the box I realized I was wrong. You’ll find what I mean out soon enough…

(oh, did I mention I just took some hydrocodone for my back pain? :rotfl: I’m not a druggie, it’s just that my back flared up on me again a couple of days ago….was doing better since my accident in March--yes, MARCH--but not today….ouch!! :headache: )

Coming up...stories of Disney past!

I promised some stories, so I’m going to start now:

As far as embarrassments go…whew, we had a LOT of them on the 2001 trip. My parents, sister Tracey (19, now), one of my girl friends, grandmother, and grandfather all were on this trip. Keep in mind my grandma and grandpa had been divorced for YEEEEEEARS. My grandmother was living with my aunt and uncle at the time, and my aunt (who likes her alone time) SUGGESTED she go along---basically pawning her off, and my grandmother didn’t refuse. My grandparents weren’t in any way “enemies,” but they hadn’t been in close quarters together in quite some time.

Here are some pics of the cast (I didn't have any singular ones so just bear with me):

Mom and Dad

Grandpa(with my mom and I)

And here's my sister and I (was taken in Destin)
MeTraceyPier2.jpg

sorry, none of my friend on this computer (but she wouldn't want me to post them anyway)

On with the program....
We stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort, in 2 rooms next to each other. Of course the grandparents couldn’t sleep in the same room, so we worked it out so they’d be separated and everyone else would be happy…..or would we?
Room #1: Mom & Dad in 1 bed, Grandpa in the other
Room #2: Me & my friend in 1 bed, Grandma and Tracey in the other (Disappointment #1: Tracey griping because she has to sleep in a bed with Grandma. I tell her I’d sleep in the bed with Grandma if it was HER friend with us on the trip. She finally sucks it up and is “okay” with the situation.)

The beginning of the madness:
So, the second night of the trip my sister ended up squirming SO MUCH that Grandma kicked her out of the bed---yes, literally kicked her out! :sad2: My sister went next door and my mom, not wanting to tick her mother off, let my sister into the room and Dad voluntarily finished his slumber on the FLOOR! I think I was half asleep when all of this was going on. Anywho, I think they got a cot for the rest of the trip. Everyone was furious with my Grandma.
Meanwhile, my grandmother was busy trying to turn the room into a real live FURNACE! Seriously, GRAB a BLANKET, woman. Luckily, the thermostat was right next to my bed (to the left). I’d be laying there about to fall asleep, and here she’d come tip-toeing to the side of the bed to turn it up. And I’d have one eye open watching her. As soon as she went back to her bed, I’d reach my left hand up there and put it right back down where it was. I was pretty sly about it. I think this may have went on every night of the trip. LOL :rotfl:

There’s just so many stories that I wasn’t sure which way I was going to start off, and that one seemed appropriate b/c it deals with the room situation. However, I have MUCH BETTER ones to come.

Next up….DVC presentation…and the first bacon incident occurs!

Get your popcorn ready! popcorn::

Thanks! I'm getting my first gift card cashed out today!! Do you need the link?

I would rather stab myself in the eyeball than sleep in the same bed as my grandmother. She has perpetual old person gas! :teeth:

Okay! Since you came over to my TR, I'm here now. I've just read your first post and have to go back to read the rest, but I wanted to make sure I posted and am subbed!!! :thumbsup2

Haha! I don't know if my grandmother has gas...or do all of them have it? :confused3 Either way I was glad to be the one with the friend on the trip so I didn't have to sleep in the bed with her. :goodvibes

HAHA! Gramma and the thermostat. I can't wait to hear more!!!
 Makes me laugh just thinking about it. Glad you're enjoying it. New story up next!

NEWSFLASH!
:woohoo:
Ok I have some GREAT news....and some GREATER news!
The great news is: I just cashed out for my very first Disney Gift Card at SunshineRewards! I can't wait to get it in the mail!! (it will be at least 2 weeks :sad2: but hopefullly I can hold myself together) They were running a special (cash out 24 points for a $25.00 Disney GC) so I was trying SO HARD to get to $25 even though I've been a member less than a week! I had 23.96 and was waiting and waiting for my last .50 offer to credit and it finally did!

Ok...the GREATER news!
Today, in the mail, I got something from the IRS! Immediately my brain went :headache: "Uh oh...what is this?!" I opened it, and it said:

"Our records show you didn't cash your original refund check for tax year 2005. The original refund check was for [insert significant amount of money here] and was dated Apr. 21, 2005. The check isn't good after one year. Please destroy it if you still have it.
We've replaced the check with a new refund check...."

I think I can stop there. WHAT? The IRS giving me money that I *apparently* forgot about?? WOW! I don't know how I would have not cashed my refund check. Maybe due to Hurricane Katrina?? I just can't figure it out. Oh well I got money!! Let's just say it's not enough to pay off the vacation (because I didn't own a house back then so it was chump change compared to what I will get at the end of the year)...but nonetheless, it's money I didn't expect to get so... :woohoo:

I can't figure out how it happened, but obviously I didn't need the money as much then as I do now. :lmao:

:dance3:

Well after that excitement (and having to reboot my computer)...I have the next installment of...Let's call this "Adventures with Grandma!" Rewind back to the summer of 2001.....[insert clouds of smoke]...with Grandma, PawPaw, etc. (this is a long one, but I swear it's funny!)

So, on what was supposed to be our relaxing “do what we want” kinda day, my grandfather scheduled us all to attend a DVC presentation, for which we’d all receive free CS meal vouchers. We grumbled a bit, and then he said “we’ll be picked up in a limo at 11:00, and then we’ll just see a short presentation, and once we’re done they’ll drop us back off and we can go wherever we want to have lunch!” We all just went along with it, thinking, ‘we didn’t have anything planned today anyway, so why not?’.
After having breakfast in the quick service rest., we walked around the hotel enjoying the scenery, did a little souvenir shopping in the gift shop, and hung out in the room a little.
When it neared 11:00 we all went to the front area to wait for our “limo.”
We waited……………and waited…………..and waited.....No limo. No nothing. Around 11:30, up pulls our DVC transportation-----a big ole van...from this point we’ll call it the “limo-van” as that’s what we called it, poking fun at my grandpa. I’m sure he just heard wrong (or he's just crazy), but he sure hyped it up a lot, and we REALLY thought a limo was coming to pick us up. Well no dice, so we get in this limo-VAN, and are quietly riding to the DVC place…..trying to act “rich” so to speak. (We did the same thing when visiting the Grand Floridian last year…lol). A few minutes pass, when all of a sudden…………….

(cont. from previous post)

So all is well, and then:

Grandma speaks up….

And what does she say, you ask?...

Well first, she reaches into her purse…..

And says…..

"OH GIRRRRRRRLS…I SAVED THIS PIECE OF BACON FROM BREAKFAST, IF ANYONE WANTS IT!” We all collectively tried to ignore her, thinking she’d give up and put it back in her purse, and that’s when she held the bacon up higher and asked again! We all yelled “NO!” and she put it back in her purse. Here we are, trying to act like we can actually AFFORD something like the DVC, and Grandma is saving ONE piece of bacon from our little quick service breakfast! The ride seemed to take forever after that, and we were all trying to retain our composure when pulling up to the DVC place.
Truthfully it was pretty boring, but we had some snacks, and tried to get as much out of it as possible. I, being 19 at the time, knew that I shouldn’t dare even get my hopes up. My parents would never buy into that club. They were just along for the ride. As that finally ended, we got driven back by the “limo-bus” and Grandma made some embarrassing “grandma comments” about the whole deal. I don’t remember what she said, just know that they were things a grandmother would say to embarrass her grandchildren. LOL

BUT The best part is…..when I was trying to get to sleep that night, I heard a chewing noise---I looked up and it was Grandma standing by the television EATING that same piece of bacon that no one wanted!

(when I asked her why she got up to eat it, she said she didn't want to waste it! LOL)

Ever since then, it’s been a running joke in the family. I told Mike and he also thinks it’s hilarious. Last year, he secretly pocketed (in a napkin) a piece of bacon at breakfast, and pulled this bit on my dad on the bus back to the hotel from one of the parks. It was SO FUNNY! We all laughed our butts off, and everyone looked at us with wide eyes in disbelief that this guy had actually saved 1 piece of bacon all day in his pocket.

Yes, my family is NUTS, but I love them!

I’m sure Mike will try to get me at some point during our vacation, so I’m keeping a good eye on him at breakfast. Donuts it is! No bacon for you! LOL (Maybe I should get him, first)

So if anyone sees someone on the bus(or other form of transport) at WDW holding out a piece of bacon...you know who it is! :rolleyes1
