M and other Indians Fans - Boy that sucks....Once again, a Cleveland sports team rips the Cleveland fans apart. :sad1:  :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Good luck to the Red Sox and Rockies.

Crash and other Southern Californians, stay safe!

Hey Tom - I was wondering if you were affected. Glad to hear it isn't so back yet. I have been on the run all day and this is the first I've had to check in today. Hope all continues to go well for you and prayers and good wishes to all those that will be needing it.

Let's hope that this will be contained or at lest put into some semblance of control pretty soon w/o any more losses.

Thanks Laura!

Rodger is near by - perhaps 4-8 miles away and we're just getting nasty air quality and ash falling all over the place. The Malibu fires are a long way off - 12 miles plus - but that does not preclude us from having a NEW fire erupt in our immediate area. With the super high winds and fires litterially all over the region - all we need is a spark or arsonist in the area and we might have a dangerous situation develope.

They're not flying any fixed wing fire fighting craft like the one above now - but I heard they had been using the fire fighting heliocopters somewhere in the region. The southern California region really spans perhaps 150+ miles in any direction - and we get the news of developements all throughout the area. Collectively, the worst threat we had was the fire behind our home a few months ago (photo below)

As such all that fire fuel near by is GONE. So we are somewhat safe because of it. However, with winds like this - if a home went up in the community I'm sure the entire neighborhood would be threatened. As are the entire 13.8 million people in the Ventura-LA-Orange county area.

On another note - we're enjoying HAPPY FEET in HD now. Such amazing detail and texture... amazing.

OK... gotta get my supper finished here... I made a tray of lasagna plus some other freshly made stuff.

I thought it strangely quiet all of a sudden... and checking ourside it seems the winds are now ZERO? Strange. But now it appears all safe in our neighborhood.

So sorry to hear about those fires out in So. Ca. Those pics are scary Crash! Stay safe out there everyone!

Tom it might be quite at your house but it is blowing about 30-40 around the corner at our house. I have a new appreciation for all of you that have had to deal with hurricane winds. Although I think I would take rain over fire. :scared1:

Hey Roger - would any of these fires cause major increase at your hospital? Assuming that the smoke doesn't disperse? My DD has asthma and I heard her puffing away today with the heat and winds. Just wondering how much more the smoke would affect you over there.

Its' gusting again Rodger. MSN weather reporting sez our winds are 18 MHP in both WLV and TO. But I can HEAR the winds outside and sure does not seem like only 18MPH.

It seems the owner of that 17 million 10,000 foot house is the living daughter of the shah of Iran *(Lilly). She was on the 11pm news and speaks of rebuilding.

So we have a "red flag" condition til tuesday.

Well fellow pirate:s we're getting a move on today. It's going to be a lazy day considering this is what we woke up to this morning

This isn't the first snowfall of the season, we had some snow last week but it vanished in about 30 minutes. These photos were taken at about 0900 this morning and the roads still have accumulation. There's about 5"-8" in the backyard.

My DDs are soooooo jealous! We rarely get snow here & when we do it is unusual for it to settle for any length of time. I would love to wake up to that view on Xmas morning & for it all to have gone again when I go back to work 2 days later!

Lauren asked me to thank everyone for the birthday wishes & asked why I could only produce a chocolate cake & noot some of the DIS creations! It was however a yummy double layered choccie cake with chocolate filling & chocolate icing (frosting) on top. We have now cornered the market in High School Musical merchandise with the exception of the duvet cover I ordered for her which still hasn't arrived in stock (typical, eh?)

I hope all of you So Cal DISers are remaining safe - the pictures on this morning's news did not make for happy viewing, so I hope the situation is quickly brought under control with no/minimal loss of life/casualties.

OK, lunch break over now - back to double entry bookkeeping (don't you just love it....NOT!))

Happy Monday! Hope everyone is doing OK. For you Cali people hope the fires are soon out. That looks very scary.

Ohioans, sympathy on the Indians. I was hoping they would do it. Congratulations Red Sox fans.

Well back to work.

I am very interested in the Olympus underwater camera that you purchased. After all it is about the same price or cheaper than most of the housings that have been mentioned. So anyway I took the liberty to run your photos through Photo Shop to get an idea of what the potential is for this camera. I am no means an expert at this but I follow directions really well. :rotfl2:

Hey , That almost looks like my housing ...since me and my SM are avid divers we have an Ikelite housing along with the strobes , we get some fantastic pictures with our Sony-DSC-v1 ....I got Melissa a Casio not to long ago with a small casio housing and we took it on the Med and to Cozumel ...Depth on the casio housing was listed as 100ft and we were in Cozumel and forgot about the camera when we were at 175 ft in depth ...the camera and the housing survived ....
