...I was thrilled to see a crowd of young people waving signs along Route 206 (big commuter route) to support Obama and encourage people to vote.

Seeing how many younger folks are getting involved in this election was one of the reasons I decided to vote for Obama.

My friend texted me and told me that as well (he works in Princeton)! I had just voted for obama and was on my way to DC for work and it was a real lift to my spirits.

Is it only in America where one's experience be discounted?

I've been hearing this argument, sort of, for Obama - experience - who needs experience? Its better in this case not to have experience!

I was applying that to my own job hunting years - could you imagine if you were to tell a prospective employer that?

Obama does have experience and frankly I think he has better judgment than Hillary, which is one of the reasons I voted for him today.

The Meaning and Purpose of the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment

The Text of Florida Marriage Protection Amendment:

“Inasmuch as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.”

I. The Purpose of the Amendment.

A. The Amendment defines and preserves marriage as the union of one man and one woman as
husband and wife.

B. The Amendment prohibits any other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial
equivalent thereof from being valid or recognized as marriage.

II. The Amendment, Domestic Partnerships and Civil Unions.

A. The Amendment does not prohibit the state or local government from passing laws which confer
rights to unmarried persons as long as the laws are not designed to treat unmarried relationships
as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof.

B. The Amendment does not affect benefits offered or contracted in the private sector.

C. The Amendment prohibits any other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial
equivalent thereof from being valid or recognized as marriage.

Ok - I do not normally speak legalese - but doesn't the wording of the Amendment pretty much guarantee that domestic partnerships/civil union will be affected? I hate liars.

Oh - and I love the whole "this is not a move to push a Christian agenda into law" that some try to use. Chuh - check out the list of endorsements.

"Children need a mom and a dad. It is just that simple. When you create a same sex marriage, you are simultaneously creating a same sex family. Same sex marriages subject children to a vast, untested, social experiment. Homosexual marriage proponents must take the position that there is no inherent value or importance to human femininity and human masculinity when it comes to the socialization of children. Dad and mom's are optional. This is the assumption of their position."

Geez - They call temselves Florida4Marriage but I think the are more like Florida Against Non-traditional families. I wonder - once they have "saved" us from the horror of a homosexual family what kind of families they will "protect" us from then?

I still can't decide so I'm glad in a way that Texas isn't voting today. I'm leaning more towards Clinton but I can throw my support behind either one.

I kind of hope McCain does not win. I think he'll be harder to beat in the general election.

I am so excited to vote today!! I had to get to work at 7 am because a student ( I am a teacher) had makeup work to do, so I never made it this am! At 3:30, I am voting Obama!

I know a lot of you are Obama supporters but I think this is a great article..

about Hillary and about women in politics in general.

I was #35 this morning. :)
Ran into lots of unhappy neighbors since they moved our polling station a mile away and a few of them had showed up at the old place and got turned away. I have been complaining about the move for a year now, and since this is the first national election, maybe more people can join in on the fight. lol.

I'm the opposite! It's killing me that this is so close between Obama and Hillary and I don't have the power get out and vote. Especially when every vote today will make a difference. In all likelihood after today, the Dem candidate will be settled and our vote will be pointless. I HATE THAT.

If Hillary wins more delegates in total tonight, my guess is that her speech will include something like "Now that the Republicans have picked their candidate, Democrats in more than 20 states so far have told me they want me to lead this country and I am happy to do so. Let's take this fight to the Republicans" or something like that - essentially making the case that she has been chosen as the nominee even if the total delegate count is close.

If Obama wins more delegates tonight, I expect the race to go on since Hillary is still the clear front-runner. I'm praying the polls and pundits are wrong and he scores a huge upset tonight and the whispers begin that the party should get behind him.

I agree. I wanna vote! :sad1:

We have the same thing going on here. There are Obama supporters, young and old, lining the main city streets here and waving signs. It's great. I've never seen so much excitement for an election. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: GOBAMA!

Wow - isn't momentum with Obama - aren't all the pundits and polls with Obama showing him surging?

If anyone is the underdog its Hillary!

We also have to remember - both of our candidates are on our side........

Dont worry think it will go to the end.....

Hillary is still showing to be ahead but the polls have been shown to be wrong as we know. He is not surging above Hillary he is surging up to Hillary. He was below but he is coming up to her level that is why they are showing that it will be such a close race.

So at this moment there is no underdog on either of the Dem side....that is a good thing for all of us....just as the Conservatives are praying for no Dem we are praying NO REP....

Maybe a dumb question, but will John Edwards withdrawal have any noticeable effect on the results of today's primaries?

First of all never dumb question ...they are only dumb if you dont ask! lol

Hard to say because he has not endorsed either candidate. It is shown that his voters will be closer to a split between them both with a slight higher margin for Hillary. But really don't think that it will matter.

He was smart to not endorse either because that would have really changed the vote margin.....Would have loved to be a fly on the wall during the talks between Edwards and Hillary than Obama to hear what they were cooking up:thumbsup2

I have not yet gone to vote but will be heading out soon. What a great day to vote! And for those that are not voting today I would not fret you may be the ones that make the deciding votes and hand over the delegates:thumbsup2
