Kennedy Space Center

You do not need to rent a car if you are staying on Disney property. Mears will pick you up at your hotel, bring you to the space center in the morning and then return in the afternoon. I believe they go from Disney property on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the round trip cost is $30.00 - kids might be cheaper - not sure. Their number is 407-423-5566. Not sure if you are not staying on Disney property but I would call them to check it out. They might have a pick up point - or pick up from different hotels. My parents did this a few years ago when they were down in Disney. My dad didn't want to drive so it worked out great for them.

Hey all,

I just got my confirmation from my congressman's office for complimentary maximum access passes for KSC. It took less than 2 weeks. My boys are very excited. So, yes, it is true that your congressman can arrange this.

Are you guys that are getting the tickets from your Congressman getting them specifically for the Kennedy Space Center or are you requesting them for the Kennedy Center? When I look on all my Congressmen's webpages, all of them mention complimentary tours in D.C. which includes the Kennedy Center but no where if there anything about the space center. I haven't yet called but wondering if you guys are getting the correct tickets before I do.

If yall could get back to us on here (that have gotten them) that would be AWESOME!!! :dance3:

You need to specify Kennedy SPACE center in FL. Kennedy center is for the performing arts in DC.

Awesome news, Im waiting for mine to get back to me. Did you have to give a specific date or are they open passes? What does the maximum access pass include?

Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

"Maximum Access" sounds quite impressive! :goodvibes And free... even better!:rotfl:

Do you know as of yet if these passes are dated or open passes (good for anytime)? :confused3 We are going in September and I would love to have plenty of time for my Rep to get them to me.

:flower3: Thanks, Kimberly

I had that same question then figured what they heck, I'll write and see what they say. I said something to the effect that I see you can get tour tickets for D.C., is it possible to get admission/tour tickets to Kennedy Space Center in FL. The assistant is looking into it, which is what everyone said they'd say. She did respond in only a couple hours. I'll let you know how I make out.

Let us know how it goes Lisa. :) And good luck.

I haven't yet gotten a chance to call (work- for the lose) but I was just going by what the websites are saying. The only tours I saw were for DC but I plan on calling to see if GA gov. hooks their folks up like the rest of yalls. That's the LEAST they could do with gas prices the way they are.

Mine is dated. She called me and asked what day we wanted and I told her and she said that is the date that was confirmed for me. The tickets are good for 2 days and expire 7 days from 1st use.

I filled out the form on my congressman's website and in the notes section explained I wanted KSC. I just put N/A in the DC info. Couldn't have been easier.

Sounds good to me. I gave it a try, so we'll see what happens in the next couple days. Thanks to all of you for keeping us informed. :worship:

Good Luck! Let us know the outcome.

I am leaving in 2 days for my trip and will be at KSC a week from Saturday. :thumbsup2

If I have to pick a day for the comp tickets - is a Monday good (specifically oct 6th), anyone know of crowds there?

24 hrs since emailing them and no reply as of yet. :confused3 No surprise to me to be honest, the GA gov doesn't have the best track record. I'm just amazed at how quickly yall are getting at least a response even if it is "I'll have to check into it".

Don't worry your not alone. I emailed my Congressman 2 days ago through a specific "tours" link on his website and have yet to hear from his office. :rolleyes1

If you go, I would recommend getting there when it first opens (9am), because the lines to get in are not handled well when it is crowded. I had already purchased vouchers, so I have no idea why it took so long.

Anyway, our only disappointment was that we needed more time there. So plan to go when you can devote the entire day to it. Your will need it. Our friends warned us, but I just didn't think there would be that much to do. There is. It is very interesting. I highly recommend it and plan to return in the future.

I have to agree! We did this on our last trip down, we got up late, got there late, thinking "how much could there be to do?"...and DW thought the whole thing wouldn't be that great. We did get to do the whole bus tour, but we only saw one of the Imax movies, and we didn't get to do the shuttle launch experience. KSC was VERY cool, our kids and DW all loved it! (She was very surprised by this, but pleasantly so!). Now we want to go back, 1 day (or 1/2 day) was not nearly enough time there.

I would not try and do ADRs on the same day as KSC, it's an hour + ride out there. We ate at some restaurant on the way home, can't remember which one but there's lots of places on the way.

Your congressman must be better than my congressman.:sad2:
Hello,

I am the staff assistant in Congressman Sarbanes office and I received your tour request. Unfortunately our office does not provide tickets for the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Please give me a call at the contact number listed below if you have additional questions or concerns.

Best Regards,

here is my letter from my congressman in NC.

Hi, my name is Kevin Klein and I am the Tour Coordinator for Rep. Sue Myrick. I wanted to let you know that we received your email regarding tour tickets for the Kennedy Space Center . Our office does work to get tickets for Shuttle Launches from the space center but we generally do not have an easier way to get tickets for regular tours. Also, the next launch is scheduled for May 31st, but the tickets are all sold out. However, you can get tickets for a tour of the space center on your own and the link below should take you to NASA’s webpage that gives info on the subject. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, thanks!

Thank you for that info! Have a wonderful trip! Kimberly

Well, 3 days since I wrote the first congressman and still no reply. So, I decided to try another congressman in my state and no one has responded from his office either. *thumbsdown*

Glad to see some of you are getting hooked up, but I'm kinda expecting the response that some of the recent ones received, if I ever receive a response.
