YOAMD Postcards and Winners

Now I'm not trying to bash to USPS, but.....this is the way I address my post cards:

my address
my city,zip etc

Disney Dreams Giveaway
and their address

on the reverse side I turn the card the other direction/vertically and put the information for the entry...

The other day I got two of my post cards back....
ummmmm they are post office post cards with stamps "built into them".
lol
I am thinking hmmmmm how could they make this mistake?? Bizarre in my mind....lol

Has this happend to anyone else?

I've started to put my "postcards" in an envelope and sending it that way. Now I send one for DH & one for me...Well two of my envelopes were returned. Both had the correct postage and all that. But the funny thing is that the two that were returned were my postcards (not DH's). DH said that it's just proof that he's meant to win something and I'm not. Joke is on him cause he's still not won anything! :rotfl: Since those two were returned haven't had a problem since.

Very weird how people keep getting their stuff returned to them. So far I havent gotten anything back (knock on wood). I've first sent out envelopes now post cards and everything went out fine as far I know. It doesnt say the reason on the envelopes/cards? I know they usually stamp whatever is being sent back to a reason. Such as no such address, not correct postage, etc.

Any wins lately? Still nothing here....I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will have at least one win before we leave for our Disney vacation on May 31.

Don't forget the postage goes up on May 12 (Monday). If you have the pre-stamped cards you will need to add a 1 cent stamp (to make it .27). No wins here lately....

What kind of postcard are you sending? : A prepaid postcard from the post office.
Are you sending Disney postcards, making your own or buying the post office kind?: Buying the Post Office's
What are you writing on them?: I put my name, address, phone number, date of birth and also all that I will be staying POFQ in June. I have had no wins and have mailed in at least 150 post cards since last July. Good luck to you maybe you will win.

When we addressed them, we put the PO BOX, then ELMHURST, IL.

I dont know why people are putting disney, or dream giveaway, or anything like that...There is nothing in the rules about putting that. Just the PO Box and address.....

We've been doing the same thing...just the PO Box address. We still haven't won anything though. Oh well!

Only reason I post what we did, is that we won doing exactly that.....I would not add extra words to the sending line, just in case....

I did not even put return address on my envelopes......

I honestly don't think it matters whether you put Disney Dreams Giveaway or not. I have written Disney Dreams Giveaway and I have won a set of dream ears, others haven't and have won other items. The title came from the instructions for mailing in entries in the UK. It probably doesn't matter either way. Either way you address it you should be fine.

I put Disney dream giveaway on mine and none of them have been returned ( around 50 ) , so I don't think that's why they are returning them.

Ok, then cool if its working....I just posted what I put, and it worked pretty well for us!! :cool1: :wizard:

I just wanted to reiterate this point...very important!!!!!! ;)

So I went to the post office yesterday afternoon to buy some postage paid postcards with the new rate. My post office did not have any with the new rate and the lady there said they wouldn't have them "for quite some time". They didn't even have the old ones that I could add a one cent stamp to. So I had to go to another post office and buy some of the old ones and do the one stamp additional postage thing. Has anyone else been able to get the prepaid postcards with the new rate from their post office? Also, when you buy from USPS.COM is there a handling and/or shipping fee? If so, about how much? I can't believe I'm going through all of this for a contest! But, it's fun! I'll be sad when it's over next year! :guilty:

I don't know if they're available (with the new rate) on the website yet, but they only charge a $1.00 handling fee (no shipping). It's totally worth it to have them delivered to your door!

Especially with gas prices! :scared1: Not sure how far everyone is from their post office. Im very lucky. Mine is right across the street from my house. All we have to do is drive off base housing, which takes a whole 20 seconds, drive across a bridge onto base, and then drive to the post office which takes like a min. However, with that said, since we only have 1 car and by the time DH gets off work the PO is closed. So I do order mine from usps.com. You are correct, it is only $1 for shipping and yes they are available right now.

Thanks! I think I will be ordering them online from now on.

Went to the post office. The postal agent said that putting the disney dreams giveaway on the sender side makes it a three line address and easier for the machines to read. That is her opinion of course.

She couldn't tell me why two out of all the ones I've sent were returned.

My post office has the new postcards. I bought a giant pack of them yesterday. The post office clerk said I was the first one to purchase them. :)

It sure has been a long time since anyone has won anything by mail. Do you think people gave up and are not posting on here?

I think all the pixie dust for mail entries went to the DVC winner.
