Let's track the EB PC cruise here

I just finished reading this thread. Thanks for being so patient waiting for us to get thru the Gatun Locks. The weather quickly changed and it did rain all thru the night. They had sectioned off the front of the ship deck 9 which is situated beneath deck10 for wheelchairs. DH sat on his scooter the whole time til lunch. I had gone back later with another diser to film the last lock. We sat behind that darn freighter forever!!!!!! Here are some pictures from our point of view. The first is from a deck7 stateroom showing the storm coming in. OK we were trying to see who could get the first shot of lightning. Yes we were nuts :lmao: We were just about within view of the locks at that time. The next two are in the lock.We must have been in the same position for over an hour. No movement. That poor guy was all alone on the bridge this time. I guess the officers didn't need to be there?????They did give out ponchos to those of us crazy enough to be on deck. But at that point we were wet. So we added them to the luggage. We got hopeful as the sky did clear up over the mountains but alas not over us. All in all it was memorable. DH had a good time and thanks to DCL,we were sheltered from the scorching sun. Hope these pictures let you relive our perspective of the Gatun Lock. We appreciate how long you stayed in front of the computer waiting for us. And thanks for the pictures. they are now part of my trip.:goodvibes

I assume you were the winners of the $28k bingo the 2nd highest payout on DCL ever and one of the biggest on any cruiseline, and YES the biggest payout was on the W/Bound repo in May $31k?Congrats.

Nope was not me. I was sitting next to them though! I told him I expected free ice cream and soda for the rest of the cruise.:3dglasses

Also, I am sure most of you saw a women & her luggage being escorted off the ship at the 1st lock in Panama to a waiting Ambulance. I hope she is okay. I suspect she had the Flu pretty bad, but am unsure. I know several people got sick as did my DD the 2nd day and was quaranteened for 24 hrs. Thus DW & DD missed Puerta Vallarta :-(

We also had delays in leaving the ports in a few places. One I know was a tour (horseback riding I believe) was late so they had to wait for them, but I am unsure why we left Cartegena (sp) so late?

I perosnally never encounted any issues with teenagers, but off course I am a large ex semi pro hockey player and thus have a look of "you would be wise to stay out of my way" ;-)

The only underage "kids" I saw at the Rocking D was Aly & or AJ (Personally have no idea who they were) the last night.

One other thing that went well - Besides celebrating my Wife's Bday, we also had our 17th wedding anniversary while on board as well. I was WAY too late to get something through Disney, so we just dressed us & the kids up and went to the back of deck 7 and re read our wedding vowels with each child next to us. We then headed to Dinner at Luminere's and enjoyed some good champagne. The kids behaved and we had a great time!

Man, I feel sorry for anyone that was sick and quarantined.

Iceman 10. I love the idea of your wedding vow renewal. Great idea!

Wow, those photos bring back some great memories. I'm still not over my post-vacation slump...it's hard to get back to reality after 15 days on the Magic. We were on the deck 7 aft verandah for the early part of the crossing. It was pretty dead to start with, but eventually people figured out it was a prime viewing area so at one point they were four-deep. We had gotten a rail spot early on, so it was perfect. Mickey and Donald came there to visit, which made for great photo ops. We bought the Shutters stock photo of the back of the ship, as you can see hubby and me as little green dots (green shirt) with my red hat. Pretty cool.

Cartegena, Firstly whilst there was a lady called out for this was not the reason for the late departure, another container ship came in and was accross our bow, the Magic would need to back out, and it was in the way, we watched from our verandah and we didnt move until they gave the all clear and no one got on/off the forward entry during that time, the Aft was closed before end of port time.

Secondally we really didnt need to go fast, we cruised at 9 knots all day at Sea before Aruba.

Not sure when the people next door to my cabin left, or if they ever arrived, 8062 was empty in the Panama canal Ik now that, but most likly was empty before that, unless that was the lady who was unwell and never came out of her room, Aly and AJ and their parents used 8062 8060 from Aruba. I think Kevin Robinson BMX champ was in 8058.

They didn't say anything to the 8-10 teens who were brought into Sessions around 11:30 on the night before CC. The dad had been one of the people faking during the hypnotist show and said something about if they don't like it he would take them to RNBD.

I am so dense, which guy was faking it during the hypnotist, was it the heavyset guy with glasses?

In my opinion they were all faking it. Especially when they demonstrated their pets. Give me a break. So lame.

just finished reading! Thank you all for posting pics and links!!!!!

as for teens in the adult clubs, we only saw two incidences:

late one night a lady who had been dancing tried to escort a group of teens onto the dance floor and DJ Dan addressed it right away. He made it clear that they had the Stack - "or better yet, why weren't they in their staterooms in bed?".

another night Aly and AJ came in and a little later their dad tried to get some teen boys in. They were stopped at the door.

we were very thankful in both cases!:)

one other related story: the last night there were two grandparents in Mickey's Mates and they were relating what they clearly thought was a cute and endearing story. They started out by saying they took a picture of their 14 yr old grandson in bed every morning because that was all they saw of him. They went on to explain how the dear didn't come back to the stateroom until sometime between 2 and 9 am!!!! They were also quite proud to tell everyone in listening distance about the hickeys all over his neck!!! For those of us wondering for 15 days of this, what is wrong with some parents - this seemed the perfect example of what is wrong........FOURTEEN year olds allowed to roam the ship at all hours!!! I had read DCL had security out watching for them and would send them to their staterooms, but I clearly read wrong!!!

on a lighter note, we had an awesome time....would do it again in a heart beat!!!! :wizard:

just to clarify- Aly was 18 in April of this year. 18yr olds are allowed in the clubs anyway, right? just can't drink? I'm not sure. But Amanda is 17. I had to look this up cause I figured Aly had to be older since it was quite awhile ago she played the teen on Phil of the Future. LOL
I assume they would get special treatment (Amanda being 17 in Bar D) since they are celebrities (who also performed on the cruise)? :confused3
Not cool that their family was trying to get other youngsters in there too..

I thought I'd read that about teens too but it seemed the teens (and tweens and younger even!) were allowed to do whatever they wanted. If the stack closed at 2am- my daughter had to be in her room at 2:02am and I checked to make sure. and yes I mean that literally and had to wait up for her on the 2:30am nights too. But they were all still up and wandering. Even the last night of the cruise I went down at 3:15am (after packing all our carryon bags and such) to the internet cafe to print our boarding passes and there were tons of kids just lounging around in there- being loud, sitting on tables, climbing all over things, etc. and they were teenagers and others as young as I'd say about 10yrs old if not younger. What they were doing up at that hour is beyond me... but no one (not parents nor crew) were making them to go their rooms- that's for sure.

oh, you misunderstood....we had no problem with Aly and AJ (I understood they needed a place to get away - especially after some of the stalking we witnessed and some of the stories we heard), it was only with wanting to let in the group of boys.....you can't ask to be protected against some of the teens, but then ask to make exceptions for others - especially not in the adult club area.:)

The only under 18 person I saw at the adult pool was AJ but I think that everyone knows that there is no way she could have hung out at the Goofy pool.

Actually she is of age...

We were talking to her mom at the pool later that day and she said the girls were 18 & 20.

All I know I posted yesterday while we were waiting to get off, I was told by another passenger, ( one person- so unconfirmed) that the delay getting off was caused by a missing foreign national who was later found and escorted off, and I didn't post this yesterday, but I was told at Gunpoint.

Wouldn't be surprised....

There were quite a few "visitors" on the ship while we were in Cartegena...

I assumed they were family members of crew. (since there was a crew member showing them around and they were all standing by the pool in dress clothing taking each others photos)

I assumed they were dignitaries of some sort - ie Mayor of Cartegena and family - since it was DCL's first stop at that port.

That is correct. They were local officials/dignitaries who came aboard to have lunch, see the ship etc.

I am very much a skeptic, but I think some may have been genuine...that's not to say all of them were. But we spoke with people who know one of the guys who was given the suggestion at the end to say how great the hypnotist was every time someone mentioned him. They said he did it and then after he gushed about it, he would be a little dazed/kind of unaware of what he just did. Someone else knew "The Doctor" and said he's not normally that kind of a public demonstration person so he seemed to be under too.

I suspect the guy who ran into the audience with his shirt was fake because that was just too wild and the hypnotist had told everyone to stay on the stage so he acted contrary to the suggestion.

I dunno...I've seen a lot of hypnotism shows, and I see some who seem to be very obviously faking but others who could possibly be genuine. I think it's a little of both...not quite as bad as professional wrestling anyway!

Oh i didn't misunderstand you. My first comments about their ages were just general comments and not directed towards you even though I was quoting you to respond in my 2nd paragraph. LOL Sorry for any misunderstanding- and I totally agree with how you feel about it!

LOL
I thought that one guy was real because of how he wanted to cover up his wife (girlfriend/whatever she was). I'm pretty skeptic about the whole show really but that guy seemed like he really wanted to cover her up- even at the cost of embarrassing himself without his shirt on while up on stage & acting kinda like a fool about it (because it's not like he was all buff underneath that shirt, yanno? LOL) IF it was real- and let's say that was my husband- I coud totally see him wanting to cover me up with his shirt regardless of any suggestion of staying on the stage. Covering my nekkidness would override any suggestion of staying on the stage. LOL

I think you may be right- that some were faking and maybe some weren't. But I do think that to be hypnotized you have to be the type that CAN be hypnotized- that's why hypnotism doesn't work for everyone (like to quit smoking/etc.) I'm pretty sure I'd be one that couldn't be hypnotized- maybe because I don't really believe it would work on me? :lmao: Let's just say I'm glad I wasn't tested on that...

Hmm, do you think someone from Cartegena was onboard all the way to FL? Or was it someone who got on the ship in FL? I'm really confused by all this and who it could have been. Such a mystery! :lmao:

Actually she is of age...

We were talking to her mom at the pool later that day and she said the girls were 18 & 20.

Hmm...their dad said that Aly was almost 20 and AJ was 17 the first sea day after Aruba. They were out there a few days. Their mom was probably just saying what DCL told her to in order to avoid causing waves. According to their site their birthdates say the same unless I am doing the math wrong due to jet lag .... Alyson Renae Michalka (born on March 25, 1989) and Amanda Joy Michalka (born on April 10, 1991).

LOL

He lost his concentration and cracked up at the end of the "show". If he was under he wouldn't have responded to the guy's comment at all since he was supposed to be "sleeping".

They are officially off. Oh how I wish I was on it again. Should never have cancelled our reservations!!

Sorry you cancelled.:sad2:

pdarrah, so glad you posted. I have read some bad things about Cartagena so it's good to know how much you enjoyed it. I wasn't sorry we missed it in 2005 but have changed my mind since reading your post. LOL

Hi Sandy..........remember me from the 10 Day Wonder Southern trip??
I still play the CD you made us!!:thumbsup2

The trip was truly a TOAL. I would do it again in a heart beat. I thought the trip was perfect in every way. Glad your DD was aboard to enjoy the Trip Of A Lifetime.:woohoo: :woohoo:
