DDA Chapter 11

OMG!! For the 1st time ever my wait list for DVC came through!! :yay::yay::yay:

That's wonderful! For when? I'm still waiting for 3 nights in December.

Hooray Kristine! :yay: I am waiting for one night at BWV for our trip (3/5). I had assumed I would get it because we've always gotten our wait list requests (do we request boring stuff?! :confused3 :rotfl: ), but it sounds like maybe we won't...? Oh, well! We often stay somewhere different the first night.

Tammi, I hope yours comes through soon!

Eric just called from the dentist. Both of the girls had appointments today with a new dentist (actually it's Eric's dentist from when he was a kid). Mo has no cavities!! A big step up from the 5 she had last time. But Emma needs to see an orthodontist. That is not what I wanted to hear at all. It seems her mouth is crowded. So not looking forward to that at all.

Hooray for Mo! I don't know that I've ever had no cavities, regardless of how well I take care of my teeth. Stupid genes  I am sorry to hear Emma has to go to the orthodontist. I had to have extractions and braces because of lots of crowding. It really wasn't bad, but I know it can be expensive! :wizard:

Anyone know where I can find cheap plant stands?? I'm looking for about 30 inches tall with a wide base...they will be put on carpeting and sometimes that carpeting wobbles when you walk on it and we've seen plants fall.

...my second option are those wooden end tables with three legs - you buy them flat at walmart or target and screw the legs in...but of course, I can't find them anywhere either.

I'm thinking small bar stools would work :confused3 Look in places that you wouldn't think like automotive stores or the like. You can easily dress something up with a little fabric or tulle. Let me know if you need me to brainstorm more:thumbsup2

:cool1: :cool1: We haven't had to waitlist yet :headache:

Chanon have you checked my favorite online shopping source, with the best shipping rate I must add? Overstock.com

I found stools
plant stands
occasional tables
side tables

Man I love that site :rotfl: :rotfl:

Nick goes to an orthodontist for crowding issues too. Thankfully they have managed to remove teeth to make room. Our regular dentist has done all the removals in the office. We may be looking at braces soon, but it's been about 2 years since he started with the orthodontist

How old is Emma? DS had his first orthodontic consult when he was 8 and the guy said we needed to get the braces on in the next 6 weeks. BUT that would have just been "phase 1". THEN he would have been out of them for awhile and gone back to have another set "phase 2" put on! :scared1: I smiled and thanked the man for his time. We had his braces put on when he was 10.5, just before he lost his last baby tooth. He was in them for 20 months. Now he is in retainers. HOPEFULLY when he goes back in November they will say he can just wear the retainers overnight. But he isn't very compliant about wearing the all the time now, so they might not let him scale back just yet. His dentist (who is not affiliated with the ortho at all) says his teeth look great. Definitely shop around for orthodontics!

I just realized why Princess fell asleep in the chair on Monday. She didn't nap at school! I read her little note wrong. She didn't sleep today, either, so now she is napping. She was mad when I told her she needed to nap, but it only took her 5 minutes to fall asleep. :rolleyes1

I need to go play the lottery...

1st my DVC wait list comes through...now I find out I have been upgraded on the cruise from a Category 10...to Category 7! :woohoo:

How cool is that?! Now let's just hope the cruise actually does make it out of the port! :wizard:

Janet - DS got the pin from Riley today! Thanks! :)

I am thrilled with Mo!! She refuses to let us help her brush, that whole independence thing!

The expense is what has me :scared1: She gets it naturally from me though so I shouldn't be suprised.

Pulling them in the dentist's office sounds much better than the orthodontist's.

She will be 9 in November. We'll see what they have to say but I am hoping it can be corrected with minimal "stuff"

Wow!!! :dance3:

Since Kristine brought up parades, I see the Obama supporters are having a booth at the Pride Parade. I haven't been to the parade since I quit volunteering for the AIDS walk, but I bet they will have stuff DS can use for his project. Might have to pop down to the park and see what I can gather. :thumbsup2

Question for you elementary school moms.....

What instruments are offered in your schools? I remember when I was in elem. school violin/viola was offered for 5th and 6th graders.

Today I get a note from school saying that 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are going to be playing the recorder. I am requested to buy one (thank goodness they are only $4 and change) or he can share in the school's supply and they will be washed after every use in the dishwasher.

Is anyone up for assisting Nicholas with his Flat Stanley project. We have to send FS off for a month or so, and you are requested to keep a journal, attach pictures and send postcards. We would really appreciate it. After everyone jumps at the chance ;), if you don't mind, I'll let him choose where he wants FS to 'vacation.' TIA!

When DS was in elementary there was a band program but it was after school only. I don't think there was music AT ALL. The specials were Art (sometimes), PE, computer, library. There was choir, but it was done like band as an after school activity. Then they moved the 6th graders to middle school and cut the funding for elementary band, so there isn't a program to feed students onto the middle school band program.

At least one of my sisters, maybe both, had to have a recorder. I think they are obnoxious. Of course DS brought an actual snare drum home today, so I imagine I am about to find a whole new definition for obnoxious.
