"...you are getting SLEE-E-E-EPY......Disney is GOO-O-O-O-OD......you WANT to go to WDW....Mickey is your friend...."

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Maybe I should try something like this with my DH to move to Florida . . .

Florida is G-O-O-O-O-D. You want to move the family to FLOR-I-DA! Pat can work for M-I-C-K-E-Y!!!!

So the more I thought about it, the more I realized I don't want to deal with moving 5 and 6 year olds from one resort to another. It would be one thing if we were staying a few nights at one and then a week at another (that's next year!). So I sent an email to my TA asking her to switch the whole thing to AKL, so we'll be there for 6 nights and not do the split stay with the WL. I kept getting hung up on the buses. Not sure why. I think in terms of time, we'd spend less time on the bus than on the monorail or trying to get from WL to epcot.
Besides, the bus was Jeckle's favorite part of the trip the last time. :)

...the driver was only 21 years old....like my DS's age...:sad1: ...so sad really...

I know it...so so sad. I bet that truly hits home for you!:hug:

...the "Broken Foot/Kitchen Fire" story:

we used to have a 3-tiered deck directly off our back [kitchen] door, which were painted all in the same color. The 'slats' or boards ran horizontally (or, that's what it looked like when you looked out our back door's window) so you couldn't easily tell where one decking ended and another began. I love to light candles throughout the house and I am always vigilant about them. I never leave a room for longer than a minute with a burning candle, or, if I do, I have that candle in view. Ths particular evening I had a night class at the college, so I was busy clearing the dishes from the table and cleaning the kitchen. My DH, who had been the head coach of his football team [at the time] was having his assistant coaches and team come over to our house to watch the previous week's game for, what he calls a 'skull session' on our big-screen tv. Our guests were told by my DH to use to back door when arriving at our home - no big deal, except that the door was constantly opening and closing from all the entering guests. No biggie, except for the fact that there was a lit candle on the shelf on the wall right next to that back door, and, one of the players opened the door a little too much, making the curtain on the door's window catch fire!! :scared1: As he closed the door, I immediately noticed that the curtain was burning, so I ran to the door, removed the curtain, rod and all, from the door, and proceeded to hurry out the door to throw the burning curtain into the pile of snow in my backyard. Unfortunately, I didn't see where one deck ended and the next one began, so I fell, twisting my ankle HARD and coming down on my foot in a not-so-good position! My foot IMMEDIATELY ballooned to about 3 sizes larger and turned colors that I didn't know even existed....stupid me went off to my night class anyway - my foot just about BURST out of my sneaker.....talk about 'taking one for the team'!!

Oh.my.goodness Kim!!!!!!!

That is all kinda funny, now, looking back, the fact that you still went to class!! I'm so sorry you had to go through that though!!!

Congratulations! It sounds like a good move for you. :thumbsup2 I'm not a big fan of moving in a trip either-it's added hassle. It's fun to try a couple resorts, but like you said-next year!! The bus service from AKL is traditionally very good, so I think you won't be disappointed a bit.

I'm sorry to hear more about how your November trip won't be happening, I've been holding out in hope that it would somehow happen for you!! Next year?

I've been holding out hope too - which is why I had not deleted the ticker yet. But, all is not lost! My girlfriends and I are taking a trip for our 40th birthdays in Nov. 2010. I tried to convince them to go to DW, but they are not all big fans. Then one of them was able to get an offer from a relative to use his condo on the beach in Tampa for free. So that's where we are going. Now, I can't be that close to DW and not go, at least for a day. So I was planning to drive up for a day, just me, myself and I, and have a nice relaxing solo mini-trip. Which would, of course, include eating at Boma! :thumbsup2

One of my girlfriend's and I went for a walk this morning and starting talking about the 40th birthday trip. Side note: she is planning a trip to DW in Jan with her family and I've gotten her hooked on the DIS and TourGuide Mike! Anyway, as I started telling her about my plan to drive up to DW for a day, she said she would love to go with me. Then we got all excited and the one-day mini trip morphed into this plan: fly into Orlando, stay at a Disney resort, go to Epcot for the Food and Wine festival, stay again that night (because who wants to drive to Tampa after drinking and eating our way around the World all day?), then drive to Tampa the next day. Very good plan, IMHO!!! :dance3:

So, what do you all think? If you had one day at DW, which park would you go to? Or would you try to get to them all? What would be on your to-do list? I'm just so happy that I will get my "fix" - even if it's just one day! :yay:

Congratulations! What a great plan!

I guess it depends upon where you are staying as to what you might want to do. If you are staying AKL, you probably want to leave a lot of time to just enjoy the grounds, and just do Epcot.

OUCH...:sick:Kimmar-that sounds horrible! It must have been very difficult to get around:sad2:...I love candles too-and DH is always running around putting them out the minute I walk out of the room-maybe that's not such a bad thing-especially since I'm the one likely to light things on fire including myself..:confused3 Humans have learned to utilize and enjoy fire effectively but it can be very dangerous too...

You'd have had a great time either way but it really will be more relaxing just staying in one place...it feels more like your temporary home that way, and you can always go to WL on your next trip-although that is a tough choice -they are both awesome resorts (IMHO I think they are the best two)...I personally also have a desire to stay at the Beach Club-we stayed at the Boardwalk years ago when DH's company sent him to a training session held there and dd and I dragged along...:thumbsup2 and it's a fun area to stay---Hmm I've always wanted to go to the Halloween party in October and DH's & DD's birthday plus our anniversary are in October and since DH is feeling all this DVC love lately-hmmm I'm feeling an idea brewing...

Focusing on the upcoming trip-DD and I were just in Starbucks this week getting our regular Americano and Ice Tea when we excitedly spotted and bought two travel mugs that have African cloth in/on them (they have a whole fair trade African line-travel mugs, lunch sacks, coffee) I will have to take photos of them-I'd like to actually do a trip report this time round...:rolleyes1-they are really great and everytime we use them we remember where we will be in 38 Days....:woohoo:

Guess I know where I am going tomorrow for a coffee/African fix! :lmao:

Leanne, your trip sounds GREAT!!!!!!!!! :dance3:CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Where are you thinking about staying those two nights?

If it were just me and a girlfriend, I would probably choose Epcot or AK. If my little man was with, MK all the way. :goodvibes

I'm going to throw us a bit off topic in a somber way for a minute (but I know that's what my Jambo friends are for.)

Many of you knew that my DMIL, 312.Duck's mom, (who've you've all seen in our pictures) was suddenly stricken with a rare form of cancer two months ago.

I'm sorry to say that my DMIL lost her battle early this morning. She passed away at home, gracefully, without pain, in her sleep. She gave me a lot of my love for Disney and we've never been on a trip without her- I'm extremely glad that she and DFIL were the first to accompany us to our AKV DVC that we bought and used for the first time last year....we will be going back in September as planned as an honor to her. I'm only so very sorry that she will not be with us as she was so looking forward to staying at the Grand Floridian for the first time.

Thanks for being there gang!

Tracy

Tracy,
I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

You have been blessed with loving in-laws and I know you will always cherish the wonderful memories you have. May you, your DH, and DFIL take comfort in the fact that your Dear MIL is at peace and will live forever in your hearts. :grouphug:

Oh Tracy...I'm so sorry. Your family will be in my prayers during this time.

Through your TR, she was like an honorary DISer as we all got to know her. I'm so glad you were able to share all that time with her on your last trip.

How exciting! I would stay in Epcot for the whole time I was there during the F&W Festival. You have been to WDW before and your friend will have too. Unless there is some reason you need to go to another park, I say enjoy the offerings at F&W! And, if you pick the right resort there is no need to go anywhere other than those two places, either. ;)

I am so sorry, Tracy. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Hi Everyone,

I am fairly new to this thread, but have been lurking around for quite sometime as I decide if I want to stay at AKL for the very first time.

I just wanted to say,I am so very sorry Tracy for you and your familys loss, please know that your MIL will forever be in your hearts, I will keep all of you in my prayers.
