Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

I can't believe how many of you are running into pompous un-supportive people. Everyone I've talked to is super proud of me for doing it. I tell them my time sucked (it did lol) and they say who cares, I ran 13.1 miles! I heart my friends/family/aquaintances.

Can't find the video Natale. :(

My son brought some friends over. They asked me how I did. I said "I did great and I finished. Want to see the medal?" They said, "Yes". I was bad and told them it was real gold. Ha Ha Ha Then, I confessed, "Just Joking" They laughed and then asked me "How can you run that far!!?!?!?"

My family says that they are proud of me. It's been a great experience.

I have some weird neighbors that run outside everyday. When I saw them, I told them that I was going to run the Princess. The wife told me I wasn't a REAL runner because I was using the treadmill.

I told her that what she said wasn't true and that Lance Armstrong trained indoors.

They won't even ask me how I did or anything.

My dad is a 'real' runner, he has been to several World Championships for his sport and is still pretty competitive. (if his sport were in the Olympics he would have been there also) He runs almost exclusively on the treadmill during the winter.
He also supports me in the Galloway training. I thought he would tease me about taking walk breaks, but instead when I told him he said "Jeff Galloway? Oh he's good!"
People who are good at a sport and love doing it should be encouraging others to join then not the other way around.

Any idea when our finishers certificates will be up on the race websites? It's been a week, and still nothing.

LOVE your pictures. Next time I'm going to stop and take more.

Great pictures! I didn't even see some of those characters. Great job!

When I ran through the castle, "Frog man with one shoe" was running beside me. I looked for me in your pics, but I guess you were just faster! :) I started out in C and gradually moved up to the B's. There were so many people!

That hot air balloon was cool wasn't it? I think the Princess is the best half marathon in the whole country. I feel so lucky to have been a part of it.
I'm still floating on air!!!princess:

Thanks for the helpful comments and pick-me-ups. I should have told the story a couple of months ago, because you all are so nice and supportive! I was looking for camaraderie from my neighbors because they were runners, so the "mean" comment hurt my feelings. I am so glad that I don't have to talk to them ever again.

Just wanted to say that if anyone here is still on the fence about doing the DL half this year for C2C, it jumped to 93% full this morning...don't wait too long! BF and I just registered!

Also, was searching online yesterday and found a super cute tiara medal display/hanger that I think I'm going to order to start putting my medals on. I found it at www.alliedmedaldisplays.com. They have a small and large one (along with several other non-tiara displays!)...I'm ordering the large to motivate me to fill it up! I've never dealt with them, but so far their customer service has been great. (the tiara has a "P" cut into it in the center, I'm assuming for "Princess" but they came up with a custom rendering for me with an "S" on it and will make it for me that way for no extra charge.) Anyway, I thought some of my fellow Princesses might be interested in checking them out.

:cool1: I can't believe the sweepers didn't get me! I never even saw them!!! I will say around mile 8 when one of the bike medics rode up along side me to see if i wanted gu, i wouldn't make eye contact because I thought he was a sweeper! LOL....

I did this by myself with a goal of just finishing.... i finished 3:30 - which in my book is AWESOME considering i started training in Oct 2010, had a stress fracture by Nov 2010 and didn't get approval to start "training" until the middle of Jan. 2011!

I thought the first mile for me was by far the HARDEST ever.... i did the "what the h*ll was i thinking signing up for this! I'm not as good as all these people!" But all the princesses around me where so awesome! All the nice comments and everyone cheering for everyone! I think i cried to myself every few miles because of the sheer excitement of being apart of something, which to me was so life changing.

I proved to myself that I really can do anything I set my mind on. At this point in my life, it is what I needed. Everyone has been so amazing in their support.

I was asked by a WDW employee if I won the race on my last day there (March 2nd) and I thought she was joking..... please, at 5'2 and about 40 pounds overweight, me???? She was serious.... I was like "i finished, which was way better than I thought I would do!"

2011 was my starting point and 3:30 is my starting time....... it gives me something to shoot towards for 2012!

I think at the point that I was on the overpass and I finally looked back down the highway and there where people as far as I could see, I realized that I would actually finish this! The entire time as people passed me, I was certain I was the very last person in the race..... I was a great feeling to see that I am "normal" and just as capable as everyone else!

To those who finished before me - thank you for being so kind to me as you flew by me and asked me kindly to move over!

I can't believe we did it!!! Here is to 2012!!!:yay:

Very awesome! Thanks for the link. Those are very very cool.

I'm going to register for the DL half tonight. The shirt thing I brought up in the other thread is the only thing delaying me (the same thing delayed me with the Princess, lol). I'm such a nerd!

Kensgirl: I'm so glad you finished and had such a great time. I was rooting for you since you and I were both struggling with difficulties. I'm so happy for you. You overcame and succeeded and that's totally winning in my book!

Thanks for sharing this. Now I just have to decide whether to get the Tiara or my name!

FYI.....medal update! Some of you may recall my medal contained defective BLING. Rundisney fixed the problem and sent me a new medal! I am a happy princess. Thanks, Rundisney!

YAY!!!

Mine was messed up too, but thankfully I noticed it after I had met up with my family but before we left the race area...the part that goes around your neck was ripped in one spot. Of course I noticed this while in line for engraving...which was just about as far as you could get from the finish line across the parking lot! :lmao: I had to walk all the way back over there...like a fish trying to swim upstream with all the finishers headed the opposite direction! I was stopped by a few officials that said I couldn't go back that way, but no way was I not getting another one! I just showed it to them and kept walking before they could protest anymore. The man that replaced it for me was very sweet and made a big deal of re-medaling me :wizard: I was going to go back through the picture line too in case my first one wasn't good, but by that time the lines had gotten really long so I skipped it.

I like the color of your bib. Which princess did you pick? Just in case, I do this run next year. :)

Expedition Everest looks fun! How hard is it???

If you watch the multimedia videos where you print out the certificate, you can see some Wishers. Nat I think I saw you with Buzz and Crystal I saw you also!

I went to start to print out my certificate and stopped as I HAVE what place I came in considering I started out in Corral B....very depressing...BUT I AM really proud I finished. I will print it out eventually and have it as a reminder to train smart and safe and get my stretching in.:goodvibes

I can't wait for the race next year! I was hoping to do the DL 1/2 but I think I am going to focus right now on the complete and total healing of the foot for next year's princess!
