Since Brennan insists on watching Dora right now and won't let me watch the Royal Wedding, I thought I would take the time to write my thoughts on the cruise.
We had a fantastic time on the cruise. It started out a little rocky with my kids misbehaving at the port and driving me nuts. I wanted to socialize but they kept tugging on me telling me how bored they were. Also I woke up the day before with the beginnings of a cold. Luckily I was able to stop by a Vons on the way to the port to stock up on some meds. I loved seeing everyone in the port at check in and talking to fellow DISers in line. Susan, I had to laugh at that pushy lady who cut in front of you in line to get into the port. She totally pushed past us on the gangway to get on the ship, leaving her family to apologize as they were trying to catch up with her. I kept seeing her the whole cruise. My kids were cranky the first day and I had to leave the Welcome Aboard show as Brennan just would not sit still and the people behind us were getting annoyed. To top off the rocky start Isabelle got sea sick and vomited all over the entrance of Animators Palette when my husband was taking her back to the room. So if you saw that during 2nd dining, I apologize.
I was not going to let the first day bring me down, and our vacation started as soon as we dropped the kids off in the club on day 2. Luckily the kids really loved the clubs and spent a lot of time there. Even Brennan at just under 3 had a great time there. We loved all the ship activities, especially Bingo, the Character meets in Studio Sea, eating, Who wants to be a Mouseketeer , the drinks of the day, the shows, the Mickey pool, and did I mention eating. Kevin and I also got to see some of the adult shows in Wavebands at 10:30pm.
We did the zip lining in PV with Paul, Dana, Amy and kids. Had a great time and would highly recommend it. Did the Tesoro Resort in Manzanillo, was extremely crowded and I am kicking myself for the waste of money. Took a water taxi around Cabo and then did the beach in front of Billygans, crowded with the bump & grind spring breakersbut it was cheap and the kids loved playing in the ocean. Nothing like spending Easter listening to Katie Perry and Sir Mixalot watching people doing jello-shots. The kids loved the tender rides in Cabo to see the pelicans and seals.
I think the highlight of the trip for me was knowing so many people on the ship. I loved running into all of you and chatting. I think Kevin was annoyed with me at the end because he kept loosing me since I would find someone to talk to. Getting to know all of you before the cruise and then finally meeting and talking in person was great. Ann-Marie, Virdis, Gabriela, and Vitorthank you for being such great table mates. We really enjoyed getting to know you guys. Danny was saying on the way home how he is going to miss Elijah. We will have to meet up again. Paul, you were definitely the man around the ship. We saw you everywhere. It was great talking to you guys and Sierra and Savanna are great girls. Would love to see you guys on DCL again sometime. Susan, Sandy, Dany, Karen, Helen, Connie, Pennyglad I ran into you girls several times and had the chance to talk. Kel, hope you are having a fun time still in SoCal. We will need to meet up in Discovery Kingdom a few more times. Michelle, wish I ran into you guys more. It seems like a saw some of you a bunch of times and others never ran into.
If anyone ever wants to come to the Sacramento area, you are all welcome to come and stay with us. However, I will not turn down you bed, create a towel animal, or leave you a chocolate at bedtime.
We loved all the FEs, they were awesome and fun. Helen, my kids used your bags to hold all of their gifts in. They are having fun going through all of their treasures at home. Thank you to everyone for such thoughtful and fun gifts. Also thank you to Stacey, Gabriela and Penny for the wonderful birthday presents for Isabelle, that was too sweet of you girls.
I was a tad disappointed in our servers and stateroom host. They did their jobs but did not add the special extra touches that I like on a cruise. Our asst. server asked every single night what we wanted to drink. One of my favorite things of a cruise is to come to the dinner table and have my iced tea waiting for me. Also, we did not get the fun hats made out of napkins for the character breakfast. I did notice about half the restaurant got them and half did not. I felt our waiter had his hands full taking our orders and getting the food out, he did not really have time to be too personal. Our stateroom host I saw like 1 time the entire 10 nights. Again, our rooms were cleaned quickly and well, he just did not add any personal touches. I think for our next cruise I will get recommendations of excellent serving teams for the boards and request them. That makes a big difference for me.
I cant wait to take our next DCL cruise. We did book 2 rooms for dummy dates, but it looks like only one room got booked. I need to call up DCL today and check on the other room. Hoping to cruise in May of 2013. Also, we noticed last night that we left a toy in our room. Not sure if it can be returned, but I will call and ask. Too bad I cant meet the ship in San Francisco tomorrow and pick up our toy.
Thank you to everyone for a fantastic 18 months on our meet thread. I am going to miss coming here everyday. If anyone wants to keep in touch you can find me on FB under Kristi McAlpin Howard or my email is kh @ kristihoward dot com Of course, I will continue to be on the DIS boards as well.
