Car Rentals in May

I have a question about checking in online and the kiosk. On Alamo's website, it makes it sound like you check in online and then you still have to visit the kiosk. I also used the $40 coupon code so I guess I won't be able to check in online. But I can still just visit the kiosk instead of waiting in line, right? I'll just have to input all of my information at the kiosk instead of doing it online.

yes you can se the kiosk instead of waiting at the counter. do the "Save Time" thing on the Alamo website before you go...it asks you to enter your license # and all that info, then when you get to MCO, use the kiosk, it will ask you to verify the info is correct and then print the agreement, go out to the aisle to pick your car, stop at the gate attendant on the way out and that's it.

DH does it all the time for work(not at MCO though) and he said it's super easy and quick.

Is the Kiosk inside on level one or out by the cars in the parking garage? MCO

good to know that he didn't have a problem at other airports, since I'm picking up at MIA. :thumbsup2

I was able to check in online for a rental back in March and it was so nice to just pick out a car and basically leave, I guess dealing with the kiosk will be fine. :rotfl: ;)

just booked 2 for 2 weeks. with entertainment book discount the rate is $204 for 2 weeks. can you also join alamo insiders and save more if your using entertinment book. just to add the $204 is with all taxes as well.

Just wanted to report that I rented a midsize vehicle from Alamo at MCO for $101 & it was a 10 day rental. Got to the midsize aisle and there were more SUV's and mini vans than anything. Ended up with a 2011 Ford Escape! Was super happy! This was Sat 5/7 at 11am

I wish I could take the chance with a midsize and HOPE a mini van was there because we need it.. but I'm not willing to take the chance...

How may kiosks are there? 1?

I've found the insiders 20% and the $40 off have beat any other deal.. Entertainment.. Costco.. BJ's etc.. anyone else find different?

I feel the same way. I've been seriously contemplating changing my reservation...we only NEED the minivan for the first 3 days of our trip and we could manage with a car the rest of the time (though luggage would be tough on the way to the hotel) but i'm just not sure i want to take the chance. Still considering it though...if we need to we can have a few of us take DME.

Right now i've got from May 28th to June 5th for 199.00 including the taxes... I'm 23 so i booked with Hertz and used the underage driver coupon.. I need to add my mom as an additional driver, however it will be another 91.00 to add her ! Anyway around the additional driver you guys can think of?

We can both join AAA for 96.00 and we get the free additional driver but thats 5.00 more than just paying hertz. Or is the AAA discount worth it in Orlando? I'm using a 20-30% discount code at the moment, is that better than the AAA discount?

And does anyone know if joining the Hertz gold club avoid the credit check when using a debit card?

We head down every May and October and have not seen a van yet on the B side (although that doesn't mean there hasn't been any). If you need a van, I would suggest booking a van - I would not take a chance one being on the EA. :sad2:

No, there are a few kiosks

When are you going? We don't have the ME express option and need it for the luggage and space with carseat. I'd prefer like a Tahoe or similar SUV because that's what I drive now but not worth the money!!

we are going the 24th-30th. My mom will be with us the 24th-27th. Without my mom, we can fit in a bigger car...it's a tight squeeze (3 adults and 2 kids) and it would mean DD wouldn't use a booster (she still uses one at home but probably not for much longer), and it would also mean we would take our small stroller instead of the big jogger (DS will happily sit in his jogger but hates any other strollers). I think we'd also struggle getting the luggage for the 5 of us into the trunk.

I told my husband that we'd save probably $50-60 by downgrading and taking the chance, but he said he'd rather just pay the money to make sure we get one...the stroller issue is the biggest reason for me...i don't want to carry him all over the park :cutie:

how does it work to pick up your car at sanford? we have never flown in there before. is there a kiosk?

Picked up my rental at 9am on A side today. Midsize I had a choice of some HHRs, minivans, malibus, and dodge avengers. I picked a fully loaded avenger and I think I may be in love. I also spied some HHRs in the compact aisle as I was leaving.

I booked thru Alamo and got a great deal using the 20% discount and $40 off coupon. If I check in at the kiosk, will I have to provide a coupon when we hand in our contract in the garage?

no, there is no physical coupon that needs to be provided
