I was just wondering if anyone has ever left something in a room when they checked out and actually had it returned. This is the second time this has happened and both times we were at Kadani.

Let me first say that we travel a LOT! It seems that at least once a month we are in a hotel somewhere so we have gotten pretty good about making sure we have everything when we check out. I always take extra time to sweep the room and bathroom right as we are walking out.

So last year we stayed at Kadani and I had left a pair of hidden mickey shaped earrings out on the ledge in the bathroom on purpose. I was going to put them on right before we left and I totally forgot about them. We rushed down to get the Magical Express and as soon as we boarded the plane I noticed I forgot to put them in….totally my fault. So we get home a few hours later and I immediately call the resort. I am told to call back first thing in the morning. I call back and leave a detailed message and I receive a call a few days later saying they have not been turned in. OK, it is possible that they swept them in the trash and housekeeping really never found them.

So here we are the following year. This time I had my iPhone charger plugged into the outlet behind the nightstand. I physically had to move the nightstand to get to the outlet so it was well hidden. I swear my DH said he got both phone chargers and put them in the normal bag where we always keep them. Apparently he didn’t (that’s a whole different story). So assuming he got the charger, as he said he did, I do my final sweep and the room is clear. Off we go to the airport.

So we get home that night and my charger isn’t there. I ask DH and he said he never got it….anyway…Point is the charger was still plugged into the wall. So I call Kadani immediately because we had friends traveling with us and they were not checking out until the following day thinking they could grab my charger and bring it home for me. Of course someone had already checked into that room and housekeeping was gone for the day. It was Labor Day weekend and we checked out on Sunday so the things found by housekeeping would not be “processed” by lost and found until Tuesday is what I was told when I called. I was told to call back on Tues…which I did and they said to call back again because it may not have been processed. I finally call back and they said it was never found….REALLY? How can you not see an iPhone charger plugged into an outlet??? Sorry…I am a little upset.

I just find it a bit suspicious that this has happened twice and both times I was not able to retrieve my things. I may understand the earrings, but iPhone charger? Has anyone ever gotten there things back? It really bothers me that they would be that dishonest and makes me nervous about letting anyone in for housekeeping.

We left something behind only once, on our very first stay. DH left his car keys (and house key). Fortunately, they were found and Disney mailed them overnight in a kittle box. We landed very late at night back home and tore our luggage apart looking for the keys before DH realized what he'd done. Fortunately, it was less than 3 miles from Worcester Airport to our house (but all uphill and COLD!), where he woke a neighbor, who had another key to our house and picked up the rest of the family. Boy, did Disney come thru on that one!

:cheer2: That is great to hear! I am glad it all worked out for you. I would hope that with something like keys they would be all over that. I still can not figure out why you would want someone's earrings...I think I maybe paid $2 for them off eBay so they were not expensive, but they were totally original.

In February, 2001, we drove down from Michigan. When we arrived at OKW, DH hung up his winter leather jacket in the closet and left it there. By the time he remembered it, we were already back in Tennessee! He realized he was a little chilly and started looking for the coat. OOPS! When we got home, we called the resort (I have no idea if we got the resort itself or some centralized call center) and told them. They took our information and told us that they would let us know if they found it.

We completely forgot about it, figuring it was gone for good. Then one day, a package arrived via FedEx from Disney. I thought I'd won something! Nope...it was the hubby's jacket! It showed up about a month after our stay, but we did get it back. It was a unique jacket in that it was his "gift" for buying a lifetime membership in the NAHC, but it wasn't particularly expensive.

:scratchin I am starting to wonder if I upset someone there and they have nasty notes about me in the computer....I am happy for you finally got the jacket back. It has been over a year for the earrings so I think I am out of luck there...however, it has only been a few weeks for the iPhone charger so maybe...

I've left articles of clothing three times at BWV! You'd think by now I'd remember to check the dresser drawers before I leave. I've gotten my clothes back every time. Next month I'm going to put a note on the door "Check the drawers and closet before checking out of this room."

We left my Kindle charger in the wall at HH. I asked DH to grab it and he did, but didn't realize that there is USB port that plugs into the charger on the wall end, thereby leaving the charger itself in the wall plug and only taking the USB cable.
Of course I didn't realize it was missing until the day after we got home and I went to recharge my kindle. I called HH and gave them our room number.
3 days later there was a small box in the mail with my Kindle wall charger :cool1:

Just another reason to love our DVC ;)

You are dealing with people and some will turn in found items and some won't. My understanding is that found items are eventually forwarded to a central lost and found somewhere on property.

With over 30,000 resort rooms on property, my guess is that left behind items are hauled away by the truck load.

I am glad that you got your charger back but to be correct, DVC had nothing to do with it. Disney Resorts employs the CM's working at the resorts.

In august I left a wallet with my stuff for home sitting on top of the safe in our Kidani room (I only carry a subset of stuff around at WDW). I called the day after checkout and the lost and found person was immediately able to tell me they had it. Since I was still at WDW I was able to drive over and pick it up from the front desk.

I'd love to be able to say "oh, it's Disney--of course someone will turn in the lost item and you'll have it back in a couple of weeks!"

But we're talking about a company that employs over 60,000 people in Central Florida, many of whom are earning minimum wage or just above. Even Disney doesn't have the resources--or the labor pool--to filter out the bad apples.

Genuine iPhone chargers retail for about $50. Plop that sucker on eBay and you could buy a pretty nice dinner for the family. To someone earning $10 per hour, I'm sure the temptation is there. Not saying it's right...but let's not kid ourselves and pretend it isn't happening.

Nothing wrong with filing a report through Disney lost & found but I wouldn't even waste time with follow-up phone calls. If it didn't quickly reappear, Disney will probably claim that their people never saw it and a newly-arriving guest may have kept it. (And they could be correct.)

Either way they aren't going to admit any liability. There isn't much else they can (reasonably) do to screen incoming employees. And the charger isn't going to magically reappear after the 5th phone call or 10th phone call.

Good luck.

It's somewhere near either the Transportation & Ticket Center or the Magic Kingdom.

When I took my nephew, he lost his cell phone at Epcot. We went to lost and found at Epcot, which I think was at Guest Relations. They told us that if it was found and we didn't pick it up, it would be sent to the central lost and found the next day. Somebody did turn in the phone and we were able to get it at Epcot that day, so we didn't have to go to the central lost and found.

But I remember thinking it would be okay if it were sent to the central lost and found because we were going to be at the Magic Kingdom the next day anyway for the Keys to the Kingdom Tour.

OP, just in case your charger doesn't appear in the mail, I wanted you to know that you are not the only one with bad luck at Disney Lost and Found. I lost a camera once and an iPhone another time. I never got back either of them. Sad but true.

The staff at Kidani preformed a Mini - miracle! Our then 5 year old grand daughter brought her blankie, ..left her blankie at Kidani. This was a tattered blanket.....it was found and returned the next afternoon! The family lives in FL, mom was able to drive over and pick it up! This was January, 2012.

I had a phone returned, mailed back to me by Disney, postage paid, around 3 years ago.

My dad left a Purdue ball cap on top of the entertainment center at BLT. Knows exactly where he left it. Amazingly, it was not found.

We were in a 2BR CL room at Jambo last summer and our nephew lost his Kindle Fire. We moved over to BLT and immediately realized it was missing. We called, but nothing was turned in. We called a couple of times after getting back, but no luck. He was sleeping on one of the folding beds, and we are almost 100% certain that it slid into one of the cracks on the side of the bed and it probably is still there! The reason we have this theory is that we found someones Nintendo DS in the crevice of the fold-out chair in the BLT room that we moved to!

We have found something in the room almost every time we have gone. There was the DS, then a cumber bun or bow tie, and most recently a non-Apple phone charger. We turned them all in to the front desk.

I would not be surprised if your phone charger is still plugged in behind the night stand. It will be found by the next guest who needs to plug their charger into that outlet moves the night stand and finds it. Now, the earrings are probably a goner.

We stayed at Animal Kingdom Jambo this past June. My son left his DS case with all his games in it on a lounge chair by the pool. Unfortunately, it was never found or turned in :(

We were also lucky. A few years ago we left behind my dd's Harry Potter souvenir items in one of the draws. Of course being lazy after getting home, she did not unpack til about 3/4 days after getting home which is when she realized she did not have them.

Called WLVs and they in turn transferred me to Lost and Found. They had her items and were shipped to us immediately.

Over the years, we have left a variety of things in rooms, and nothing has ever been returned to us. Once it was a sweater that I left on the back of a chair. Once I left my pajamas hanging in the bathroom. Another time, it was my son's blankie, that I think was left in the bedding from the pull out bed. We left our shampoo and conditioner from home in the shower at AKL. Once it was the charger for my computer, that I know where I had it plugged. But the one item that really bothers me is my son's gameboy that he lost when he was about 5-6 years old.

We were staying at GF, and I was attending a medical conference. The evening before we checked out, we had dinner at Boma. The last time I remember seeing his gameboy was when we were watching animals outside AKL, waiting for our table. My husband took my son inside to go to the rest room, and I presume they had his gameboy with them. We ate dinner, then my husband dropped my son and me off at the front of the building when we returned, and we walked to our room, stopping at the gift stores to shop on the way back. Then, we went back to the room to do the preliminary packing. My course wasn't over until the next day, so, I left for my course, leaving my husband and son to finish packing. So,while I am at the course, and about 10:30 or so, my phone rings, and it's my son asking me where his gameboy is. So, when the course is over, we all retrace our steps to search for the gameboy. Couldn't find it. My son was too young to remember where he might have left it or the last time he had it. We reported it missing, and I checked at both AKL and GF multiple times, along with central Lost and Found. They explained that they hold things for a certain time, so, I called repeatedly during that time. They not only told me that they didn't have my son's gameboy (which had his name and phone number on it), but no gameboys had been turned it for the entire 90 days that I had been calling to see if his gameboy had been found. To me that was incredible. That would be like saying that no Iphones had been lost and turned in at WDW for 90 days today. Amazing. Particularly, when gameboys were popular, I personally had found and turned in gameboys more than once.

But, ironically, on this same trip, my SIL had left her purse in the restroom in the GF lobby, and we had gone out to dinner somewhere not on Disney property. We were able to call, and the front desk at GF had her purse, somebody had turned it in, and nothing was missing.

We stayed at VB June 5 with my parents. My dad left his cell phone charger. We reported it. Believe it or not they called Thursday September 12!!!! They found it and was shipping it to his home address! I still can't believe it. Where was it for all these months?
On the other hand I left my fanny pouch, remember those, on our last ride before heading to airport. You guessed it, I left it and it had all my ID and it was not turned in ever.
It was terrible! The Orange County sheriff had to come and take a sworn statement from my DH that I was his wife and yes I was me! We barely made the flight.
So, yes folks they do locate things and sometimes they don't.
