The new pool scheduled to open soon at Aulani is called KaMaka Gratto? This is a family pool with after dark experience such as glittering lights?

Is there also an addition of an adult pool? Was this some sort of enhancement to the Walana Pool?

Thanks very much for clarification on the new pools at Aulani!

CANNOT WAIT TO SEE PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2::):):)

The new Ka Maka Grotto is a themed family pool with an infinity edge, a misty grotto with sunset views, and an after-dark experience with glittering lights. This is the only "new" pool that is being added at Aulani.

The Wailana Leisure Pool was already in place before the enhancements began in September 2012. The pool deck around the Wailana Pool is being expanded, allowing for more chairs, and it might offer more cabanas. There were two cabanas at the Wailana Pool previously.

I have read conflicting reports whether the Wailana Pool will be designated as an "adult only" pool when it reopens. It wasn't just for adults before it closed last Fall.

Thanks!I am sure that the enhancements will be beautiful! So anxious for the soft opening and to see pictures!:dance3::dance3:

We arrive Oct 2----I know Aulani was wonderful before, but am looking forward to all the enhancements I've been reading about this last year!!!

We just returned from Aulani so just posted pictures on the construction update site. It looks very nice. Wish we were still there.

We are at Aulani now. Soft opening scheduled for tomorrow! We will try to post pix and info tomorrow.

Ka Maka Grotto pool, Keiki Cove, and new cafe open and very popular. New pool definitely a family pool. Grotto hot tub boiling over with children. Pool depth 3'6" at entry, 4' in grotto, 4'6" at edge of infinity pool. New restrooms, New bar working. Perhaps unsurprisingly, lounge chairs are plentiful around the "old" pool and the lazy river is not as busy as last weekend, despite an apparent increase in occupancy. Wish I knew how to post pictures from the DisBoards ap. :cool1:

Can confirm that Wailana pool is reserved for 18 and up. Signage posted. Rules enforced by cast members. 3 cabanas at Wailana pool. Lots of poolside food and drink available. :thumbsup2

So the KaMaka Grotto Pool is the new family pool and the Wailana Pool is the adult pool for 18 and up?

CANNOT WAIT TO SEE BOTH!!!:dance3:

Thanks for the clarification!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Anybody have more pics other than the one promotional pic on Facebook and the Disney Parks Blog? Seeing more people in the pool might give us a better idea on the size of the pool.

I would also love to see pics and/or info on the Ulu Cafe! I'm hoping the cafe is nice, convenient and affordable! I can't wait to see it.

The adult pool is actually the first adult only pool in any Disney resort. All the others are "quiet" pools. It will be interesting to see how it is received by guests. Also, the three cabanas near the adult pool are also adult only, everyone in the party needs to be 18+.

Can you clarify something about the cabanas?

There are three new cabanas by the Ka Maka Grotto Pool, which is a Family pool. Since these cabanas are near a Family Pool, am I right in assuming these cabanas are available to families with children?

Before construction began, the Wailana Leisure Pool had two cabanas. How many cabanas are there now at the Wailana Leisure Pool? Two? Three? Are these the cabanas that are restricted for adults only?

3 cabanas at Wailana. I would presume that they are adult only, but don't know for certain. Cabanas at Grotto pool were being used by families.
