Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

page 228-231

Such a helpful thread and great community.

This is our first time renting DVC points. We we will be staying in a Studio Villa October 2-9. I'm unsure about how Mousekeeping works in this situation. Do I need to request it upon check-in? Additionally, do we check in at the BC main lobby? Any others tips for first time DVC renters that I may not know about? I appreciate any info!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest we keep on Page 1.

I have never done a villa stay, but I believe others have since given you some info.

:cool1:

Just booked my trip for February Vacation! I'll be at the Beach Club from Friday, February 12 - Saturday, February 20! I've only ever stayed at the Yacht Club before so I'm looking forward to meeting new people! :earsgirl:

I know you posted a few weeks ago, but here is an official

:welcome:

for you.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

I'm never on here but popped on as we are getting ready for a possible October trip.

:welcome: back!

Let us know if you book so I can add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:goodvibes:

I know this has been answered but I sure can't find it and the closer I get to departure, the less brain power I have. The confirm my room requests are in place, should I call the hotel directly? Or the main reservation line?

We're going back to Beach Club Dec 25- Jan 5th. Last time we stayed here was Aug 2014 so looking forward to the seeing the renovated rooms. We stayed at BWI in March and those renovated rooms were really nice and spacious.

Does anyone know if we go to Beaches and Cream without a reservation, can we order the Kitchen Sink (and not the mini sink). We have family that will be stopping to visit and I thought this would be something fun and I can't get an ADR for 8. Not surprised since it is so small inside.

Dee...
Glad you got home safely and thanks for sharing all the pictures...I really wish I could have been there this year.

We had to change our dates for October as we found out Madison's senior recognition/awards night was going to take place while we were away. Being her last year in high school, there's no way we can miss that!! When you get a chance, can you update the BOG list? We will now be staying at the BC from 10/18-10/22, no CL this time.

As always, thanks for all you do my friend :flower3:.

I'll make the adjustment!

:goodvibes:

I'm considering the Beach Club for my stay next year (October 2016). Two quick questions, for those who know:

1. Are the Friendship boats to DHS & Epcot accessible for ECVs?

2. Does Hurricane Hanna's only serve food during certain hours, or anytime that they are open?

Thank you! :cutie:

:welcome:

Let us know if you book and I will add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

That's a good question about Hurricane Hanna's. I don't know the answer for sure, but I think they serve food during all the hours they are open.

::yes::

I hope it's ok to share here, we just got back from spending last weekend at the BC and it was amazing! We spent most of Friday night and all day on Saturday at the pool and it was a wonderful way to finish our trip! My kids spent HOURS playing in the sand. At first we were assigned a room with a very large balcony overlooking the quiet pool, but we have three kids and we really needed the daybed for our 5-year-old. The staff was SO SO nice and quickly sorted it out and assigned us a new room (#4643) with a little balcony (almost identical to one that we have on our house at home lol) with an amazing view of Cresent Lake and the Boardwalk. After coming from the Poly we couldn't get over how much faster the elevators were at BC, and walking into EPCOT was much cooler then I ever expected, has to be the best way to enter any park ever :teeth: We walked over to the Boardwalk Bakery twice while we were there and that was really neat. I've always wanted to go to the Disney Boardwalk but never had the chance. My kids loved the photo booths there!

Anyway, thought I'd share a couple photos from our time at BC!
Amazing view, balcony fits a 10-year-old and a 5-year-old :)

I can't remember if you posted before your trip, but in case you didn't

:welcome: to this thread!

Thank you for the review of your stay and the room pictures. Would you mind if I added your pictures to the view/room description thread?

:thumbsup2

Shamelessly checking my updated ticker and looking forward to both visits! We will be staying at BCV in May and look forward to returning but we are still trying to decide on our best request--thinking near main building and pool view. We aren't picky on floors. Does anyone know though--is it true the coffee pots in the studios are only 4 cup pots versus the 8 cup pots at the other DVCs? I need to prepare with appropriate filters. I suppose I can swing by and check when we are there in October (BWV). :)

Our daughter and soon to be son-in-law will soon be honeymooning at BC CL as well. She has had the pleasure in the past but this is their first "on their own" trip without us being the primary planners and in control. They are both looking forward to their stay and I know she has been scouring the boards and trip reports for information. So if you're reading kiddo--.

Just wanted to pop in and say hello and that I have been following this thread and previous incarnations for years--just haven't had a reason to post (or at least not frequently) I guess. :confused3

:welcome: Tess!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for May.

:woohoo:

I think others have replied as well, but yes, 4 cup coffee makers at this time in the studios, 8 cup in the 1 and 2 BR villas.

So I think the answer to your question is, yes, IF you are able to be seated at Beaches & Cream, then you could certainly order a Kitchen Sink. However, I think that it is very difficult to get walk-ins there, especially if you are a party of 8, due to the size of the restaurant, as you pointed out. You may have the most luck if you arrive just as Beaches & Cream opens.

Although many things, including the mini sink, are available at the takeout window, I think you must be seated inside for the Kitchen Sink (now available in at least 3 different versions)

I wouldn't count on it. If you go near mealtime, I would think all the tables would be full of people who made ADRs. Even if you go at an off hour, it's so small in there I would think it would be tough to get a table for 8 people. (I assume you meant you can't get an ADR for 8 people, not that you can't get an ADR for fewer people at 8:00 pm.) And you are going at a really busy time of year.

We are staying at YC for the first time Sept 25-28, so joining in this thread! Can't wait!!!

Can anyone please tell me if a Dedicated studio is better or quieter than the lock off studios? Planning a trip to the BCV soon but have always stayed at the resort and not the villas. The resort walls are like paper and your neighbors are practically in your room noise wise. Looking for the quietest type of studio and location to request at BCV. Thank you for any help you can provide.

:welcome: Nick!

I have never stayed on the villa side of the resort, so I can't answer your question. Hopefully someone will be able to help.

:goodvibes:

Hello!

Thank you so much for this fun and helpful thread. We'll be back in WDW (after thirteen years) and at The Beach Club (after twenty-plus) from October 22nd to October 29th of 2016.

Everyone's all grown up now, so we'll be a family of five adults (my daughter and son-in-law, my granddaughter and grandson ... and short - 4'11" - and ancient - 73 - me) in one of the two-bedroom suites. And because I know exactly which one of the seven I'm wishing for, I was up at 7:00 AM on the morning of our 499th Day-Out (and at 7:00 AM every morning for the following five days) to book our stay. And I've made my request of every Cast Member and Itinerary Planner - who have all (and, most especially, Patty) been wonderfully welcoming - I've spoken with. I've also emailed a picture or two.

In other words, I've been very casual about the whole thing. I think a low-key approach to obsession always works best, don't you ... :)

So, though I've been following the thread for weeks now, could you please officially add us to the list? After all these years, we're going to need all of the expert advice we can get.

gg

:welcome:

Great intro post!

Yes, it would be my pleasure to add you to the list.

Hit us with whatever questions you have.

:cool1:

As my mom just mentioned, we will be honeymooning at BC CL in just a few short weeks. I've been trying to catch up on he thread before posting!

We leave 9/29 and will be spending some time exploring the dark side and staying at Hard Rock until 10/1. We will be checking into BC CL on 10/1-10/8 and are looking so forward to F&W! Can't wait for our magical vacation in just 24 days! :cool1:

:welcome: and Congratulations!

Glad to see you over here! (I do promise I will get back to my Hard Rock/US/IoA report soon...)

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Thank you very much! I've heard wonderful things about you!

Thanks for letting us know about your trip, and once again, I would love to add your review of the trip to this thread's Trip Report section.

:thumbsup2[/QUOTE]

You absolutely can add my review to the trip report section. Thanks for all you do!

I am not long back from a stay at the Beach Club Villas and while I love just about everything the resort has to offer there were a couple of things that REALLY annoyed me - both related to Stormalong Bay.
First one was the lack of sunbeds - we were there mid-august and if we were not at the pool before 11am then finding a free sunbed (or even a chair) was just about impossible. Why are there so few sunbeds?
There were acres of open space so plenty of room for more but it seems like the powers that be just don't want people to use the pool. I would be surprised if it was a safety/capacity issue as when we stayed at universal's Royal Pacific Resort on the same trip there was a much higher density of sunbeds and they were right up to the pool side.
Secondly, no sunshades apart from the ones attached to tables. So, if you can find a sunbed then prepare to be roasted!
We actually ended up outside the pool area under a couple of palm trees on the beach!
Is this a ploy to make people leave the pool area and go spend money in the parks/shops?
Honestly, it's the one issue that puts me off going back (and this from a BCV owner)
(Rant over:o)

Hi! Thank you :wave2: Of course you can use my room view pictures. I even have couple more - they're just from my iPhone so nothing fancy but a good idea of what you're getting with a Crescent Lake view. We were supposed to be standard view so I was a bit excited when we got to the room :teeth: Sorry - it was overcast on our check-in day!

We've been home a week now and I still can't get over how impressive SAB is! We had so much fun, and I want to go back, like, now!

Thank you so much!!! That is a lovely view.

I know you said it was a balcony that fit a 10 year old and 5 year old. Was it one of the smaller ones?

:goodvibes:

Just returned from a 10 night trip (5 at Poly/5 at YC) that was incredible. Although we loved both resorts, we fell head-over-heels for the Yacht Club! It is so beautiful!!!! Loved the rooms, love the lobby, gorgeous hallways, awesome store (Fittings and Fairings), etc, etc. The location couldn't be beat and both Storm-Along-Bay and the quiet pool (loved doing laundry while sitting the pool/jacuzzi!) were incredible. We had a standard view booked and I fully expected a bad view (especially after having in incredible marina view w/a balcony at the Poly) but we were on the 4th floor in the dead center of the resort and had a huge (shared) balcony and a great view of Wishes from our beds. Close to the elevators, pools, etc. I'll post pics later but just had to share my love here!

Oh yeah, it was a Juliette balcony, just enough room to step out and check out the view, but no place to sit. Standing room only :)

What we have here is the need to pack a unbreakable thermos, chilled and filled with the alcoholic beverage of your choice and a latex, rainbow colored, flower petal-ed bathing cap that will provide you with "on location" shade where ever you may roam whilst you are wearing it.

I have often wondered if they would try to install rented cabanas at the pool but I just don't see where they would fit them in aside from the beach where you were hanging out at. Also keep in mind Ninja Mom's cardinal rule about people who try to use a pool towels to reserve multiple, unused pool seating. If there are no personal belongings on the chair feel free to remove the pool towel and drag the chair off to a location that would be to your liking. Unfortunately this tip is too late for your trip but I'm repeating it in case someone else experiences the same shortage of sun beds for the upcoming trips. That middle of August time frame seems to be the last gasp of the summer rush so you had to deal with a seating shortage.

There are signs throughout the pool area asking guests not to save chairs but you know how that goes... This is all the more reason why it's perfectly acceptable to abscond with a pool chair that only has a pool towel on it. Moving the chair to a new location also has the added benefit of not revealing who took the chair away from the absent chair piggies lest they return.

Hopefully, you had a great vacation aside from the lack of chaise lounges and shade.:goodvibes End of summer usually is a very busy time at on site resorts and the lack of chaise lounges and shade seem to be a concern of guests on different resort threads. Since the villa rooms have not been renovated yet and no definite date for the renovation has been announced, I am curious if you were you pleased with the condition of your villa? :confused3What about the location of your villa, were you pleased?:confused3 Thanks in advance!

ok.. as you might have gathered, there was a lot of stuff that went on that I did not mention during the trip. Now that the trip is over, I can relate some of them, just, hopefully to make you laugh, roll your eyes, or be grateful you did not have to deal with her.

They were late for EVERYTHING, including reservations, and meeting up with the tour guide.

The thing that was angering me the most was the fact that she was the one who told me they could only go for a very very short amount of time, so I booked the tour guide to maximize the time in the parks. Then she complained they did not have time to shop or walk slowly around epcot, while we were paying over $300 an hour for a tour guide to take everyone on rides....then it was too rainy, too sunny, too hot, too cold, too crowded, too quiet. We had credits left over from dining, so of course 'the dining package was a waste of money'...We would have been fine if they were not always so late...

She tried to tell us that certain people (my dad) did not want to ride test track, when it was a running joke my dad always wanted to ride TT, but every time it was shut down due to rain....!!! She never asked him, she just spouts out whatever comes in her head at that second. She told us people were sick when they were not, people were tired when they were so excited. She tried to say her kids did not want to see or do something when she had no idea what it was we wanted them to see or do. The parks were open too long or not long enough. She argued, complained and tried to take control of every single situation. Every time the kids touched anything (they are 9-17) she slathered everyone with hand sanitizer and she interrogated each person on what they touched.

Based on her animosity on anything Disney, I did not try to do matching Tshirts or anything like that...she decided to use fabric paint and make her own...and...HEY! that shocked me! I was actually pleasantly surprised she would do this! I even thanked her! The men's shirts were cute! ...but for the women, instead of leaving the shirts alone she CUT THEM UP making them look like something out of a rejected 80's beach movie! Her 15 year old daughter refused to wear it. I refused too. It might look 'cute' on a 9 year old, but on a busty adult, it looked...trashy. (she cut the collar out, and shredded the shirts to ribbons and then 'tied' the cut pieces back together.)

Okay, that is out of my system...the trip ended...I hope my dad had a good time...I really do. He wants to come down with just my hubby and I on our next Disney Trip...and the kids do, too. I guess we did it right.

Nice noodle, I love the combo of pink noodle with that green refillable mug. And that bathing cap truly makes a statement!
