DCL Summer 2017 Megathread - Itineraries are out!

Well after an hour and a half of non stop busy signals I have to head to work to try to pay for one of these cruises lol! I'll try again on my lunch break and if that doesn't work I'll have to wait until tonight. I have a feeling I'll be sad at the pricing...

:sad2: I am overwhelmingly stunned by the pricing I am seeing. The Alaska prices, for a 9-night, are double what we paid for a 7-night PLUS land portion in 2012 on HAL. And we were three adults. The British Isles prices are several thousand more for 2 adults than we paid for 3 adults! And those prices are mostly for oceanview rooms, whereas we had a verandah. People need to stop paying these ridiculous prices before Disney will get the message. Maybe if they start having half empty ships they may get the idea. I feel like we will never be able to afford to sail Disney again -- and not be able to make use of our Platinum status.

Looking at the prices being posted -- you almost feel like you're being punked because it just seems impossible that they could be for real!

Wow! That would be interesting... I wonder what an early online opening would do to all the people planning on a TA making reservations in the morning...

It could very well be that the person got a wrong information because the DCL CM misunderstood that the caller was asking about new itineraries and thought it was about making your Palo reservations and online check-in. The later does open at midnight EST. Now I am wondering if I should have posted about that post on there, but when I read it I thought it would be interesting for others on this thread as well!

My wife has been on hold for 1 hour 15 minutes and just got through to Disney. I'm not sure if Costco (the TA we are using) remained on hold along with her, though. Yes, they wanted her to call them back later, so she called Disney herself and had them stay on the line with her. Seems kinda backwards. LOL.

The Disney agent told her that current wait times on their end are showing 1.5 hours. They evidently are testing a new system today and the phones WERE down earlier this morning. Great day to bring something new online. :rolleyes1

Finally got booked!! Not too much different on the Norway for this year - off to the other thread to add prices. Good luck to all still trying!

yay! Finally booked! 2 hours later then the first time I called and was hung up on. But all worked out. Good luck everyone still waiting!

Thanks! I'm looking for pricing for july or august...and if that's price for an oceanview I'm thinking yikes for a veranda!

I know. Plus May is typically cheaper than July or August. That's why I was going to try for that. Now I'm not so sure.

Costco is still claiming they can't get through so calling direct. Does anyone know if I can then transfer the booking to Costco?

My wife called Disney direct and then called Costco once she had Disney on the phone and connected the calls together. It was a total pain and took about 2 hours to get through, but she was able to get us booked for 11-night Southern Caribbean. I think she gave the Disney agent all the info and set everything up once while waiting for the Costco agent. They basically did that person's job for her. Costco's policies are silly and not like a traditional TA, but they give the best incentives.

The British Isle prices are a little outlandish. For the price of 2 inside cabins on DCL I can get access to the haven in a 2BR suite with butler service on one of NCL's newest ships... really hard to justify the extra money for a port intensive itinerary. I may do Europe on NCL then book a 5night double dip with DCL so we can enjoy the newer boat and Castaway Cay. Those are coming in around 5k for my family which is still high but I feel I am really paying more to enjoy the unique Disney feature on the boat which I will do more in the Caribbean then in Europe.

Yes, you can, and that is what Costco recommended I do. If you don't have an OBB to transfer, its probably the easiest thing to do at this point. Just book with DCL, and then call Costco to get whatever form you need to transfer.

I just posted 4 quotes in the pricing thread. All I'm going to say is this. We will most likely either move our DCL reservation for later, or cancel altogether. My wife is telling me to save it for now since we still have a lot of time left on it.

The itineraries we are interested in are incredibly expensive, and no, we are not looking at concierge staterooms. A category 10A (Deluxe Inside Stateroom) for the 10-Nights Mediterranean next year is over $10K with OBB! The 9-Nights Alaskan in category 10A is also over $10K without OBB and around $9600 with OBB.

Can I ask if there is anybody here who uses Dreams Unlimited, who is still waiting for confirmation of their booking? My TA sent me a note to say she is out of town but somebody would be booking on her behalf, although she didn't mention the name. Still no confirmation and no booking showing up on DCL website yet I know of others who are already seeing their bookings on DCL.
