Spring into a New Beginning- APRIL 2017 WISH Lifestyle/Weight Challenge

Easter-Bunny.jpg

Hoppy Easter everyone!!

I thought we would take a break from Walt this weekend since it is Easter. How is everyone celebrating? And for those of you that don't celebrate Easter, Do you have a spring holiday that you do celebrate?

Tomorrow My in-laws will be coming over at about 11:30 and then we will go to my moms at 4. We have a little bit of drama in regards to my family for tomorrow. My niece was diagnosed with strep this afternoon so my sister texted all of us and said that they will be over at 3 since that is the 24 hour mark of being on meds. I was mad that she was still going to bring her and told my mom. Just because she it the 24 hour mark does not mean she is not contagious anymore. She also needs to be fever free. Looking at the picture my sister posted on Facebook she is not going to better tomorrow. My mom also said that she had the sore throat since Wednesday and didn't take her in. Her family gets strep very easily and often. Well my mom told her that my niece should not come over since my grandfather will be their. He is getting over shingles so his immune system is pretty much nonexistent right now. We also just found out that he has water on the brain and they are going to do surgery soon for it so he can't get sick. Well I think that pissed my sister off and now none of them are coming. Her excuse is that her and my nephew get it really easily and will most like carry the germs to my moms so they are all staying home. I think it is a poor excuse but am happy about it. She is the one that we have issues with at every get together. Hopefully no drama tomorrow.

It was a crummy morning here. We had rain for a little bit this morning. I took my kids to the Easter egg hunt anyways and after being their for a little bit and then realizing they still had 30 minutes until the egg hunt they decided they wanted to go home so we did. We ate lunch and then started cleaning. We then went grocery shopping for tomorrow and then while the kids played outside (after the rain we had sun and 80 degree weather) I made macaroni salad and then got the egg die ready for the kids. When they got home they each colored a dozen eggs. We had dinner and then I made brownies and cupcakes for tomorrow. I didn't get my 10,000 steps but I feel like I barely sat down. My feet are killing me. I need to remember to wear my shoes in the kitchen when I am on my feet like this for so long.

Happy Easter! I hope everyone has a great day!

Tomorrow is church, come home check the rabbits, get the last minute items to take to dinner at the in-laws ( a hot vegetable, and rolls) debating if I am going to the store tonight to get decent butter or stopping on our way in tomorrow ( the spray is not acceptable, and I only have one tub of spreadable butter which always seems to end up on the table I am not seated at so I need to make sure I have 3 of them) have dinner and an egg hunt which is down to just my girls ( mainly 9 year old and great nephew if he is there as we can't even figure an every other year system due to his mom's work schedule as a CNA and that she has to alternate with her 2 sides on the other side of her family ( bonus niece who don't tell anyone I actually like better than one of the actual ones) so we only see them about every 4-5 years unless it is a eat and run situation. At least no one comes up with the idea of playing loud obnoxious games with screaming in the front room.

I am PISSED My husbands family knows that 12 year old is petrified of dogs so his 2 oldest nieces had to bring theirs along. She is not going to get to participate in the egg hunt.

I had a pretty good day. I had a brownie and and a small bowl of ice cream today. Everything else was pretty healthy. We did have some drama with my sister. I swear no get together would be complete without it. I am not sure if anyone has watched the news but in our area we have a guy who decided to kill an elder man live on facebook. It has made the news on CNN. This happened I think around 4ish today. As far as I can find they haven't found him yet. He has claimed to have killed 15 people but the cops can only find the 1. We haven't talked about it with the kids around because we don't want to freak them out. Well my sister had to say right in front of my daughter that has been having anxiety issues this year that this guy worked with mentally ill kids, teenager and there families. My sister is a social worker so she knows where all of the locations are in the area. One is in the city I live in. Without knowing which one he works for said in front of my daughter that he might be in our backyard. Well he does not work for the one in my town. He works for one that is about an hour or so away. My daughter hears and runs to hide. We had to stop her and tell her she would be ok and that he is not that close to us. I was so mad at her. Thankfully this was when we were getting ready to walk out the door to head home. My daughter seems to be doing ok but it wouldn't surprise me if she wakes we up at some point tonight.

I am a little concerned with this situation too. I have to work tomorrow and that will put me closer to the crime scene. I am really hoping they catch him tonight. My gut feeling is that he is out of the state. The last I heard they have not had a sighting of him since the incident happened. We think that he told the cops that he killed the 15 people and that he will kill more to put police on a wild goose chase in hopes of fleeing. I can't say that for sure though. So I will be worried until he is caught.

Grandma made them hold the dogs during the egg hunt so 12 year old could participate. It was just my girls and great nephew who is 8 as the baby of the rest of them is 16. Since great nephew was participating sister in law brought some eggs this year and his mom as well. ( DH had to provide eggs for the older kids for years even though he was single but now that it is his kids turn do the rest of them have to-nope rules have changed).

@piglet1979 that sounds absolutely scary and I wouldn't have blamed you if you had given your sister a royal chewing out for her stunt.

Wasn't there a question about self sabotage? I really am the queen of this.

Decided I wanted a burger for lunch and had a plan of what I was going to order. What do I do? Order the fries... looked them up afterwards. They are 700 kcal!!! They were not 700 kcal tasty. At least I only ate 2/3 of my serving.

In other news, I am finally down a little. 10% progress so far. So, now I need to go out back into the rain for a nice long walk to get rid of those fries...

Well I got back from my WDW trip and when I weighed myself I had gained 7lbs. This is despite walking for 7 miles one day, 8 miles another day, and 9 miles another day.
Just goes to show that for my body unfortuantely its much more aobut the food I put in it than the exercise I do.
Back to my new lifestyle diet.

Wait for a day or two, being back in a Healthy lifestyle might give you a quick result of losing some water weight.

But I think most of us tend to overestimate how much of an effect exercise has. My fries this lunch (see above post) would require me to run more than one hour. It is so easy on vacation to lose sight of how many calories there really are in the food you eat.

Well they still have not caught the guy yet. They have expanded the search now and have notified Indiana, Penn, and New York. Also maybe Kentucky and WV. There has also been speculation that he might have committed suicide as well. I am really hoping they find him soon. I woke up a few times last night but not for long. I really hope they find him soon.

The guy even made the news here I n Germany! Sorry for the upset, hope your daughter is not too scared!

When Walt got a car he started to drive the ink and paint girls home from the studios. He was particularly fond of a girl named Lillian Bounds. She was from Idaho and had come out to Los Angeles to visit her sister when someone told her about an opening at the Disney Brothers Studios. After dating for a little while Walt and Lillian were married on July 13, 1925.

At the same time Walt was continually negotiating with the distributor for the Alice films. The distributor told Walt constantly that they were losing money on the films but they always signed contracts for more. In 1926 after signing one of these contracts the brothers moved their studios to a new office and changed the name from the Disney Brothers Studios to the Walt Disney Studios. They thought that one name would be better at the box office. This is also when Walt grew his signature mustache. Thinking he looked too young, him and the other animators made a bet to grow mustaches. Walt liked the way it looked so he kept it.

By 1926 the Alice comedies became tired. The founder of Universal asked the distributor of the Alice cartoons to have Walt make them a cartoon about a rabbit. Oswald the lucky rabbit was born. In 1927 Poor Papa was sent to Universal but they were not happy with it. Walt reworked Oswald. He made the rabbit more appealing and found ways to make the quality of the cartoons better. These changes worked and Oswald was a hit.

Walt had to evolve his business so it would grow and stay current. How has your healthy lifestyle evolved over the years?

Really!!! I didn't think it would make it that far. Thank you for asking about my daughter. She slept through the night and was still asleep when I left the house. She seemed to be doing pretty good. I am thinking that telling her how far away he was or at least where he worked helped her.

I am not sure how it has changed other then actually working out and tracking food and going for walks as a family. I might need to think a little more about this one.

@piglet1979 That's crazy! I haven't been keeping up with the news, but that sounds just awful! Glad to hear your daughter seems to be doing ok.

A question that you might want to ask your doctor is if you are deficient in vitamin D. My mom has been very tired lately so the doctor tested her blood for vitamin levels among other things. It came back the her vitamin D levels are low. She started taking a supplement of vitamin D and she says her energy is back up.

I will definitely ask about that. I just assume that I get plenty of vitamin D because I live in FL but with sunscreen and trying to stay covered up I might not.

A fellow FL girl here that was STUNNED when my Dr said I had a vitamin D deficiency LOL So it is possible. Definitely worth an ask!

Walt had to evolve his business so it would grow and stay current. How has your healthy lifestyle evolved over the years?

For the longest time I have been focused on deprivation, because that's what I've been indoctrinated to think. But I am evolving to ADD in exercise and healthy foods and things are sorting themselves out a little. "If I'm full on watermelon, I'm not eating cookies" sort of thinking. The weight is not magically just disappearing overnight, but I think this is sustainable.

----------

The weekend was ok. My family is out of town, and so we ended up having a very small Easter with DH's parents. All was well until MIL brought out the sugar cookies and I lost all self control. I'm not beating myself up too bad. I didn't touch the candy and I worked out Sunday morning to earn me a little wiggle room Haha!

This weekend was insanely busy for me. On top of Easter, Saturday was DH's bday and I am getting ready for my trip to WDW tomorrow! I have been making Minnie ears for my friend and me. I might have gone a little overboard on them I have made 4 sets so far and have 1 more to go! And because I didn't have enough going on I decided to get a fairy door and glue it to the wall. The kids have been talking about fairies for months now so I thought it would be fun for one to come live with us. Well the kids decided to write her letters and she has been writing back every night. DH has thanked me for starting this right before I leave hahaha.

The first time I lost a lot of weight I was so good at self control. I could eat just a couple bites of dessert and be fine. I think it was just having DS10 that gave me the motivation. Now I am so bad at portion control and eating. I am just at a different place in my life. So I am trying to swap bad foods for good ones similar to @Lady Marie. I also don't want to do exercise videos all the time like I did years ago so running works well. Something different everyday and I get alone time.

I just read the story on CNN and I am so sorry you have to deal with that. I am happy to hear your daughter is doing better. My son is a worrier so I know how heartbreaking it is to have to see them go through it. I hope they catch him soon.

I am glad it worked out for you :) inconsiderate family member are the worst :rolleyes2

I agree with @Flossbolna some could be water weight. When I have weight gain like that I try to drink a lot
of water and it usually comes off pretty quickly.

In other news, I am finally down a little. 10% progress so far. So, now I need to go out back into the rain for a nice long walk to get rid of those fries...
Sounds like an early woohoo!! and it is crazy that fries can have that many calories :crazy2: and when you put it terms of how much you would have to run to burn them off :scared1:

I totally agree with this!! I think deprivation is so much apart of our society. It is much healthier to add and eventually you're going to be replacing those bad foods with the good ones.

How has your healthy lifestyle evolved over the years?

When I lost a lot of weight before I had a lot of fear foods. So I wouldn't eat things like popcorn at the movies. Or even a single piece of candy. Or hot dogs. Because I was afraid it'd derail everything. I also used to workout a lot but for unhealthy reasons. So this time around it's a completely different mindset. It's a much slower journey now but it's worth it to establish that healthy relationship with food and exercise. So I'd almost say that it's a healthier lifestyle now than it was before, simply from a mental health aspect.

-----

So one perk of living in KC is that I'm about a 2 hour drive from Marceline, MO which as we all know served as the inspiration for Main Street USA and Disney identified heavily as his "childhood home". I've never been to Marceline. I had the opportunity once but my ex wouldn't make a pit stop during our road trip. SO I have a day trip planned with a co-worker in May to go up to Marceline, visit the museum and maybe even the spot for the dreaming tree. I'm SO excited to go! I've wanted to for so long. So it's finally happening.

QOTD:

I feel like I have been on a "diet" (i.e. trying to lose weight) constantly since 2008. The sad thing is that I still haven't made it to my goal weight. The good news is that I am usually hovering between the BMIs of 24.8 to 26.1. So not really that overweight. And there are some opinions that even say that once you hit 40, a BMI in my range is still considered healthy. While I had short breaks of falling off the bandwagon, I really have stayed somewhat on course for most of that time. With such a long time of doing it the one thing that has evolved is that a lot of it has become second nature to me. I have a lot of standards that I go to and I know exactly how many calories certain meals have. With that I can manage to keep floating even when I don't feel like tracking. So, a lot of my healthy lifestyle really has become habits. However, sometimes I feel this is part of my downfall. It is no longer exciting and new and I don't have to work for it. I feel I usually did much better when I had the motivation from starting out fresh. Now it is just doing the same stuff over and over again. And some bad habits have creeped in as well. Like having cookies and candy in the house for a small treat in the evening - which far too often turns into a far too large treat. Like going out to lunch with colleagues because it is a nice social event.
