Finally Closed on our AKL contract!

Got the good news that we closed on our contract yesterday! Already recorded on the comptroller website. Now just have to wait for our membership number to come in the mail. This is our first DVC contract, and did the whole process under 60 days! Question about booking, the contract we purchased doesn't have any 2017 or 2018 points. However we plan to borrow 2019 points to go next October. We have a February use year. Do we have to wait until February to borrow to book? Thanks, Josh

No you don’t need to wait until February. You can borrow the points as long as the vacation you are trying to make falls between 2/1-2018 - 1/31/2019

So if you want to do a vacation 11/1-2018 then you can book and borrow that on 12/1-2017.

No. If you are going Oct. 2018, you can book starting in Nov. 2017 at AKV (your home resort). That is of course assuming Disney has completed the transfer (which they should have. I think ours took less than 14 days). If you are wanting to stay somewhere else, go ahead and book at AKV anyway, so you have something. Then at the 7 month mark you can look at your options and change if you want.

no need to wait for the letter to show up...

The number they send you in the letter isn't even the number you use to setup your online account. Rather, the online account needs a "club ID" number -- not your member number. Try the following:

dial 1-800-800-9800 -- option 1. Keep hitting 0 until you get a person. Then let them know that you need your club ID and activation code. It might work for you. If the first person doesn't help you -- call back and try again.

You will not need to wait until February to make your reservation. Since you are using February 2019 points to travel October of 2018, you can make the reservation once you are within the 11 month window, at your home resort. Congrats on your purchase and quick timeline. Enjoy your first trip home!
