Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I’m not sure what policy, if any, DISboards has about linking to external sites, so just do a google search for touring plans room finder will get you all the info you need for any Disney resort. They have a pull down menu that lets you fine tune your search or just click on a building on a map and click on a room. You get info like walking distances to the lobby/transportation, room type, sound level, connecting room, etc. It also gives you the view from every room! I’m not sure when they last updated it, so bed types might not be up to date with the renovations?

Unfortunately the Room Finde tool is extremely inaccurate when it comes to room types, room viewd and room amenities.

I am asking her because I know this is a hot topic for some and you all here have been very thoughtful and helpful. I was just reading up on tipping protocol as I have lived outside the US for quite some time and before that I was young and in poor in college so tipping is not something I understand outside of the restaurant/bar setting. We are planning to opt out of housekeeping but read that it is customary to tip if you were to ask for extra towels or such in a normal hotel setting, so since you have to call when you need something, are you all tipping the person who brings you what you need? Also should tips always be cash? Can I bring small gifts instead? Ex. here we are known for awesome coffee, a bag of coffee would be the equivalent?
In this situation,TIPPING or NOT TIPPING are both considered OK.

Some Guests will tip in this situation and some will not-personal choice.

Personally,I would give the CM that brings the towels $5.00,but that's just me(I always tip liberally, but again, just personal choice-I always feel like it is appreciated.:))

And,again personally,I would never "tip" with something other than cash and don't think it happens often,if at all,at WDW.:)

In summary, don't feel you are "required" to tip for towels brought to your room-you are not.:)

But also what section would you consider to be about the same length from the food court / busses as the LM room at AoA

FWIW, I found that I could shorten my walk from building 9 to the bus stop/food by walking on the sidewalk along the parking lot instead of by navigating the resort. It *felt* a lot shorter, anyway! Probably works for all front edge buildings.

So excited to be at Pop this summer. I have searched a bit but can't seem to determine, what are the pool hours typically? I was wondering if we might be able to squeeze in a swim on our arrival night...

I'd like to know also, it always seems the pools are closed by the time we return....such a bummer!

For those that put in room requests and have been and stayed in a renovated room, what was your room request? We want renovated rooms, and connecting rooms if possible. Should I just request “renovated connecting rooms”? Or should I be more specific with building numbers or specific sections (70’s, 80’s, etc). Do you think the room assigners know which rooms are renovated?

Hi! I have a few questions that I was hoping someone could help me with. My daughter is disabled and has seizures and some days she functions better than others. I am going to book today for a trip in May but there is only Standard room or Standard Pool view available. I usually book preferred pool because I know that is by the food court. Being close to the food court is a big priority for us, which category should I book of the two choices that are left and what building or section should I request that would be closest to the food court and a renovated room would be a big plus. Thank-You.

I would think standard pool view would be all renovated by may... well - I guess there could be a pool view of the 1950s pool and that WOULD NOT be renovated... AND that pool would be down. Both things not great when you want consistency for your daughter.

Tour Plans Room Finder would be a huge help for this... lets you see options.

I've been out of the loop for a while so I'm sorry if this has been asked. I understand many new rooms don't have bath tubs so I am wondering if the shower head is detachable? Would make my life 100x easier with my son.

There is now a double shower head and yes, one is detachable. There is a rainfall one that is permanent. The second, 'normal' shower head is detachable. You have the option to select to use one or the other shower heads or both at the same time. We loved the new ones!!

Yes to the detachable shower head. I've got a photo if you need one.
That is great news! Pretty cool about the two shower heads and the rainfall. The rainfall one sounds like heaven lol.
Yes, I would love a picture. Thank you both!:disrocks:

The more specific you are, the smaller your available pool of rooms. So I would not request a specific building or floor. I would just request renovated connecting rooms. I have requested renovated room, and nothing else, for my last three stays and I have been in a renovated room each time.

i was taking photos to compare to the old rooms because my wife couldn't come on the trip. glad i did!

this was room 8356 in the 90s, if that helps.

Can you request a specifc building? We have booked a preferred room - and I would really like building 10! We drive ourselves and it looks to be the closest to the 90's lot. We stayed in 50's last year and loved it - but I'm not sure the refurb will be completed by our trip. Thanks!

Not online. But you can fax/call.

Does anyone know how many rooms have tubs vs. showers in refurbed rooms? Wanted to request top floor room w/tub, but not if only a handful of rooms have tubs...

I’m not sure anyone knows yet but it will be good to find out. I’m hoping it’s a new stat that Touring Plans starts recording in their room information.

I have stayed in three refurbished rooms and all three had tubs. I would prefer a shower stall only, but didn’t want to put in any requests other than refurbished room. One of them was a top floor room.
