Official Wine & Dine 2018

I booked yesterday with Acclaim Travel for bibs and room. So I asked them about the delay. His response was "Dont worry, they won't cancel or change weekends, I talked to my boss yesterday. I already have bibs in my order bank from Disney." He feels that Active has a glitch (happened one time at Boston Marathon and Chicago).

I received a letter from a TA I used in the past (Acclaim) on this...

AP Passholders added benefits:
  • Can buy races ( with no park tickets ) early
  • Can buy Discount ( no active fee ) Race bibs
  • Can buy Race bibs that can be canceled (small fee)
  • Can buy Discount hotel rooms
  • Everyone in room is waived from buying park tickets , but
  • Can Buy Discount park tickets for non AP guests in room

Yes, I've received those communications from Acclaim too, but a room is still required. HUGE difference for me if room requirement can be waived for DVC with an existing ressie.

Doubtful. If so, I think runDisney would have acknowledged the fraud.

From what I've seen here, it seems like previous holds on registration have been for changes to race weekend -- either adding a challenge like prior F&W or cancellation like Light Side. Going to night race would be a change but why would that be last minute and the reported reasons for abandoning the night race have been listed before. Seems unlikely. I'm trying to think of other changes they come up but most of them would make sense to start in January. Something like a 5k/10k/half challenge or multiple race weekend challenge wouldn't make since to announce now with 2 of the weekends already done and a 3rd coming up so soon.

Hmm... multiple weekend challenge...

Like something to replace the Coast to Coast option that’s gone?

Or maybe try to tie in the virtual race series they have in the summer with Wine and Dine like they did with the virtual run to get the Kessel Challenge medal?

My personal favorite would be like an Epcot Festival Challenge medal. If you do two race weekends that fall during Flower and Garden, Food and Wine, etc.

They could get really creative with that ...

So that won’t happen
:-)

I think it's a great idea - I'm calling it my #allthemedals challenge! As much as I'd love Disney to make it official and give me a big, shiny medal for my efforts it'd make more sense to have it start with Marathon weekend since Coast to Coast, Castle to Chateau, and Kessel were all based on a calendar year. I'd expect a hypothetical WDW Half Marathon Series Challenge to follow that pattern.

Well, I may regret this but I just signed up with a TA company for the 10k and room. My AP will be active by mid-summer so I won't need tickets. Now, here's to hoping dates/races don't change too much and that all transactions went smoothly.

So does this mean that if we aren't going through a TA we will have a small chance of getting to register?

I doubt that's what it means. For me personally I can't keep checking to see when registration opens and I've taken too much unnecessary time off work and worrying about this. So I went with a TA, although it makes me really nervous to go through a TA that I don't personally know.

Doubt it. They get assigned blocks from rD — shouldn’t eat into the early or regular registration numbers, I would think.

It’s just a theory of mine. Who knows what’s actually going on.

We have never done a rD event before so I'm a little nervous about getting registered. We are planning on doing the 2 course challenge as long as my knee holds up. Luckily, I'm able to be at home and ready if registration starts, but we likely won't know if we can go until April.

that is what I'm worried about cause there are 3 of us planning to do 10K only and that race statistically has the smallest amount of bibs to start with and normally sells out in hours/days

All 3 of us are APs we're also local and only intend to stay Thursday, Friday and Saturday night....

I’ve used the same credit card to register for three different race weekends and haven’t had fraud. I’ve also used it at the expo without fraud. Heck I used it at the expo to register for SWDS! I honestly don’t think runDisney or Active are to blame. From what I read on the RunDisneyrun FB page most of the fraud occurred with the Chase Disney Visas. That makes me think there was something else going on. I set up text messaging for any kind of transaction made on all my financial accounts. Doesn’t matter if it’s a deposit, transfer or withdrawal. I get notified within seconds of it happening.

For some reason I missed the "Festival" part and my mind jumped right to a drinking around the world challenge and I pictured a 5k around Epcot where you had to stop in each country for a drink :drinking1:faint:

I'd do it :thumbsup2

Your idea sounds totally reasonable though!

So fun fact, on today's YouTube's The Daily Fix (theDis)... this thread made the segment for trending topics on the boards. Congrats to all of us and our speculation yesterday... :)

So exactly when will we get those updated dates???? hmmmmmm

By a standard business calendar, they have three days. By the US week, they have four. By a European week format, they have five.....

We are planning on the 2 course challenge and I think that’s typically the third race to sell out. We will be there Tuesday to Tuesday (not for sure because don’t have plane tickets yet). We aren’t dvc or ap so no early registration for us.

I'm just imagining a Monty Python-ish end credit sequence.

RunDisney regrets to inform us that they have had to update the update and the people responsible for the update have been updated. Please be sure to update your contact preferences or the updators to the updatees won't be able to update us with the update to the update.
