I love credit cards so much!

A jam-packed weekend and a very busy workday yesterday means I was once again 20 something pages behind when I logged in this morning. Thankfully, a snow day at home allowed me to devote enough time to catch up! So yeah, I'm quoting 3 day old posts

Seriously. Was out of pocket yesterday evening through this morning and came back to 9 pages to catch up on :faint:.

And I quoted a few things along the way to respond to, but seemingly, must have timed out and those original posts I wanted to respond to are now gone :badpc:

ME!! I'm in Norcal and saw the contest yesterday. I spun the wheel, but no prize for me :( I need to remember to do that daily. Did you get a group together last time? How does that work?

i think they got rid of the group. I dont see it anywhere. It was kinda pointless honestly lol.

I know. Both DH and I are working on Marriott Biz MSR right now. We aren't big spenders, so its tough! I prepaid electric + had a pretty big vet bill (had to put our sweet kitty down this morning - sad) + paying car insurance bills. The rest will go to GOC cards, which I guess is ok as long as I'm not working on an Amex MSR.

I hit 'like' to acknowledge you losing your kitty! So sorry to hear it. I am so attached to my pets, 2 of which are younger kitties - one 5 and one 7...well maybe middle aged cats.

You could create a new Recipient and try again with an Amex, but I don't know any way around addressing a payment to "Toyota."

As for the CIP, you shouldn't have problems paying an auto loan with a Visa.

I just recently tried to pay my auto loan to GM Financial with my CIP through Plastiq and it failed. I was able to enter in the payment, but then received an email from Plastiq that stated: We're very sorry, but we're experiencing problems processing your $xxx payment to GM Financial on your Visa. We recommend double checking your provided card information and calling your issuing bank to ensure that they have approved the charge.

I know @amalone1013 has Toyota but just wanted to share. I've paid my mortgage with the same card before and after this message so I'm not sure what the problem is. I didn't want to risk calling in so I just paid the auto loan through online banking.

Plastiq currently earns 3x UR on the entire transaction, so 3x $15,375 = 46,125 UR.
I ALWAYS forget to add the points earned ON the fees, so thank you!

Since it looks like you're at 6/24 until sometime after June 2018, I'm hoping that Plastiq continues earning 3x UR on CIP until then if you decide to hold back $5k to meet MSR on your CIP.
Always a risk. I'd have to wait until October to officially be 4/24 too. I might get a CIP for him, then something else for him or another business card for one of us... then do the last bit on a CIP for me. Even if it changed, it's at least worth it for the $5k to meet minimum spend. And maybe in the mean time after his SPG biz, pick up other AMEX biz cards for organic spend. Decisions, decisions...

Can I use my Avios of AA redemption? I can see a flight I could use ofr 22,500, but on the BA site the taxes are very high, on the AA site, taxes are lower. Would I call and use the AVios, asking for that specific flight,or transfer the avios to use on AA? Iberia I haven't signed up for yet,and I can't wait 3 months.

im a little confused by what your asking. Avios is BA's points system. Yes, u should be able to use Avios for AA. As for the high tax, i would recommend searching around the city and see if theres another city you can fly into. I know places like London has some high airport tax and that gets passed onto you. Fly to another city like France, then take the train back to london would be cheaper.

So sorry to hear of your kitty, that's always a rough decision, but I like think they are at peace now at least. :grouphug:

Thanks for the dp. I think @amalone1013 mentioned she was able to pay Toyota with her Marriott Visa, so I don't think she should have problems paying Toyota with a CIP Visa.

DH had a last minute business trip (they decided Friday, booked his flight/car Saturday while we booked hotel - woo points! - and he flew out last night, back tonight). So he's at the Cincinnati airport... I made sure to send him along with his PP card after looking up the lounge, so he's there now and very happy. His flight isn't until 4:30pm but he was done with business stuff this morning and had a two hour drive back to the airport, so he was glad to have somewhere to hang out.

...and please... if I want to book a cruise using UR,I need to first pick what I want specifically, then call in and ask how many points I need to book?

I haven't booked through Chase yet, but, it sounds to me like the Cruise department is a travel agency so you should be able to just call them up, give them an idea of what you're looking for and then they present you with options. Sometimes a TA have a better price or package than you can see yourself (or at least it seems like it).
Me personally I like to have a good idea of what I want first before going to the TA that way I don't have to think on the spot and can compare what they're offering. But if you have a couple of dates or cruise lines you prefer, you can get quotes for all and then decide. They should be able to break down between cash and UR payment methods too I'd expect.
Not that I have enough UR points (or a worthwhile card to use them), but I was going to call and compare them to the Discover card TA just to get an idea of deals. But I haven't gotten around to it yet so I can't be a great help ATM.

Oh good, I didn't catch that part. I thought it was strange it wouldn't go through. Maybe I'll try again.

would suggest also clearing it on the bank end too. The bank might think its weird that you usually have 1 plastiq payment for the past x amount of months and was weird to get another one... worth making a note just in case!

(had to put our sweet kitty down this morning - sad

So very sorry to hear that.:grouphug:

Make that at least 3 of us who can't cook, lol!

...um make that at least 4! Neither DH nor I cook and I honestly don't have any desire to learn. Neither one of us is a foodie so mircowaved meals, salads, sandwiches are pretty much a staple, I guess. I wonder if all of us non cooks in the world contribute to the CSR's popularity :)

So I've never been so happy to pay $600 to the lawn weed killer people. Another $600 MSR knocked out on my SPG biz. After our spring break trip to Edinburgh it should be done. Whoo hoo!

Oh, no. I’m so sorry to hear that.

I am sorry about your kitty. It’s never easy saying goodbye to the 4 legged family members and they leave a giant hole in the heart.

You sound like a more advanced cook than me. My SO does all the cooking. One day he was getting out of work a bit late and I had to make rice. His instructions were not clear so I put the rice in before the water started to boil. When he got home he opened the lid to the pot and the whole thing was black. If you look closely at our pot you can still see an outline of the burnt rice.

That’s hysterical. I only attempt cooking about once a year and only with recipes that look easy and don’t require much Googling of cooking terminology. If I don’t warn DH first he suspects me of nefarious motives. “You’re cooking? What did you do? Is it another speeding ticket? What are you plotting and how much does it cost?”

Yes. A few months ago I had posted a how to with screen shots on searching AA for award availability in order to book with Avios miles. I honestly don’t recall what post that was. It’s buried in this thread somewhere. There is no way to avoid BA high taxes and fees if you are connecting in London. You can try award searching and select “no stopover” for flights. Often times for searches in Europe, that will get you on an Iberia flight connecting in Madrid. The other option is to fly elsewhere like @Albort recommended and then take a train.

Just realized my dh paid a couple big bills with his spg personal so it's all done now! Great, right? Except I was waiting to get another card and now I have a $1000 to pay to the oral surgeon on Friday when my younger dd gets her wisdom teeth out. Any of the Amex cards ship out fast lol? Seems like the SPG biz has been taking awhile. What about the Delta Gold biz?

My Delta Gold biz took about as long as my SPG biz. 10 days from approval to receipt. I've never tried to call Amex to see if they will expedite though.....

Those points can be used for TSA Pre-check,

How does this work? Can you go through the Chase portal or are you cashing out points? I want to get 4 TSA Pre-checks this year and can only get one on my future CSR. Though I might need the others for MinSpend.

double dipping in credit card terms means to apply for 2 cards at once. The result of this is it will usually result in 1 credit card pull. The main reason we double dip for example is because Chase only allows us to have a single Sapphire card. By applying for both Sapphire cards at once, you can get both. 30 day message usually means your application is submitted and the computer doesnt like something so its often held to be reviewed. The best way to maximize chase rewards is to have the quadfecta(ink, Sapphire, Freedom x2). this covers a huge category. Yes, u can pay for someone else's GE. I paid for my moms.

heh, its a way to compete against Alaska i guess... Both airlines are fighting over Californians business haha.
And lining themselves up for the Hawaii routes to open

Heck, I went to a lunch meeting today and came back to 3 1/2 pages!

!

Add me to this list. I don't burn rice and I know what softened cream cheese is LOL, but if it's not a mix or a box, or something simple, forget it.
