March Wish Challenge Let it Go or some of us are sick of snow

Good Monday Morning.

Today's Question of the day is

What are your favorite to go food items that you love to eat on the run.

Fruit is easy, baby tomatoes or cucumbers with individual size hummus. Individual packets of nut butter. Boiled egg, spinach and soy sauce (recent discovery, they sell them near work). And also - know your environment helps imo. Like if I don't bring my own breakfast there is egg/tomato bagel near work that is 320 calories. No lunch - there are salads from 400 to burrito bowls about 650 that won't break the bank. Same salad bar have counters where I do my weekly shopping, near my work, where I go shopping for clothes, near my gym and my sons swimming pool. They have salads with 900 calories and salads with 400. Even 5 guys burger have option of burger with about 730 calories and I can work with. Add cheese, mayo and chips - and there is no way I can fit it in my daily calories. So I have looked into options that are around where I am often when I have busy days (work, gym, shopping, my son's school).

Question of the day 13th of March.
What works for you? What works for you to lose weight, maintain it and feel the way you want to feel like?

For me, it's the combination of journaling, reflection, and exercise. I haven't gotten to the maintain side of weight loss, but I expect it will be similar. Exercise in particular has helped me feel MUCH better than I have in a long, long time.

My woohoo is that DD has been doing better. My not so woohoo is that I had my annual "Eat a whole box of Girl Scout Tagalong Cookies" last night. Now that is done I can move on past this and get back to work. I have a cruise this summer and my 20 year class reunion in September to get ready for.

Woohoo It was warm enough (46 degrees and no wind) to go from building to vehicle in a t-shirt and long pants-needs to warm up a bit more before I dig out the capris. We have another storm coming in but it is supposed to be short http://www.ktvq.com/story/37717438/...e-wet-snow-headed-to-montana-northern-wyoming Only in MT does the phrase threat to young livestock show up in a weather forecast. We are not near the river or any low lying area so I am not too worried about any of the flooding. I had 2 small slices of pizza last night at the 4-H meeting and some fresh vegetables. I only had one cookie instead of taking a number of them. We got a copy of the print out from the outfit we bought 13 year old for her citizen and leadership interview back in December. Hopefully we can find a dress of a similar style for her ready to wear along with a blazer. They have to do a compare sheet with 3 different brands though they do not have to be from 3 different stores. 13 year old got caught up on her ceramics.

QOTD for Thursday

Do you tend to wing food preparation or do you collect ideas to try in the future.

I am not naturally good cook. I have few books, and i usually browse through recipes. I don't do WW but I find many of their recipes excellent. I buy ww magazines and few others. I have folder and I cut & keep recipes there. The folder is divided by two - part one, recipes I want to try, and part two after I try them i put them in the "great, I want to eat this again!" part of the folder. And some don't make it. So it's balance between old tried and tested meals and new that I try.

on the top - I tried new recipe yesterday hake or cod, chorizo, peas and potatoe mash. It was soo good - my son and my husband fought over the leftovers. More i cook, easier it is for me to be interested in healthy eating

Anyone feels that the current format of the monthly challenges have run it's course and we need something different? I am not sure what but it's really slow going. Half of the month gone and we only have 3 pages, and it's not due to lack of good questions or interesting topics

I am trying to come back to the threads and to my healthy living routine. Winter was hard on so many levels and I was just hiding in my snail house when not dealing with all the stuff live threw at me. I am slowly starting to resurface!

Eating wise I have decided to give intermittent fasting a try. This is the new craze here in Germany. There are different methods and I decided to go with only eating during 8 hours every day. It means that I will skip breakfast and instead have lunch as my first meal at noon. No food after 8pm. I am hoping that it will free up some calories for a more substantial afternoon snack, which I need in order to not be overly hungry at dinner. And knowing that 8pm is the end of the eating day will hopefully help me to stop late night snacking. Of course I am combining it with eating healthy all around. I will see if it’s going to help. The first 4 days without breakfast were ok!

@HappyGrape I see what you mean about the thread. There have been really slow months before and then things took off again. I am not sure what an alternative would be? Just a general chat thread? Where everyone is welcome to throw out questions of the day when they feel like it? I see that @lovesmurfs has signed up for April, so maybe see how things are for May?

I've noticed the thread is slower, too. I don't help it much, though! And sorry to say, I have no ideas. Oneanne is on vacation now, so there's one voice gone.

So DS is coming home from college. He is taking a medical leave and will return spring semester. Due to the sequential nature of his studies, he has to wait that long. I am doing really well not eating my feelings right now!!! The scale was better this morning than last week. I'm still not having a great month. I log every bite in MFP then before bed transfer the calorie and my steps walked to a spreadsheet for each month. The calorie side of the equation is not looking pretty! But I am still logging and that usually helps me be accountable.

Stupid computer just ate the rest of my post!!! Let's see if I can reclaim my thoughts.

I have collected a zillion recipes!!! I have a couple binders full from early marriage days when I would go to the library and photocopy books. I have more than one folder full of recipes from magazines and online. Maybe one day I'll go through and toss all the ones I don't use. I also have lots of cookbooks but really only use two. Before all this electronic stuff was invented looking at recipes was a hobby.

The computer is being very weird. I'm going to post before it loses everything again (for the 3rd time!).

Happy Sunday everyone! After announcing my new eating plan yesterday, I immediately failed this morning... But I had a healthy breakfast, not some junk and enjoyed it and will go back on the program tonight with stopping eating at 8pm!

I wanted to go for a run this weekend, but now it is SNOWING!?! Who wants snow in March? I hope it will stop in a little while and I can go out then.

@glss1/2fll I am sorry that your son has to take a break! I hope you can deal with his issues and then he can have a fresh start!

I really need to be more organized about my recipes as well. My idea is to have a list of dishes that work for us and I just pick something from it when meal planning. Haven’t gotten further than the idea stage.

I have been somewhat quiet lately and it has nothing to do with the group. I have fallen off the wagon because of issues with DD. I need to get back on here more and get things moving.

I have now added a new thing to my list to help me lose weight. I have the cruise in the summer, 20 year class reunion in September and after yesterday I realized a new one. My cousin is getting married in at the end of May and my Aunt and Uncle are good friends with an old boyfriend (it was in high school and was I would say my first love) parents. The shower was yesterday and it was the first time I have not seen them since in over 20 years. It was just awkward. So I feel I need to look my best so if they do say anything to the old BF it could that I still look good and kind of "see what you missed out on". I know this is not the best way to look at this but this is all going to be just awkward. His mom did come over to say hi so hopefully by the wedding it won't be so Awkward.

Ugh. Off the rails this weekend. Well, everything was recorded, but went over by 1,100 calories yesterday AND didn't even exercise. And I didn't do the office work I'd planned to do. Sigh.

Still lost for the week, but I think it would've been much better if I'd stayed on plan.

But I did get to Season 7 of The Golden Girls. Double sigh.

Hey y'all! I've been quiet too, but still checking in and reading through every few days. Not for lack of interest... just crazy busy. I am going to try to be better about though now that things should be slowing down for me, though.

Health-wise, things haven't been too bad this month, however. I am almost to goal (1.8 little pounds away), but that may have been derailed this weekend with St Patty's Day festivities and a surprise guest who we took out to eat a fair amount over the last 3 days. I wasn't always on plan but not always off either. It was a decent balance I think.

I am ready for a good week this week-- even though I was playing hostess all day yesterday, I carved out 30 minutes to do my calendar and meal plan my week! Breakfast was on plan and lunch is in the fridge so I won't be tempted by the siren call of fast food for lunch! Woohoo!

Happy Monday everyone! I am still struggling with my eating... Had a reasonable lunch, but somehow kept feeling hungry afterwards. So had my afternoon snack to early and now ate the whole package of emergency corn wafers that I had in my office cupboard. Good thing is that the whole package is only 350 kcal and has loads of fiber. And I am not feeling hungry anymore. Bad thing is that I struggle with controling my eating... Trying to be better for the rest of the day!

Great to see more people returning like me!

I was wondering if we should have a lose schedule of topics for every day of the week, just like Woohoo Wednesday? I think it is a bit of a social media thing (especially on Twitter?) and not all things would work like us (like Follow Friday where you recommend other accounts to follow), but we could do an adepted version. With this there is a structure already in place. I think I am noticing more people posting on Wednesday because everyone knows it is Woohoo Wednesday. What do you all think?

It was snowing here too. We haven't had snow since 2010 and this year we got it twice!
