Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Good morning peeps! We are three weeks away for our 5 night stay at YC.

Can someone give me some recommendations on our room request for a garden view at YC? It will be myself, spouse and our 5 y/o princess :)

We don't really know what we want, but for certain, we don't want a room that is designated as pet friendly. Wife is allergic to the four legged friends. :( And if it matters, we will be utilizing the walking path to Epcot and DHS several times I imagine.

Thanks for your help and hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Any recommendations for standard Beach Club Villa room request for family with 7 year old daughter? Never stayed at Beach Club before. While I am sure she will want to swim every day, if we request a room near the pool, will it be loud?

:welcome: to the thread!

When is your trip?

As Wood Nymph posted, by definition, the quiet pool should not be loud. Your mileage may vary!

:goodvibes

Just realized I didn't give you our dates for next January. Jan 9-16

Got 'em! Thanks!

:thumbsup2

Coming for work July 19-22, so you can add me to the list as well. First time CL at Beach Club. Any hints?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

I'll send a couple of hints your way:

Although the club level rooms at the BC have a higher percentage of full balconies (vs. smaller Juliet ones), I would make sure you add a request for a full balcony to your reservation if that is important to you.

Read the post about the secret entrance/exit (Page 1, Post 8) or in the FAQ/Other important info post. That is my favorite resort hint for when it is brutally hot or raining. Trust me!

::yes::

Can you please add us to the BoG list March 9-15 at BCV. Third stay at BC, but first stay as BCV owners

:welcome: HOME!

Will do!

:dogdance:

Hi. Back to The Beach Club in July but not stayed here for several years. I’ve seen on the info part of the thread they have added poolside showers. Are these only available while the pool is open? There will be four of us, kids 16 and 19, in the one room so it struck me these might be an option for extra shower space! I can’t quite picture if they are inside the pool area though or even if they’re not if they are locked when the pool is closed? Any info appreciated.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

We just booked a trip to the YC again for this November. I am seeing just normal rack rate prices. Any idea when AP discounts might be seen? Or are they gone already?

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the list.

:yay:

Can someone give me some recommendations on our room request for a garden view at YC? It will be myself, spouse and our 5 y/o princess :)

Just stayed four night at YC garden view last week and it was great! My suggestions would be:

First, prioritize your requests, so that if they can grant only one, it is the right one. For you that sound like “non-pet section due to allergies.”

Second, if your little girl needs a bathtub (as opposed to a standing-only shower stall), you will want to request that. A lot of the rooms now don’t have tubs, though the showers are beautiful, with an overhead rain shower head and a handheld shower head also. My son needs a bathtub (medical reasons), and we had to switch rooms on arrival to get one.

Third, the room we stayed in had a patio which had no railing or containment apparatus other than a small mulched berm between it and the walkway. The door did have an extra latch higher up above the flip lock, to help prevent child egress, but it was still positioned low enough on the door frame that I am afraid an enterprising five-year-old might be able to reach it. (Unlike at the Polynesian where the extra latch is up at the top of the door). If this would be an issue for you, perhaps a balcony w/railing might be an advantage. Otherwise, the patio was great!

The walk to Epcot is fairly short no matter where you are, and since the path to DHS is in the opposite direction, you are six-of-one, half-a-dozen of the other on that issue. Not a bad dilemma to have. :)

Have fun planning! Hope you have a fantastic trip!

This is worrying me now. We have 5 people staying at YC and are going in 3 weeks. I called Disney to ask if I needed to make special request for a Day Bed and they told me no. All rooms have day beds. I hope she knew what she was talking about. I asked about balconies too and they said that all rooms have balconies.

:welcome: to the thread!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

As others have posted, parties of 5 (all over age 3) have priority for a room with a daybed. You must be given a room that will sleep everyone in your party. That will likely mean a room with a daybed, but in the very rare instance that a room with a daybed is not available when you check in, you will be given a room with a rollaway cot. You could choose to change to a room with a daybed later in your trip if you want to do that.

Almost all of the rooms at the YC have full balconies.

Can anybody tell me if the boat service to Hollywood Studios is back up and running? I haven't seen mention of it anywhere but granted I didn't read too far back.

:welcome: back to the thread! Do you have an upcoming trip booked here?

:goodvibes

Please add us to the list for BCV Sept 2-9. This will be our fifth 2-bedroom villa in a row but first at BCV, so we’re excited!

:welcome:

Will do!

:cool1:

Hello! I am impressed by all the information on this thread. You helped me with my planning, thank you

We are arriving July 15 departing July 20, 2018

We just booked the Illuminations Cruise for July 19. I booked this after reviewing comments from previous cruisers.

I also entered a Safeway order, thanks to your advice.

Sending you all pixie dust!!

Thank you for the kind words!!!

:grouphug:

Haven't stayed here since 2007! Looking forward to December......

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list! BC, YC or BCV?

:thumbsup2

The BC quiet pool is open and a few people were swimming in it, but there are a few cherry pickers parked around it. I haven’t seen active construction, just signs that it’s taking place soon. If you’re walking to Epcot, the last location to exit the resort is by the quiet pool. There is other construction at the end of the resort now. I had to backtrack to the pool because the path was closed.

We spent an hour or so at the pool yesterday- around 5 in the evening. We had no trouble finding lounges and a table. It’s been a nice trip so far!

Thank you for the very helpful live-on-the-spot info.

Think of me as you ride the small boat around the world!

Has there been any updated news or info regarding the possible partial pool closure in August?

Haven't seen anything.

:confused3

Latest public information:

Beginning June 4, 2018 until approximately June 23, 2018 Disney's Friendship Boat service is only available to Epcot, Disney's Boardwalk, and Disney's Yacht & Beach Club resorts and Swan / Dolphin. Bus service will be provided to Disney's Hollywood Studios during this time.

Dave

:thanks:

Hey Dee, booked yesterday for May 9-17, 2019 at BCV--looking forward to our spring trip but first on to F&W at BWV. :dogdance: When you next update, please add us to the Be Our Guest List.

:welcome: back!

:woohoo:

Dee, can you take me off the Be Our Guest list for October please?

The new passholder fall room offer was finally released today, and there were no discounted rooms at BC (or YC or BCV) for our October dates. So, what we had was our rack rate standard view BC room that we'd booked back in January. But, playing around with the bookings pages, I was able to modify our booking to one of those huge BW garden view club level cottages for only $200 a night more than that BC standard room. While I'll miss BC, we've still got a Christmas trip and likely two or three trips in 2019. Since those BW cottages were on my bucket list, I just had to jump on it. Very excited, in that "I'll miss BC" bittersweet kind of way...

Will do! Enjoy your trip!

:dogdance:

We just returned from Yacht Club vacation June 2-10. I can't say enough how much we enjoyed our time stay. The hotel room was very updated. We stayed lake/lagoon view. I called ahead of time to request the type of room not a specific number. We use snacks for breakfast on the DxDP. We found the Market at Ale and Compass to have good pastry and healthy choices in the cooler. We especially loved close proximity to excellent restaurants. Spent a whole day at the pool! Awesome trip!!!

Thanks for posting the comments about your stay!

Thank you sooooooooo much! This is perfect! And good call on the patio/balcony. Something I never would have thought about.

OK since I can't find any real pictures to markup, here are the locations of the 1 BRs with CL Access on the BC Map. There are a mix of Juliette/Full balconies and of course the 1st floor rooms have a patio. If anyone want to share pictures of this section of the BC building that might show these areas, I would be happy markup real pictures vs this map below. It always helps to use pictures to indicate the Mini-Juliette balconies.

Note: Special room 1501 is a 1 BR. It is near the corner of the BC building nearest to the path to Epcot aka the "Secret Entrance".

ETA: Added 4647 which was missing on original map.

From 2012

I'll try, but my sense of direction and map-reading skills are HORRIBLE, so I could have this wrong!

I think the corner rooms in the picture are the X647 block of 1BR suites at the Beach Club

View attachment 329117

Note, this picture is from 2014, I don't think this large bush is in the courtyard anymore.

I'm trying to find a picture of the front façade of the resort showing these rooms, but So.Many.Pictures! (ETA- found one from the Friendship Boat, posted above)

This is a picture of the gate to the "Secret entrance/exit" of the Beach Club.

Again, I believe the corner room in this picture are rooms 1501 and 2501, which are 1BR suites.

If I am wrong about this I will take no offense at being corrected!

::yes::

You guys are amazing. Thank you! I didn't realize that there were so few of them. I would love a full balcony, but I have a hunch it will be what we get is what we get! The Stone Harbour Lounge is obviously a distance from the -01 series, but closer to the -47 series. Good to know!

Thank you also about the note for the secret entrance. I guess it won't be so secret if we are in the -01 series to begin with :)

Any reports of being able to swap out your drink for a Mickey ice cream bar at Hurricane Hannah's grill, if your on the dining plan?

Has anyone with a TA-booked, room only reservation at the BC, seen strange info under the confirmation details on MDX that refers to 2017/2018 Deluxe Dining Plans? I just noticed this glitch a day or two ago. It's not showing that way on the app.

I haven't heard of this happening. Do other Disney restaurants/resorts do that?

:)
I have read reports of some of the counter service locations at the resorts doing that. Say you want to use your re-fillable mug for your beverage and they might let you swap out your drink for a snack or something. Wouldn't be a bad idea at all for Disney with a Mickey bar at like $5 and a alcoholic drink at $10. We just hardly ever drink. Even if you got a slushie or smoothie, some of the snack options are cheaper.

This used to be an option listed in the dining plan flyer. It was something you could do at most QS locations at parks and resorts. This was the case in 2015 when we used the plan. It's no longer in writing on the dining plan flyer but people of the Dis have reported that they've still been allowed to swap a drink for an item that is a snack credit at some QS resort spots.

Hi! We are literally 3 days out from our YC stay and I'm considering making the switch to BC. It will be me, DH, DS (7) and DS (4). I'm considering switching bc of all the room requests I have - We are booked in a garden view room and we need a bathtub and a daybed. I know if I switch to BC all rooms have bathtubs, so I wonder if we'd be more likely to get the daybed request fulfilled rather than hoping for two requests to be filled at YC.

Also, have there been any issues with dogs barking at YC? We love dogs, but I would just like to avoid hearing them :)

But, playing around with the bookings pages, I was able to modify our booking to one of those huge BW garden view club level cottages for only $200 a night more than that BC standard room.

As a follow up, halfway regretting the move to BW, I kept checking the AP rates to see if anything would show up at BC. Lo and behold, a water view CL room appeared...at a discounted rate of $100 a night more than the fancy BW club level cottage! What the fuh? No idea what’s going on with the BC rates, but there’s no way that a discounted club level room, even with an upgraded view, should be $300 a night more than a rack rate standard room! It was supposedly a savings of $75 a night over rack rate, which is almost nothing. I realize BC is really popular, and especially crowded during F&W, but really? DH will miss SAB, but to get a huge, two story CL suite at BW for less than a regular-sized CL room at BC, he can survive with the scary clown pool. How bad can the clown be? Are enough people scared of clowns to make the discounts so much better at BW?

It's not just BC. I've seen other members posting that at other resorts, the general public discount was better than the AP discount.

None of these rates are at the general public discount, although the BW cottage was available at about $90 more a night for the GP discount versus the AP discount that I used. For my original BC booking, there wasn’t a discounted room available at all under the public discount or the AP one. I was going to be stuck with rack rate if I wanted to stay in a standard room.

My issue is that a two-story, 1.5 bath townhouse style CL suite at BW was $100 CHEAPER a night than a regular-sized CL room at BC. I just don’t get it. You would think the bigger suite would cost more than a regular room, wouldn’t you?

We just got back Sunday and we saw a couple of dogs but never heard one bark. We had a tub and daybed in our room. I love the Yacht Club and feel it is a bit quieter :thumbsup2 Have a great trip I don't think you can go wrong with either resort.

I can't believe I didn't put my dates down! June 17 - 23 (If I get us packed and out the door Saturday!)

We are planning on a couple of evenings just hanging around the resort and Boardwalk area since in all our trips we've never made it there. What is something in the area not to miss for couple traveling without kids? Jellyrolls?

Supply & demand. The rack rate of those suites is higher & they do not usually fill up. The BC is really popular. Many BC rooms hold 5 people. The suites only hold 2. Since there are probably more families than couples booking, rooms holding larger parties will book faster. Depending on when you are going, there are blocks of rooms at BC booked for conventions & travel agency exclusive deals. Less rooms available mean less need to discount them.

Here now and did this at Hurricane Hannah’s yesterday. When we ordered our entree the CM stated it came with our choice of drink OR snack (we were holding our refillable mugs). We got veggies and hummus, chocolate chip cookie, and Mickey bars instead of drinks no problem!
