Loss of a DIS'er

I see everyone's point that it may have been better to keep her presence on the Dis private, not knowing what she's shared about her time her (if anything). But after looking at the guestbook, hopefully her family will be touched by seeing random strangers' messages from across the country that Amber had an impact on. It might be a pleasant surprise for them during an otherwise dark time, if they weren't already familiar with her presence here.

Also, I noticed Amber's post history isn't viewable anymore by clicking on her username. While her posts still exist within each thread, they @@can't be accessed from one spot. Hopefully that helps preserve anything private.
It’s not private. The profile page is locked by default, but that’s it.

Gotcha. Either way, no one can pull up a listing of her full post history to view everything, which helps keep some anonymity for her, if that's what she wanted.

Whoever the disgusting piece of human detritus is that is using Amber's family's tragedy to troll people they don't like, knock it the hell off.

This is a family that is gutted by an extremely tragic event. Exploiting their pain for your own amusement is a cruel and inhuman act

How do you figure? I just put her username into the member name search bar, hit search, and her whole post history pulls up as normal.
I didn't go that far, I was just basing it on clicking on her username. Is the search function only for members of the Dis? If someone in her family wanted to go to great lengths to see her postings, there are ways to do that, but the most obvious one of clicking her username is at least not an option.

:confused3 I have no idea who can use the search function.

I guess it was more of a rhetorical question. Point being, anyone who wants to dig up her post history can do that with some effort, but its not immediately available to someone who might stumble upon it.

The point I was making is that there’s no digging required. The only thing one needs to do is type in her name and press enter. That is, in fact, the intuitive and normal way a search function works. The fact that her profile doesn’t pop up as an autocomplete option really means nothing to someone who wouldn’t know that feature was ever there in the first place. Currently, it looks and works just like a normal search bar.

You never could do a search without being registered.
No need to register to do a search. But I think this is something that really can’t be prevented. She was one poster who I can’t remember having anything I would call a feud with anyone here.

And she had nothing but nice things to say about her family, she was very sweet.

I was on this forum one day a couple years ago when someone who had apparently created a throw-away username started posting several threads one after the other with insulting and foul language. The person did specifically pick on amberpi. It was very strange, and I have no idea why anyone would do that. The mods were thankfully quick to shut it all down.
