There is no budget for anything in a hospital. They used to pay for a few CEs each year but new owners, nada. I need CEs to continue both licensure and registration (separate) plus I have additional memberships and certification I do for my own satisfaction.
I think it depends on the hospital. My friend’s hospital has plenty of funds to pay for Nursing PhDs and renting out the aquarium for their department’s Christmas party of which they get 2 tickets to attend for free.

No budget in a private practice either. >:( I have to pay for CEUs and license also.
I guess I’ve been lucky. Our former owner covered $1500/year even for part time. Our new owner covers continuing ed too...but we have to pay it back if we resign within 6 mos. So, I’m doing the balance of mine online with a subscription that was paid for last year good through June. I don’t plan on working the full year. :smooth:

Our nurses were forced to get more advanced degrees and then reimbursed for education but were then taxed on the reimbursement so sometimes they had no take home pay. But there is always more $ for nurses than other employees. Nurses outnumber other departments and carry weight. (Not complaining, we can’t function without nurses)
Our hospital was forced to cancel the Holiday party because the parent company deemed everyone must have the same. So we were emailed a list of “Giving and Receiving” and told who we should give to and what we received. We received a free scoop of ice cream. 😂. Also I work for a Christian not for profit (although it was not when I was hired).

DD and I made good use of it this go around as we got about 6 or 7 RT's out of it. Figured we'd make good use of it again so went for it for another two years.
That is great! We used ours once in November. And have the 2 trips planned for this year. I am not unhappy that I got it. I just realized the timing wasn’t best and I could have gotten one more trip if I had planned earlier. But until we retire I don’t foresee us being able to make use of it more than twice a year anyways. Still worth getting I think especially if we can rotate between the two of us every 2 years.

Just hugged my DS18 goodbye. :sad:He’s driving back to Nashville tonight. New semester starts tomorrow. It’s been a fun break. DS20 goes back tomorrow, but he’ll be closer to me so it’s a little easier when he goes back.
Sent our DS18 back today, too. It was so nice having him home for three weeks, with really no responsibilities except just hanging out with us. We haven‘t had time like that with him in a long time with all the activities he did in high school and summer jobs, etc.

Here’s to a great second semester for all of the college kids!

Our DS 19 has 3 more weeks off!😳 I have enjoyed having him home too, but I think the break is way too long. It would be nicer to have an extra week off during the school year instead of such a long break between the 2 semesters.
