3/13 Member Services Calls

The world is conspiring against us ever visiting the Villas at Grand Floridian. I had booked a reservation for my family for May of 2015. I got a call the day before we were supposed to check in that I got the kidney that I was waiting for, and our trip was cancelled. I was able to rebook us once I was well, but didn't have the same luck to get VGF. Then in 2016, I was again able to book us VGF, and I got very, very sick with complications from the transplant. Again able to rebook elsewhere, but not VGF. We were very excited for this trip. We were due to check in to VGF on March 20. Obviously this happened. While there IS availability during the only other week we can book before my son goes to college (August 1-August 9), there is only availability in one bedrooms or higher. Even if I use all of next year's points, we still don't have enough to cover a one bedroom. We will rebook elsewhere, but again, no VGF. I think I probably just need to stop trying to stay there!

Thank you, this will make rescheduling easier, especially w/ rebooking the United Airlines flights.
I think I’ll wait a few days before I try to call since the phones are likely crazy at the moment.

Just so you know, my points did go into holding when I canceled online, it sounds like some are having luck and others, like me, are not,

If it happens, just contact Ms.

Have a reservation for BLT starting the 22nd-27th of march; my points expire in June. Am I SOL?
We had the same situation. They allowed us to cancel the reservation, bank them to the next year and make a new reservation. They even allowed us to return borrowed points back to the next year.

It took a while but my points will come out of holding and the ones I borrowed will go back. I was told it may take up to 30 days, which I’m okay with.
I was told 2 weeks. I hope my CM was more right than yours o_O
Not to rub it in, but I was able to get borrowed points returned to original UY and nothing in holding while I waited (an additional 40ish minutes on hold).

Nanny nanny boo boo! :rotfl2:

But seriously, I'm glad that DVC is doing right by folks on this. Even though we've stayed at AKV before, this was our first trip as owners. It was bad enough having to cancel. But I would have been pretty crushed if we also lost our first 260+ points! :scared1:

I can’t even get through. Tried all day after I read here and especially after email that points weren’t going into holding and mine did.

What is the policy about banked points? I didn't see this specifically addressed in DVC's email to members. Most of the points we used for our April trip were banked from Oct 2018 to Oct 2019 UY. I don't want to overload DVC right now since we are still 33 days out.

If your points were banked from a previous UY, they would need to be used before the UY they were banked into expires. So in your case they would been be used for a reservation that checks out before 9/30/20.

I wasn’t able to get through with 800-800-9800 but 407-566-3800 went through with the first try.

I tried both with two different phones. I got all the way a few times to choose 1 for Member Services and then it hung me up.

Thank you for posting you saved me a couple of hours I would have never gotten back.

That's what I was afraid of. I do understand why, it just sucks. We would lose 100 points, since I'm not sure we can go to WDW before the end of September.

WOW- we cancelled Thursday night for our 4/18 trip and was only on hold for 15 minutes,,,Guess I beat the rush,, Good luck everyone .They were borrowed points from 2020 and they just put them back into 2020 and now we're booked for August.YAY!!

Never say never! pixiedust:

Called the 407 number right at 9. Got in the queue and only 8 minute hold. 45 minutes later, all set. No holding and all 160 were unborrowed.

So, now I can book August. I did mention about them doing this and concerns down the road, in terms of imbalance. He said that it was decided to not worry about that now, just do what they could To help.

Maybe if things calm down, the parks open back up, and travel becomes more feasible for everyone you could rent the points if you cannot use them?

Yes, I hope that will be feasible. Just wasn't holding out hope of being able to rent them out in time. I think I may have found one week in August that works for us, so we shall see!

Cannot get through to MS on phone. I have one night studio at SSR for this coming Wednesday. Not going if parks aren't open. And I don't feel I should be penalized and have them go in to holding. FIRST OF ALL......if parks are closed.....hotels should be giving credit. The quarantine should expand to hotels too. Still large groups of people together? I will cancel online but sending an email.

Right now, the system has been set up so that people canceling reservations during the park closure won't have points go into holding. It might say it will, but people have reported that once they checked, they were all set.

Hi,

I was booked from 22nd March and my use year is April.

I now have 434 points that will expire at the end of the month of which 168 were banked from the previous year.

My guess is that I am going to lose those banked points but might be able to bank the remaining points from this year into next year.

Does that sound likely ?

We live in the UK so have no idea when we'll next be able to come but would hope to be able to come before April 2021.

Unfortunately,, those 168 banked points are going to be lost. They have been allowing people to still bank, even if they were beyond deadline,

We got an email this morning that said All banking rules are still in effect. I don’t know if that means they won’t allow it any more, or if it just means that banked points won’t be banked a second time,

All you can do is call,
