I'm suppose to leave 4/1...anyone else cancelling?

I saw mention of trip insurance - just a reminder that many travel insurance policies do not cover pandemics. Check the fine print before you decide how to proceed.

We just cancelled our trip next week. I was not concerned about becoming ill but by the risk of not being able to return home as countries start closing their borders.

Just cancelled our April 3rd trip. Cancelling Aulani was an easy phone call to the Disneyland resorts phone number. Getting in touch with Pleasant Activities at the Aulani Holoholo desk was not as easy. I think they now forward the phone calls to their main location. Hopefully others will be able to get in touch with them easier to cancel and refund credit cards.

Now United, that is where you will run into problems. Even if you have to quarantine for 14 days traveling to Hawaii, looks like United is still currently flying to Hawaii. If United cancels your flight, you get a refund. But they will only return the money to you after holding on to it for 1 year. If you cancel/change the flight, you have to fly within 1 year of the original booking date.

We were scheduled to fly the non stop EWR-HNL middle of April. The flight no longer shows up when searching on our flight dates, but the reservation is still listed under our trips and they have not cancelled it. I think they're trying to get everyone to change the flight before they cancel it to make it harder to get a refund.

We cancelled out 4/4 trip yesterday too. DVC did not put the points into holding status so that is good, but half of our reservation was on 2018 points which will need to be used by end of August.

Our flights on United that were booked on miles were refunded and miles put back, we are waiting on the return flights as they were booked cash and we are hoping they are out right cancelled so we can get $ rather than credit.

Announced at 10 this morning Aulani is closing. I believe the list date is 3/24 at 11 a.m. No re opening date listed.

Where did you read that they are closing? Everything I can find just talks about restaurants etc.

I called to cancel my trip for end of May this morning. There was an automated recording that stated that Aulani will be closing effective Mar. 24th until Mar.31st. I am surprised they are still open

This evening the governor of Hawaii imposed a 14 day quarantine for all arriving visitors and returning residents. Also, the entire Ko Olina resort area is closing March 24, not just Aulani.

Today I called to cancel our trip scheduled over Memorial Day weekend. DVC member services were very accommodating. They Unborrowed the 2021 points and returned it into my 2021 use year in addition to refunding the one time purchase points that I had to use to complete my reservation. It is a bummer that we won’t be able to go on our trip, but feel like we have absolutely made the right decision. Planning to visit in December around the holidays instead if things settle down. Also, American Airlines policy was very customer friendly. They returned our miles and gave us full credit for a couple other tickets booked with credit card points to be used for travel by end of the year. Wish you all get the same kind of treatment all around should you decide to cancel/reschedule.

It seems very odd that Aulani is only announcing a closure for 1 week, until 3/31/2020. Perhaps that's to coincide with the current Disney dates for Disneyland and WDW. But it seems extremely unlikely at this point that any of those places will be opening at the end of March, beginning of April. Closing one week accomplishes absolutely nothing at Aulani. Soon it will be an easy call, as government restrictions and airline cancellations will dictate who can travel there and back.

Yeah I think it is to coincide the dates. If they said 5/1 then everybody would assume parks would be closed that long too. This is simply disney not wanting to tip their hand yet

Did they actually unborrow the points immediately or promise to "submit the form" and wait up to 30 days?

My friend and I gave up our April trip for one in October. Disney did make it easier, they sent me an email with news of my coming refund only about half hour after my cancellation.

Just got off phone with member services - canceled an upcoming stay that was made want borrowed 2020 points - they canceled the reservation and put the points first in holding then transferred them back to 2020 while I was put on hold. When I called on sat they said it was not possible but was able to do it today

Everyone heading to Hawaii this spring should be canceling. Flights may not be around to take you home (see Canada shutting down certain airports now), states may be closing borders, and supplies may be non-existant...and Aulani itself may follow the rest of the Disney properties and close b/c Hawaii, as a site of vacationers and cruise ship arrivers, is probably ripe for an outbreak of a significant level within the next 2 weeks.

It sucks to adult...but it sucks more to know by not adulting, you screw yourself, your family, your neighbors, and all of your country mates over.

Stay home and rebook for 6-12 months for now.
You know what really screws yourself and your family? Unemployment and bread lines
