Is anyone else worried about opening up again

Sorry, but that's wrong. It's widely accepted as fact that there will be a resurgence in the fall, and we're not even out of the current infection. It's never too early to encourage people to get vaccinated for the flu, no matter what the cause, but especially in this scenario. As for "lots of time," no, we don't have that. Flu season starts in October. 6 months is an extremely short amount of time in terms of drug and treatment development, since you have to factor in all of the testing that must occur before treatments are widely available. Whatever can be done to mitigate pressure on hospitals and other medical centers should be done.
While I don't disagree with what you're saying, you can't get a Flu shot for next Flu season right now.

How am I going to get a flu shot next Oct? That’s something I’m thinking about now. I usually go to my local pharmacy for it. Will they have enough PPE to administer it come this fall?

I have no idea and have no control over that, neither do you. I can't worry about what may or may not happen six months from now. Let's get production ramped up for PPE for our front line workers NOW and once that's covered, then production can look towards replacing stock for the future.

No concern at all. I'm still working getting paid. I work almost completely alone, or with 1 or 2 others I've been working with all this time anyways. I don't have a need to be running all around town every minute of my non-working time and I'm at home usually anyways. Not a single thing has changed other than now I go home with a sore throat and sinus issues because I have to try to breath my regularly labored breathing through a petri cloth that's been in my mouth for 10 hours.

Will the places opening be able to have appropriate hand sanitizer, gloves, lysol, etc?

These are all still scarce around the country.

Our local business supplier told me last week even for wholesalers to find these, it's like the wild west. Lots are there, then they are snatched up. Prices look like they're one thing, then they go up immediately.

Our local Dollar General has under 1/2 a 32 ounce bottle of hand sanitizer for employees at the register. They've not had handsanitizer in the store shipments in 4 weeks. Clerk told me that when that bottle runs out they'll have to close. They have over 1,000 customers a day.

There are two breweries in Kiln making hand sanitizer. Have you tried them?

I am concerned about the "rush" to open based on economic concerns being put above human concerns. I agree that we need to do so, but it will take a balanced effort. When I see crowds of people protesting, my first thought is that they may not have contact, or connection to people who have been infected and/or died. Being in healthcare, it is scary, but we do what we have to do. We don't have the choice to protest because we have to work in this pandemic- we could quit, but that is not the answer.... A slow, careful approach, depending on where you live seems to be the right thing...social distancing, certain limits on how many people in a particular place etc....But what makes it scary is people gathering in large groups-like the protests, seem to not be taking this seriously enough, or they would not be in such large groups....Unfortunately, until it affects them, the seiousness of this thing will continue to be taken too lightly, and possibly cause more people harm. Just my opinion...

There are local breweries making sanitizer. Their sanitizer is expensive and I am at work when they have open hours-would be at least a 45 minute drive from where I am.

I did place an order with our local office supply store that I mentioned above for the freestanding sanitizer stations that you see in businesses and extra bags for the dispensers.

Hoping they come in with sanitizer soon as our churches may open in the next few weeks :crazy2::crazy2: with limitations-- How to open and all of that is under discussion now, pending info from the state and powers that be.

Our governor has announced relaxing restrictions on businesses on April 27th since the hospitals are not overwhelmed as predicted and are under capacity because of the limitations that individuals have put on themselves.

Governor has also fully stated that if cases rise rapidly due to people getting out and about, he will put restrictions back in place.

Today's Covid update from my area--
New cases reported today in the state was the fourth day of declines, dropping from 300 new cases Sunday to 239 Monday, 204 on Tuesday and 178 Wednesday. The report said 384 Mississippians are hospitalized for COVID-19.

In South Mississippi, there were 14 new cases, up from 10 on Tuesday, and 592 total. Sixty of those cases were in long term care facilities.

We're an hour drive from the North Dakota border. They have 2/3rds of our population (700,000 vs 1.2 million) plus they are very rural state.
They have DOUBLE the cases and DOUBLE the deaths. I had no idea it was so bad there.
It's so bad there because they don't have a Safer at Home/Stay at Home order.

Really! Hmm interesting. Usually we hear some news from out of there (recent flooding, etc) but nothing about Covid that I have heard.

There's a difference when discussing state level vs community level and this all varies depending on the makeup of each state and their communities and the other variables that go into health, access to healthcare, age distribution, etc.

The county above me has 21% of my entire state's numbers with that county having 6% of the state's population. That county, among mine and others around us, have had a stay at home order effective since March 25th though. That county is notoriously the poorest and often the unhealthiest county in my state BUT there's a large outbreak, the largest in the state, at just one long-term care/physical rehab facility responsible for 116 cases alone with 25 edit: 27 deaths (just announced 2 more) from that facility. The amount of deaths in the state sits at 110 deaths so nearly 23% edit: 24.5% of the deaths presently, that is, are from 1 outbreak from 1 facility (which is being actively inspected by the state).

It's not necessarily as easy as saying stay at home vs not stay at home IMO. Stay at home orders are likely significantly helping but doesn't give the full picture.

It actually is.

Appearantly to you it is but thanks for reading my entire quote (or not reading as it may appear has happened)..which had information with a stay at home order and the significant amount of cases even with that (due to specific variables)..to just glean that 🙄

Honestly, it’s expensive anywhere you can get it but I understand.

We will reopen sort of May 1st. That’s to say we will be in our offices but only available by phone or email. They seem to be planning to have us work with only limited groups coming in at one time. But nothing is written in stone yet.

Students won’t be totally back on campus until the fall. But they are going to have to let small groups come in for labs for our CTE programs so they are in the process of getting all that worked out meanwhile our spring classes are in finals and for some students it is a struggle. I see our numbers going down over the summer. Too many of our non traditional students aren’t going to want to continue online.
