Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I just looked at hotels and PPH and GCH are available to book starting 7/23, with DLH showing unavailable until 10/1. I would assume this is the planned reopening date for DLH as of right now
Yes, that is what the CM told me yesterday on the phone when she helped me move my Aug DLH stay to the Grand. She said emails will be going out to those people booked before then with options.

I noticed one of the Trader Sam's Skippers posted on Instagram that they SPECULATE that Trader Sam's will not open right away since they have no security checkpoint to screen guests/check temps. Again just speculation. I assume restaurants in the same area would be in the same boat.

Woohoo! All right! Looks like we are back in business! We booked our 10 yearAnniversary hotel room for Oct. 30-Nov.1 at the Grand California hotel. The CM said to keep checking for discounts to be applied. Anyone know when and where that's going to happen? When do we think (if) The Oogie Boogie Bash tix will go on sale? What fun! Can't wait to get my mitts on a dolewhip!!!

Trader Sams is also tiny. They would have to really rearrange the tables in chairs indoors. Outside has a little more space. They could always check people's temps before they get in the restaurant/bar.

Anyone want to wager a guess as to what happens with Oga's?
Oh man I forgot all about Oga's...they could probably still open, but at less capacity. For the booths, they would have you share them with another party. I could see that not happening going forward.

Having a hard time imagining how they wouldn't have it open in some capacity given the average spend has to be substantially higher than other places due to the cost of everything. Or maybe we just spend an absurd amount of money.

That is an interesting thought. I also wonder about attractions like Buzz and Toy Story. 🤔

What about Savi's too? I had the impression that it is pretty small in there. Is there six feet of distance between builders? Or would they just do every-other-station? I can't imagine they won't want to sell as many $200 lightsabers as possible.

I would think Buzz might be closed. All those hands touching the blasters... yuck.

But honestly how is that any different than holding the bar on any ride, the steering wheel on Indiana Jones, etc? Seat belts on Star Tours?

Same with Droid Depot. People touch the different pieces and put them back on the conveyer belt all the time. I guess they could have a CM pick the pieces for you...

Idk. It's not really any different. Perception, maybe?
Doesn't WDW open a month from today? I would expect Disney should start releasing some of this info soon.

Or they’ll have every builder use hand sanitizer prior to entering. Similar to how a CM on a cruise directs everyone to use sanitizer before entering a dining area.

To distance everyone not only inside but outside as they wait their turn to enter will be complicated. There isn’t very much shade outside of Droid Depot.

My thoughts on sanitation at DL & going on rides at DL in this new normal:

  • Pay attention to Youtube around 7/11 when 2 of the WDW parks reopen. There will be a bunch of video by bloggers/vloggers showing what the procedures are and all that.
  • Hand sanitizer will probably be stationed everywhere...at entry to rides and after.
  • Bring your own hand sanitizer. Like an 8 oz bottle of it.
  • Use hand sanitizer before you get on a ride and immediately after as well. Don't touch your face in between.
  • Bring some sanitizing wipes and wipe down the table and chairs when you sit down to at at a Quick Service restaurant.
  • Keep your mask on when you're supposed to (which will basically be all the time except when you're eating or drinking).
  • Expect capacity for ADRs to be probably half of what they regularly are.
  • I'd also expect capacity for Savi's Workshop to be about half of what it normally is. Same thing for the Droid Depot. They probably won't let as many people in at one time.
And, most importantly, if anyone doesn't feel ready yet to venture into a theme park right now for whatever reason, then you should NOT go.

That being said, there's some great video that @Teleclashter on the DIS Unplugged has done of opening day at Universal Studios Orlando and man, that place was basically a ghost town. Of course, we have no idea yet what it will look like at MK in WDW when it reopens on 7/11 (but we only have a month from today to find out), but if it's anything like Universal Studios Orlando, then I think it's going to be pretty fantastic.

We should all expect no character meet & greets, no ability to go up and hug characters or stuff like that. And, of course, Disney has announced no fireworks, no shows (i.e., no Frozen show, no Mickey & the Magical Map), etc. This also means no Fantasmic or World of Color. Probably no character meals either at DL (WDW is only opening ONE at the new Riviera resort) for awhile.

I strongly believe that if you go in with the proper expectations, the right mindset, and some patience, that you will have a FANTASTIC time.
