Tip: Maybe don't go to Disney during a pandemic?

There are so many rooms available right now I don't think many people are going. Not even the popular holidays are sold out like they always are by now. Buddy of my golf at SSR a few days ago and there was no one in the main feature pool at the resort at 2p.m only two cars in the parking lot. Not to mention what if someone you are traveling with all of a sudden has not symptoms but has a fever and cant go into the parks. Then how do you get home if that person still has a fever and the airline happens to be checking tempatures.

I live in Texas where the numbers are mirroring Florida's. I feel more comfortable at Disney than I would in my neighborhood gas stations etc. where people are constantly not wearing mask. Or even washing their hands.
I really dont get people, they dont like the way it feels so heck with (TX) law that says mask in public.

It seems more and more people are canceling either due to rising cases or quarantine regulations.

Also, the thought of wearing a mask in the summer heat is causing some to cancel.

I am from PA And fully intend on going in August. I see no harm in going when rules aren’t being followed anyway. I live in the SE section of the state where people are crowding the NJ shore. so I hardly see what harm going to WDW will cause.

????????

The “harm” is that there’s still a pandemic that’s killed 130,000 in the U.S. alone.

I think my point is more that I intend to go and fully follow all rules ( I am assuming wearing a mask when going out will be in place for me until a vaccine is found).

it seems many enjoying summer festivities are not observing rules and regulations. I can work from home, so if i go and follow rules, and come home and quarantine, I do not believe my travels will do any harm.

(my apologies if I made my point a little harshly)

There are plenty of reasons to not go, uncomfortable mask, closed restaurants, no fireworks, parades. Maybe you will be near someone who did not follow the rules. Maybe someone coughed while eating and it lingered in the air.

But there are reasons to go. Maybe it's not the full on experience, but maybe it's your favorite place in the world. I just like the way strangers, castmates and visitors treat each other. The shared experience. Also, I heard there are 50% off sales to move merchandise.

I don't need to tell anyone here to be careful, I know you all are, and I imagine you have more trust in the Disney community at large than most of our own hometowns.

I think that i can not hide away for the next 18m or so.
I feel great when I am around other people following the rules even if they are made to. Where I will be is MCO, Disney buses, Disney properties. all those places are people wearing mask hopefully washing hands/sanitizer then home we will go back to the land of people refusing to wear mask, or even keep back from my personal space. I totally get you.
I replanned our trip in mid October hoping the intense heat is starting to fade and hurricane season is over. Even though it will be far from normal we all need joy in our lives... especially right now.

A good idea? No, not really. I don't think it's a good idea to be out and about anywhere during this pandemic. I've been staying home for 3 months, just recently went into a store and had to go to the DMV and that's been it. I am also furloughed from work. Yes, it is scary and you have to be very diligent and careful. I am still planning on going on my September trip. It's going to be a different kind of Disney, that's for sure, but it will still be nice to get away and visit my happy place. People thought we were crazy for going last year during the hurricane (turned out to be the best trip ever) and I am sure people will think we are crazy for going this year.

Even if you think Disney will do a good job preventing spread you are still flying into FL and using hotels/restaurants/etc.

Biggest problem with going right now if you are not local is if you get sick:

1) I hope you have national health insurance(many plans only cover the state you are in).
2) You and your family will be stuck in Florida in a hotel or hospital for a few weeks... not the type of vacation extension you want.
3) The stress of extending hotels, cost, rescheduling flight, etc... all while you are sick.

Disney is not going anywhere. Its crazy to go right now.

Let's add to that....
4) if you choose to ignore your symptoms and fly home anyway, then you're spreading the virus (even with a mask on) to potentially hundreds of people.
5) Since you'll likely be contagious/shedding the virus before you even show a symptom, add to the above number.
6) Or you just go home, and no one cares to count that one extra "positive" case gone back to (pick a state, any state) which was actually caught while on vacation in FL at a theme park (hey, keeps FL negative #'s down!)
7) annnd lastly, you then get to spread all those new virus germs you picked up while visiting another state, and now you can share it with your local community.
*what could possibly go wrong?*
Let's be real. How many travelers to WDW are quarantining for a full 2 weeks before they leave, and after they return?

I recently went, largely because I was afraid things might shut down again later. I was super cautious everywhere and made decisions on where to spend my time based on ease of maintaining distance from others and limited indoor dining. I went to Epcot and AK for the space and outdoor activities. These two parks consistently had the lowest ride times, which also means limited time hanging out around people. I think I would have been too stressed at MK, longer waits for rides and more little kids, who touch a lot of things.

I also purposely avoided Disney Springs and did not go off Disney property as I wanted to limit contact with Florida residents.

To be honest, my favorite part of the trip was spending the afternoon at the pool and hanging out in the Magic Kingdom resort area but not going in MK. I feel the "magic" there more and really like Chef Mickey's breakfast, although it is a lot of money for average food, the atmosphere was very nice and I felt safe in the The Contemporary because of the massive ceilings and outdoor air regularly getting in around the monorail.

I would also recommend weekday trips/visits. Activity picked up on Friday and Saturday, and out of abundance of caution, the weekdays would be better for theme parks and better to leave on the weekend or hang out at the resort pool. A lot is shutdown, and I'll admit I missed not being able to be in parks after dark, especially in the summer heat. Missed fireworks as well and in general felt the food everywhere was worse than before. At least I supported Disney in some way, but if not for the pandemic, I would be much more unhappy about the money I spent on food and the quality in return.

Recent reports shows the park getting really crowded with extensive wait times since the 7th(when silver AP are allowed to attend the park).

I’d stay away right now unless your a local AP holder. To travel there in the heat, risking covid, greatly diminished experience, paying full price, and still wait forever for rides. Lots of cons no pros at the moment.

Agree as well on the heat... made things a bit unbearable and I ducked out a park early as I just needed some AC at the hotel. Fall would be cooler and hopefully less crowded.

Its actually not the silver passholders, but rather the buy one day get 1 day free Florida resident ticket deal that just started...
