Resort Change by Disney

Yes, they found it and said they weren't able to reinstate it but would make a new one with the price protection prices (still better than the new discounted rates). So they made a new one and now I have both the old one and the new one in my account. SMH
So another update....the reason why it couldn't be reinstated was that someone in the back office was reinstating it. I guess Disney had caught the error and were fixing it. LOL

Of course, less than 48 hours after I cancel, they offer the discount i was waiting for. I almost don't want to know, but has anybody been successful in applying the new discount to their resort change?

I would expect you would have to cancel and re-book to get the current discounts.

I called Disney yesterday about my French Quarter reservation for Nov.
Disney insisted Caribbean Beach was my only option but could not guarantee first floor for a walking disability (no elevators available).
I paid to upgrade to Yacht Club.

I'd be really annoyed at that. Not your fault you have to move resort with you having a disability.

Unless the PP had a handicap accessible room at FQ, 1st floor wasn’t guaranteed there either. And no elevators at FQ either. Disney offered her the resort that is comparable to what she had. If the guest doesn’t want to gamble on needing to take stairs, upgrading is their best option.

I did not know that about FQ.
We've stayed at Riverside on upper floors and had elevators in the mansions section so assumed the whole resort had elevators.
It would be handy if Disney would make this known when booking these resorts online.

French Quarter does indeed have elevators. I have seen and used them.

Considering if those resorts are not disabled friendly they should they should be more understanding in moving the op, comparable or not. I would think they would of already booked a room suitable in the first place. I would not want to have to worry about how i would be getting around a resort if i had a disability.

Technically FQ and Riverside are considered different resorts. Sisters, yes. But different resorts.

@Pooh2 Did you talk to Guest Services or the CM who picked up? Your stay should be price protected and it's not your fault they aren't opening your original resort. If the new resort doesn't have elevators, you can maybe talk to them about this and I'd venture to guess Guest Services would move you. Also, CSR is also a moderate and is currently scheduled to be open in November - when we stayed there, I believe there were elevators there also if memory serves.

(The reason I ask is I made a change earlier this summer with the CM who picked up that I was unhappy with (I should have been price-protected) and the Guest CM straightened it out, refunded my additional deposit immediately, and moved us to another resort more aligned with our original booking. I was annoyed enough where we were going to book a non-WDW property and the GS CM was very understanding and said what happened to me should never have happened. We were at WL and ended up getting moved to an AoA Suite for more $. She gave me Poly. Which of course didn't open...but that's another story :) )

CSR does have elevators and it is a lovely resort. If there is price protection i would have a word too if i were in the same shoes.

After a very long wait on hold, the CM was very firm that Caribbean Beach was my only option for no upcharge.

What is the difference between Guest Services and Cm?
How do you know which you are talking to when you call?

I looked on MDE today and Coronado appears to be open for our dates so not sure why that was not offered as an option.

Probably just going to leave it with Yacht Club as this all seems like too much stressing over a disney resort room and have no desire to spend another nearly 2 hours on the phone.
Our March trip was cancelled due to closure, FQ was closed.
Kind of losing enthusiasm for disney trip planning.

Appreciate all the insights!

This.
We had a standard room booked at AKL for right after Thanksgiving. We didn't have an accessible room, but my young son has a mobility device so elevators and a single building were important.
When we got moved, they went out of their way to find us a similar booking. We ended up at Contemporary Tower Theme Park View. The view was a bit of pixie dust, but they worked hard to get us another resort with elevators and a main building room.

You are incorrect. FQ most definitely does have elevators, so for many reasons the OP has a right to not feel satisfied with CBR.

Guest Services is a different team that has the ability to make certain changes than the CMs that answer the regular numbers when you call don't have access to. Some CMs will immediately direct to GS and/or they'll stay on hold with you while they talk to GS themselves, I've experienced both this year. And, as I mentioned above, the one CM moved me and gave me the upcharge without giving GS as an option.

Unless you have the direct GS number (which is somewhere in this thread and not listed by Disney, someone else may have it?), when you call you'll get the CMs who normally handle reservations but you can ask them to please transfer you to Guest Services. I don't blame you for not wanting to call back, but honestly, I'd try unless you really want to stay at YC. Today had really long hold times, but if you call earlier in the morning you might get through faster. If YC is not where you really want to stay, I would recommend asking to speak to Guest Services and see what they say :)

Raising hand ...
We had been moved price protected from All-Star Movie suite to Art of Animation Lion King suite. I applied the Southern State Room Offer and it took off almost $400, and I had the choice of Cars, Nemo, and Lion King. I chose Nemo and the price lowered was $360 instead of $400 off a 3 night stay. I was surprised - happily. (Trip is in December.)

I have a trip planned for Nov. 7th-12th at AOA (Little mermaid room) if it does not reopen on time I am assuming they will offer POP. If I choose not to go there will they offer other resorts at a discounted price?
