Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

The industry didn’t up pressure yesterday because things are going well. I think we can solidly flush the idea of any info for this industry for a long time.
Well, let's hope you are wrong about that. There are alot of people that are working in different aspects such as helping with fires, reopening plans etc. at the same time. Life is messy, and we all have our part to play. But, at the end of the day, life must go on in some form. Disney can still be a part of it in the near future. Have a great day gottalovepluto. :wave2:

Rumor is that WDW won't have Overlays so I'm thinking if WDW doesn't DL won't either. I've booked WDW as a backup if DL isn't open or has more severe restrictions that WDW did in my trip in August right now.
With the exception of Jingle Cruise, WDW doesn't have holiday overlays like DL does.

So I know the theme parks are calling on the governor to reopen them. However what if he refuses to give guidance and keeps giving the “there are talks” spiel. What would be their next option? Waiting? Suing? Adding more pressure ?

My thinking is they are getting nothing out of any supposed talks and are upping the pressure by taking it to the media. The more they talk about how he’s the reason parks can’t open which in turn is hurting the economy the more pressure he’s gonna feel to get things open. Newsom has been very cautious which has made him look good thus far but I think that opinion is going to start to turn.

I think they will continue to add more pressure through the media and potentially move towards a lawsuit if that doesn’t work.

Knott's Halloween Food Fair:
. . .
While the revenue from this event can't possible scratch that of Knott's signature Knott's Scary Farm bash, which was canceled for 2020 due to COVID-19, this string of events is helping expose Knott's to a crowd of theme park fans who are looking for a way to celebrate the holiday. For many, just walking through a decorated theme park may be worth the price of admission.

We went to the Taste of Knott's this last weekend. We had never visited Knott's before. We thought the event was really well-done. We never felt unsafe; people generally were good about masks and distancing. They had some of the residents of Calico/Ghost Town out on balconies to interact with guests. The Fall-O-Ween event menus look really good and they're adding a treat trail for kids (or even adults who want to buy an add-on). And all guests can wear costumes! I'm impressed with their efforts. Go Knott's!

Imho only options are public pressure and lawyers. If they open without gov approval they risk losing state operating licenses so that’s not on the table.

NYC gyms filed class action suit in August and opened at limited capacity a couple weeks later.
NYC restaurants did the same ($2B suit) about two weeks ago and literally granted limited indoor capacity within a couple days, I believe (to start 9/30).

Seeing all those theme parks united behind a trade group and the City of Anaheim speaking out makes me think, yes, that could be a future step.

Especially since they mentioned Anaheim has lost 100 million in revenue in that news clip that was recently posted....

100% unknown.

They are beautiful and definitely worth seeing so if this is a one trip for Xmas and there is no overlay I would definitely delay it to next year.
Yeah, that's really hard to say. Ordinarily DL would be decked out for Halloween right now (or close to it - I don't remember the exact timing). Outside of NBF and JB overlays the changeover to Christmas does not take long, and draws in the local crowd. With assumed crowd restrictions and COVID uncertainty they may just pass on it this year. Too bad! FWIW - don't forget to stroll through the Grand Californian if the decorations are up. It may be the prettiest of all, and in the past they have even had Santa and carolers in the lobby (plus you don't need to pay park admission to see it).

I love GCH Xmas!

Although this year Santa will not be in the lobby. In WDW Santa’s are to randomly appear throughout WDW to prevent crowding situations. (No meet & greet or photos with him.)

So there was a rumor that the tram would not be in use with park opening. This was furthered by the tweeted photos by Magic & Walnut that were posted here yesterday showing benches and trash cans along the route, as well as health and safety signs. NOW, Mondo and Danny from Five Fires and Discover the Magic have located a sign on the route that says “reservations required for park entry”. Given all this set up, I can’t speak to how SOON it will open (that’s being pushed with the Gov) but I believe that this is probably going to be the case. Especially considering WDW isn’t using the tram either. It is fun to see more set up though 🥳

I am not seeing any update today from Newsome except for Latino Heritage Month proclamation.

Anyone know if there is a video today so I can get my dose of bad news?

Well, interesting. I assume it's to do with SD? So, how're they going to handle the ('inside seating') buses to and from TS lot? I'd think the open air trams would be 'safer'.

Maybe TS lot won’t open when the Park reopens? Only Mickey and Pixar, with walking to the esplanade.

I’m assuming they would somehow keep the courtesy Disney Van going for those needing additional assistance? I wonder if those would use a different route to get to the front gates, allowing the team route to be used by pedestrians. Maybe around via Harbor boulevard where the buses normally come in?

Numbers continue to fall in OC...

150 new cases Total. 4.7 cases per 100,000 (down from 5.2 last week) and 3.9% positivity rate (Down from 4.2% last week).

Possible based upon this trend that OC could qualify for Orange in a couple weeks :) (Need to get to 3.9 cases per 100,000 to qualify but these low case numbers if they continue will get there at next week's update)
