Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

See the 'Yacht Club Room View' thread. There is a room category map posted. I think that the quiet pool would be under the GV category. The 'water views' would be lagoon, lake or marina view. the thread does mention a 'pool view' but I would guess that is SAB and includes lagoon views.

If I was paying $110 per night to look at the quiet pool I would not be happy :wizard:
The Disney website includes pool view for the water view category, which makes me nervous. I did request a view of the lake, so that should help. :) But with a 40% annual passholder discount and the fact that we are avoiding the more expensive Friday and Saturday prices, it is only costing us $50 more per night. So it better be worth it. ::yes::

This will be our first time staying at the YC since they remodeled the rooms. We are really looking forward to staying here in just a few days. DH has been working too hard and really needs the vacation. I just want to have fun. :)

How I got the $110 per night more Water view vs GV estimate: The non-AP pricing for Oct 25-30 is 569nt Garden View and 668nt Water View before taxes. (With the AP discount GV is ~$400/night for 5 nights tax incld/ no Fri Sat.)

The proper way to deal with it is to use Disney math. Disney math is what we use when we want to justify the price we are paying. ;)

According to the Disney website, the average daily cost for the AP discount water view for our dates is $379.92. The average daily cost for the AP discount for garden view is $ 320.52. Using Disney math means it is only approximately $50 more per night. See how that works. :)

Have you ever received a view of the quiet pool instead of a view of the lake when you booked a YC water view room in the past?

:)

Many years ago. They have since reclassified the room views & those are now garden view. This is the map Dee has on the YC info post on page 1. You can see that the rooms facing the quiet pool are garden view. Of course, this was all from before the shut down. So if things changed, none of us know it yet. ;)

Sorry if this has been asked - are Cabana rentals 60 days out like dining now? Or can I book sooner? I'm 95 days out!

And how do we feel about a cabana in January....crazy? It's just my husband and I and I was going to rent one for our cancelled trip this year and still like the idea.
The new default would logically be 60 days but why not just give them a call to reserve a cabana at (407) WDW-PLAY or (407) 939-7529. Please note that they are currently only offering full day rentals.

January can be lovely and also quite cool for multiple days. No real risk as you can easily cancel 24 hours before your day before if the weather is not cooperating.

I didn't know I could wait that long to cancel - thanks!

Close enough. I just wanted to show that I didn't pull that amount out of nowhere. I think Disney gives those big discounts to make it feel like we're getting a crazy deal but when you look at normal hotel prices you get schooled.

Last week, our daughter and her SO were placed in GV at YC--it was Room 3082 and overlooked the quiet pool--so GV not WV for the pool view, at least the quiet pool.

Hello, Dee,

Well, our plans have changed AGAIN (4th time? maybe 5th?) Anyway, we have changed our Yacht Club Garden View reservation from 4/24-5/1 to 4/10-4/17, so we could take advantage of the AP discount.... Saved $900!! YIPPEE!!

We REALLY need to have this trip stick!!! We'll be two wild "mature" ladies on scooters!

When you get a moment, can you change our dates on the BOG list? Thanks!!

Haha, I “Disney Mathed” myself from a garden view into a water view for my stay this past September. The difference for four nights was around $200 after AP discount. Zero regrets, it gave balcony time a real Disney feel so that it was an event in itself. It was wonderful to wake up to this every morning!

How much time do you plan to spend on the balcony, and are you people and activity watchers? Garden views can be very pretty too, but most of them don’t have anything in particular to look at besides trees and greenery. A very lucky few will get a sideways Gazebo view. Not bad at all, very quiet and pleasant, and you will be away from the entrance and parking areas. It’s a great choice if you use your balcony mainly for a morning coffee or just a bit of quiet time away from the bustle.

Great view!!! What room number was that?

I just booked three nights in a water/pool view room at Yacht club (booked a split stay with Gran Destino Tower). I have stayed at other deluxe resorts but this will be my first time here. I'm a bit confused on the layout of the room. I assumed I was booking two queen beds but it looks like they can put you in just about any layout. I'm traveling with my adult son and a room with a king bed won't work. I called to add a request for two queens but she said it was not guaranteed and because we share the same last name it will look like a husband and wife traveling so there may be a good chance we will be put in a king room😢 Has anyone had any problems getting their requested room?

Your water view room has a great view and the added bonus of being near the lobby is a big plus. We had a sideways garden view that looked at the gazebo, which was nice, too. The only view I don't want at the YC would be standard view.

The odds of getting two queens is high and the odds of getting a king bed are very low. There are probably less than 30 king rooms, although I don't know for sure. They always tell you that your request is not guaranteed, but a request like two queens should be okay. :)

i would call back and tell them I want to add a room preference. The preference would be: need 2 queens because this is mother and adult son.

We placed a mobile order for Ale & Compass tonight. It took about 30 minutes to prepare when we arrived for pick-up. Something to keep in mind if you are in a hurry or looking for “fast food”. They mention the wait will be similar to dining in the restaurant on their app. Not everything that they serve in the restaurant is listed on their mobile menu. (Like most mobile menus we have experienced here). Overall, everything was good.

Thanks for the report! I'm excited to try this!

I was reading the FAQ on the daybed. Is it still the case some couches may not be a pull-out couch/daybed in a Garden View room?

Will be four of us, so technically two queens work, but oldest teen rather be on a couch.

So pleased to say that I booked Yacht Club for October 17-23, 2021 as part of a split stay. We’ll be starting off at Pop on October 12th. We’ve never stayed at either resort and it’s our first Deluxe resort. Hopefully, things look better this time next year.

We booked a Garden View room. Any suggestions on any requests we should make?

Congrats on your booking. I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:dogdance:

The Canada/US is not reopening yet, so our November YC trip has been moved to March 26-31, 2021. Sadly, rack rate for the spring is insane, so we’re currently booked at CSR. Hopefully a discount will come out and we can move back to YC.

Our December dates have shuffled a bit, we’re now YC GV, December 4-9th. Maybe the border will be open by then. I’ve got fingers, toes and everything else crossed. But, just in case, we’ve added Jan & Feb trips too. Something has to work out.

And, since I’ve been so gloomy about all the cancelled trips, DH said to book for the MK 50th, so I’ve at least got that to dream about if all the earlier trips fall through.

So Dee, please make the following BOG changes...

Nov 13-18 YC GV - cancelled
Dec 4-9 - YC GV
Dec 11-15 - BCV 1 bdrm - cancelled
Jan 29-Feb 2 - YC GV
Feb 19-24 - YC GV
Mar 26-31 - CSR (until an AP discount gets released, then it‘s YC GV)
Sept 28-Oct 5 - YC GV for MK 50th

Thanks!

Got it! (I think)

I'll make the updates soon.

:goodvibes

I made the switch today from 7 nights at Poly Studio to 5 nights at BC studio. Why you might be thinking..b/c the Poly was our bucket list trip in 2020 at CL which got cancelled. The more research I did I realized I would prefer to do something that puts us within walking distance to two parks. DH suggested a "shorter" visit next year then in 2024 we will try doing the bucket list trip again. I'm happy with the decision we made and am now again "getting excited" about the trip. I know it will be different but at least we will have to option to walk to parks if we choose. I am also keeping my 7 day tickets with hopper since when I move it to a 5 day (without hopper) it would have cost more. I am HOPING hopper comes back by then...but we shall see! SO yes, I am now stalking this board and soaking it all in!!

:welcome: to this thread!

When is your trip?

:cool1:

Same here! We avoided them but one kid gave in and tried them on our last day at Ale & Compass. Not sure if they use the mix or not, but they looked normal to me and he liked them!
We just got back from BCV. We had a minor issue with our first BCV room and got switched to YC for one night. The morning of our switch back to BCV we took our groceries to bell services ourselves to make sure they got refrigerated. When we got back to BCV that night, they had delivered our luggage and placed all the cold items in our refrigerator.

:welcome: to posting on this thread!

Thank you for the helpful comments.

:thumbsup2

We just got back and for the first few days, because of the boards, I told my kids to avoid the waffles, but they just couldn't resist and it turns out that everywhere we ate them at Ale & Compass and the Wave and other places the kids and my husband said they were amazing and just as good as before, if not better! Enjoy them and don't worry about the naysayers!

I haven't read through all the posts since returning, but we ate breakfast many mornings at Ale & Compass and it was wonderful. We had dinner at Il Mulino and currently, if you are interested, they have a special going on there through 10/31 called Magical Dining where they are offering a $35/person pre fixe menu with an app/entree/dessert. You can go on the magical dining website to find the participating restaurants, this was the only one by BC, but there are other participating restaurants in Disney Springs.

Only a couple of us ordered off the pre fixe menus but we were all pleasantly surprised with Il Mulino. The kids and I couldn't get enough of the mussels, they were out of this world.

We also ate at Bluezoo and it was good. Not mind blowing, but all our fish was fresh and they had interesting takes on certain dishes. I'm personally not one for mixing meat with fish, which they do a lot of there. The steak there was good and everyone loved the NE clam chowder.

Forno Italia breakfast was off for us. I just can't wrap my head around tomato sauce with breakfast, although the pancakes were good (very different). They inadvertently served my husband a raw egg there instead of 2 poached eggs...one raw...like totally raw...and one poached.

We did lunch at beaches and cream. We had higher hopes for this one because when we rented a cabana our first day, we ordered some burgers and a chicken sandwiches and they were absolutely out of this world. I asked our waitress where they came from and she didn't know but we saw them on the Beaches and Cream menu. I'm thinking now maybe they came from Martha's Vineyard or somewhere else because they just weren't as amazing, but we still enjoyed Beaches and Cream and the No Way Jose sundae was wonderful as usual! The jukebox was working until some bratty kids came up and started banging on all the buttons. My 5 year old wanted to tell them to stop and that they were being bad, in hindsight, I almost wish I let her so that the music would have continued, but it stopped after that and they never put it back on.

If you have questions about any particular dishes at the close by restaurants, we ordered almost all of them (we had a large group with us), so feel free to reach out and I'll tell you how they were.

We went to The Boathouse the first night and parking was honestly impossible. Don't drive there whatever you do. We got lucky, but that is a long story and I really thought I was going to have to drop everyone off and leave them there and go back to the resort to take a bus, that's how bad it was!

Not sure if this got answered later, but we just got back, rented a cabana and we were able to order hot food. Not sure where it came from, but know it wasn't HH. The burgers and chicken sandwiches we ordered were awesome and way better than anything I expected. It did take awhile for our server to appear so make sure you let Ashley know that you want to order so she can send the server to you. She goes into the resort to get the hot food, not over to HH and it takes a little bit.

We just got back, rented a scooter for my reluctant 78 year old mother and myself who is very pregnant. We shared it. It was a Godsend when we walked to HS and we were one of the first there, let in before park opening and on and off MMRR before 9:20am! Without it, everyone would have been passing us on the almost 20 minute walk there.

We rented from scooterbug and got a 10% DVC discount. Picked it up at Bell services on arrival day and dropped it off the night before. It was super easy and convenient. One battery more than lasted our entire day in the park and it was easy to take everywhere. We took the Skyliner back from HS and just brought it on a special car. You can't fit as many people on the skyliner with the scooter so a couple people just had to go on their own car. I think with the scooter about 4 more people can fit.

The skyliner was not running from IG that early so that option is completely out if you want to be there before opening which was 10am this week but they let us in at 9:10 or so. I must admit, I didn't look at my watch, but it was somewhere close to that since we got off MMRR so early.

Thank you so much for the detailed reviews and helpful info!

:thanks:

Just finished reading several pages of this string and found so much helpful info: thanks to all of you who took the time to share. I had searched to see if the YC had coffee machines in the room and wasn't having any luck, but I learned her that there are Keurig machines. I have never stayed at the YC but I'll be there 5 nights next week. Since I own DVC, I haven't stayed in any resorts outside of DVC for nearly 20 years (and prior to that I'd stayed in a couple of moderates.) And, thanks for letting me know that the Magical Dining was extended thru Oct. I reserved a spot at Paddlefish and I may try Il Mulino, too.

:welcome: to the thread!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:woohoo:

Did you enjoy the cabana rental? It's on my list of must dos for our next trip!

:welcome: back here!

Do you have an upcoming trip booked?

:cool2:

Fingers crossed-we may actually get to come home! Booked for April @ YC and hoping COVID19 and NYS quarantine can co-operate to let us make the trip. This will be the third(!) reschedule of a trip and am hoping that third time is the charm. We had hoped that Nov would work when we rescheduled our Aug trip but we don't have the extra 2 weeks vacation time to quarantine when we get back. Just going to hold onto hope that things get better and we round the corner on this ordeal.
