New change to the pre-travel testing program to begin this Tuesday, Nov 24th

My daughter and I are scheduled to fly to Maui tomorrow morning (Saturday) on Hawaiian. We took the vault test Wednesday morning (super easy process and the zoom call supervisors were so nice) and both kits were logged in as received by the lab Thursday at 10am. Hawaiian Airlines' partnership with vault says that it provides a 24hr turnaround after receipt at lab for results. My daughter's results were in at 7 am this morning so less than 24 hours. Mine still have not arrived. No luck calling, emailing, etc directly to Vault. I am hoping they come in over night :(
Oh man please keep us posted - we take ours tomorrow am.

The hope is alive! Vault runs their testing 24hrs a day, and some of my family got our results in the middle of the night. Good luck!!

Yay -good to hear. We are on the west coast (flying from OAK) so I still have 12 hours :) It is just VERY hard for my type A personality. I am not a last minute type person!

Good luck - it really was a simple process and the reps that supervised couldn't have been nicer. The reps that helped my daughter and me told us to use a sharpie to write "STAT Hawaii" on the box and the shipping bag. The reps who helped my husband and son (who fly Monday) did not give them that tip. I would definitely make sure to mark it with the volumes that they seem to have. My son and husband only waiting about 10 minutes in the Zoom waiting room today, vs the hour that my daughter and I waited on Wednesday. Good luck with your test tomorrow but more importantly good luck with the results timing.

How long does the process take to get a QR code once you have your negative test result? Does HI want everyone to have the code or , as a bare minimum, will they accept a printed copy of negative result?

If the approved partners can't deliver, Hawaii is effectively closed again
No kidding. It seems like the airlines are going to have to pair with their “trusted partners” and guarantee travelers if they don’t get their results in time to board, the airline and test company cover all their associated change/cancellation fees. Otherwise, I know I personally would not have the confidence to book. Good luck to all of you who are going soon!!!

I looked up the testing available at Newark Airport. There is the setup for people traveling to London, but XpresSpa has set up rapid testing at both Newark & JFK.

I checked the Hawaii Safe Travels page & they will accept Xpres starting 11/20! This is excellent news & even better that you can make appointments for Xpres Check as well.

Hope is now lost - test did not come in overnight. My daughter and I still went to airport hoping it would come in before our 9:25 flight (which was delayed 20 minutes giving us a little more time). No results. Multiple calls, emails, web inquiries and I cannot get ahold of anyone at Vault for a status update. My account on vault still just shows that they have received my test back but nothing more. Hawaiian was willing to cancel and refund rather than just issue a travel credit. We are back home with a tiny hope that maybe something will show up in my email and we can take a late afternoon flight or we can find a way to get one of the pre-flight appointments on United and test again tonight or tomorrow morning.

Moral of the story - have back-up testing done if you want to have more certainty about being able to go.

Oh no! I’m so sorry the results didn’t come in time. You’re living out everyone’s nightmare.

We canceled our December Hawaii trip yesterday & it was a relief. I don’t think I can handle the anxiety of not knowing if the results will arrive in time.

So sorry! Also hoping that they come in and the airline will allow you to rebook today or tomorrow.

Bring a printed copy of your results just in case. Every adult needs to have their own safe travels account, which will result in each adult having a QR code. If you're traveling with minors they can all be under 1 adult as fellow travelers.

You don't get the QR code until you complete the questionnaire that you fill out 24 hrs before your trip. Id say the QR code is instantaneous after you complete the questionnaire. It is emailed to you, but most easily visible in your browser on travel.hawaii.gov, then click on Trips. The QR code will show up along with some other info that the rental car counters will want to see.

Thank you - it isn't looking good. Unfortunately after today the results won't be good for Hawaii even if we get them since we tested on Wednesday. There is one more flight out tonight on another airline (at least I leave in the SF Bay Area where I have three airports to consider) that I could make - but we are down to about 30 minutes to make that happen. Still no response from any of my communication attempts with Vault over the last 24 + hours.

Obviously much bigger issues in the world than my vacations and I will put everything back in perspective tomorrow, but I am just bummed that this is the fourth trip that we had planned for this year that is now cancelled: Aulani, Magic in the Med, Disneyland for Halloween weekend, now Maui.

I like your attitude. Sorry for your last minute cancellation due to testing not coming in time. It’s not an easy situation to deal with, but looks like you have handled this better than most would. Understandably, you are bummed and I hope you and your daughter get to travel together soon!

I'm just so shocked that Vault's results did not come in on the day it was supposed to so you could catch your flight! What a nightmare! #2020

Are there other reports of that happening? If Vault's turnaround cannot be trusted that would be such a let down.

It's not through United...Its through express check. https://www.xprescheck.com/

Looks like they don't have appointments on weekends - Our flight is on a Saturday. However I'm wondering if we can just go to the airport on the Thursday or Friday before and just get a rapid test? I hope Hawaii will accept their rapid test...it doesn't really say which one they accept

There are also reports on Hawaii trip advisor forum of people not getting Vault results back.

Our flight is on Tuesday, but before they open so I scheduled appointments for Monday. I tried to call yesterday to confirm we can have them the day before our flight but recording said to call M-F and I found them listed on the Hawaii approved site. Also we are now looking in Walgreens rapid test - each time I looked for appointments they are booked solid (only 3 days out will the schedule) but if you go online between 5p-6p, that is when they open up the spots for the 3rd day. We don't mind if we have to drive a few hours to get a rapid test, chalking it up to family time :)

Would it be crazy to test first and THEN book a trip last minute? Like for the next day? So if you got a test back in 24 hours you would have 48 hours to get to Hawaii?

Is that even possible or do you need travel plans locked in?
