From what I’ve heard/seen/read so far, it’s exactly how I expected. The first few episodes aren’t for the people that need in your face action and storytelling from the get-go. It’s going to be a slow burn that transform into a full blown MCU adaptation. I’m anticipating a lot of “I was disappointed” comments tomorrow

Hit the nail on the head. 88% positive audience rating but I am seeing a lot of below:

I didn’t like the idea of 2 episodes to start, much prefer 1 a week even at 30 min, but it really sounds like they needed to go with the first 3. Much of the younger generation can’t connect with these old sitcom shows, a lot of them have never even heard of shows like The Honeymooners, Bewitched, etc. so I kind of expected this to happen. But as I said, these first 2 episodes are just the introductory phase of the movie. What we see today, and even part of next week isn’t going to tell the full story

Yeah it is going to take some time to get to the meat of what the heck is going on like why they are stuck in tv sitcoms and how vision is even alive. I have a feeling that after we know more later on that these first few episodes are going to look very different.

I agree. That is why they gave critics the first 3 episodes. If they had this realization for critics, they should have felt it would be the same for the audience.

I haven't seen the episodes yet so not sure how much they deviated from the sitcom storyline in the first two episodes. It feels like most of the bad audience reviews are people that don't understand this is a continuation from Infinity Wars/Endgame and we are watching Wanda's mental breakdown from Visions death.

There’s no doubt in my mind that these 2 episodes aren’t just throwaways and that when you rewatch the series in full later, it’s going to connect cohesively and you’re going to have needed these first 2 episodes

Absolutely. They knew what they were doing

How They should have marketed this show is say. “Find Tom King’s Vision, House of M, and the West Coast Avengers from 1988, read them, or read the cliff notes online before watching the series”. 99% of the people that watch MCU content have never picked up a comic book in their life, so a show like this was always going to have that audience problem to start.

That is my expectation. I think this is a series that I'm going to want to completely re-watch once it is finished.

This is a show I wish they dumped all at once like Netflix. Definitely would want to binge through the entire season at once. The 2 episodes are great, but the wait week to week is going to be killer trying to spot the nuances.

I just started my MCU rewatch towards Black Widow, and I fully intend on watching Wandavision and FatWS in full after I’m done with Spider-Man Far From Home. I’m still going to watch them weekly, but they’re now a part of my watch throughs

That is true but I think if it gets going and the social media picks up, the ones that dropped it after two episodes will jump back on board.

Agree but D+ is trying to go the same route as CBS and basically have Marvel (and star wars) shows that basically run year round. CBSAA just finished something like 30 weeks straight with a new star trek episode every week. That definitely seems to be where D+ wants to be with Marvel and Star Wars. Once WV ends I think we have a week break and then falcon & winter solddie then loki shortlly after that and looks like what if shortly after that running us through end of 21. So basically from now through end of the year we should have a marvel tv show almost every week.

Oh yeah I definitely get why they’re doing. I’ve just gotten so used to streaming whole seasons it’s now tough to try to get back to a regular TV like schedule. Mando wasn’t as difficult as the episodes were more standalone and didn’t have that overarching mystery like this show has already. But I’m loving this show already!

Exactly. I'll type up my thoughts in a spoiler tag soon.

The trick is all in the pace of the show. A lot of the big streaming hits have been like really long movies and are made for binging. Something like Stranger things where the dilineation between episodes is not as tight is the perfect example. Mando was definitely episodis, so the weekly schedule worked. The issue is when they run one type of show as the other - like networks trying to use the Stranger Things style - it doesn't work. I hope WandaVision has the right pacing for weekly release.

I know it's news and rumors but can we please just have a d+ show talk thread and put spoiler tags and stuff so the news thread doesn't turn into another recap thread with wandavision?

The only breaks I see are only a week (between WV and FatWS and again between FatWS and BW) up until September/October depending on when What If? starts. And that’s if Hawkeye or Ms Marvel aren’t pushed up to that timeframe which could give them close to a full year without more than 2-3 weeks where there isn’t a show on Disney+ or a movie in theaters.

I personally prefer the week to week episodes over a full dump. I think Netflix would be smart to adapt the change to Stranger Things S4. I also think after Episode 3 or 4 that it will be preferable for WV to be weekly so you have a week of speculation and talk over whatever mysteries are happening in the show

Finished watching the first two episodes and the ending of episode 2 really made me think a lot.

So in the advert in episode 2 we had "Strucker" which is the name of a character from Hydra (and the hydra logo on the watch).

Then at the end we had the beekeeper. Beekeeper outfits are used by A.I.M. which is an organization founded by Strucker.

So definitely some Hydra and AIM connections plus some infiity stone links and that weird radio broadcast. What does it all mean? No freaking idea. lol[/ISPOILER]

I'll quote you since it tied into my thoughts

Ok, this series is awesome, the level of detail they are putting in the style of show they are in (4:3 aspect ratio, mono audio the cameras, etc). This show is gonna be bonkers, and it will not end well for Wanda.

I love the commercial in the episodes. Don't read too much into as something connection, i'm fairly certain it just ties into her trauma. First one was stark bomb (when it blew up their house). 2nd is being experimented on with Hydra.

My guess is that wasnt a bee keeper originally. Agents are outside whatever "wall" she has built , and he went in with a hazmat suit, but as he came into her reality, it turned into a beekeeper suit.

Also, the african american girl is definitely Monica Rambeau and she most likely piloted that helicopter that Wanda found as a toy.

Also, I think there's some heavy foreshadowing at play. "the devil is in the details" "that's not the only place he is" Wonder if referring to Mephisto?

Also, saw a theory on reddit that I really like (think it got deleted). Vision starts off in black and white because that's the last memory of him when he died, and as Wanda is bringing back to life is when it turns to color (end of ep2)

Probably more I'll think of later, but it's gonna get weird

the beekeepers almost have to be AIM. The look is way too close and AIM has already been introduced in the MCU (Iron man 3). This is AIM from the comics
