Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

We just got back and I have to say that the Beach Club/BCV continues to be a favorite of ours. Even with a room down a long hallway of doom, we quite enjoyed our stay and the location. I just wish they were running more buses. Seemed the BC/YC buses were little unicorns at times while we saw Boardwalk bus after bus arrive.

As to Stormalong Bay, this was one of the things we were most looking forward to trying out. I didn't manage to go during my last trip due to timing. This time we had a cabana one day (cabana #1). If it is possible for you to do so, I highly recommend the cabanas. It was so glorious to have that space. We spent 10:30-4:30 at the pool one day and cannot imagine we would have stayed nearly as long without the cabana.

The one other day we went to the pool was a VERY busy day. We did manage to get chairs right away but we had to wait on a few people ahead of in line to get seated before us. Unfortunately the chairs we were given were seated on the sun itself and I felt like a melty puddle o' goo. Thankfully, someone near us left shortly after we arrived and a CM let me swap places with them for the now vacant spot in the shade. Lesson learned: request a spot in the shade and wait even if we have to get one.

Now I also have a question. We had so much fun, I went to book a trip for next year and could get nothing mid-April in BCV. Do y'all know if they are limiting what can be booked for next year at this time? There actually seemed to be relatively little openings for some hotels all the way into April 2022.

I should know this more definitively but I believe that the Disney Vacation Club (DVC villas) owners are only able to book a max of 11 months in advance. So the owners at BCV (or any other DVC resorts) haven't been able to book for April 2022 yet. They will be able to next month. I know they keep a certain number of rooms for cash stays at each DVC resort but I don't think they release them until after the DVC owners can book.

You nailed it!

I did not know that! Ok, all makes sense now. I was seriously surprised when I looked and saw zip, zilch, nada available.

My understanding is that Disney owns some points, but like any owner can't use them for rooms until 11 months out.

I read this on the 'here now and just back' thread: trip was last week....
Not sure if it was just bad timing on our part, but they didn't seem to be running a ton of buses to the Beach & Yacht Clubs. Twice we missed getting on a bus after waiting a long time for an initial bus to arrive because it was too full after loading those before us. Same thing happened with a Friendship boat on our last day. Filled up at Boardwalk and only had room for 3 families at our stop. We really felt the social distancing in waits on any Disney Transportation we tried to take.

I probably would not admit to what I am about to say in very many places. But I am probably safe here. I don't watch many shows or movies. I watch YouTube videos about WDW and I have been many times. It gives me something fun to do while I count down the days to my trip. There are videos of people using the walkway to HS. Watching them made me much more comfortable the first time. I also like to use Google Earth. The bird's eye view is helpful.

I pretty much exclusively watch YouTube videos of Disney stuff. Trip vlogs, walkthroughs, etc. When Disneyland was closed (I’m a DLR local) and I didn’t have a WDW trip booked I stopped watching them for a bit because I was in a DIsney depression. But, I booked a trip to WDW for next year and Disneyland is finally getting ready to open again. So I’ve been back at it with the YouTubing! Nothing makes me happier than having a WDW trip to plan.

I also like to watch the videos of people just walking through the parks while I‘m on the treadmill. DH thinks I’m a bit nuts, but he also fully supports my weird obsession with watching DIsney youtube videos. And I’m right there with you with doing the google earth thing and figuring out walking routes ahead of time rather than on the go! So it’s definitely safe here to admit all of that :)

Yep, that was me. It was the busses heading back to the resort from AK and Mk where we experienced the sad bus wait.

Twice we misses the friendship boat, once heading to Studios (the story recounted in my OP) and once leaving Studios. I didn't mention that time as we ended up walking with "purpose" instead as we had an ADR to hit at Epcot.

Going bcv June 12 to the 20. Anyone know what the pool hours will be then for SAB and when is pool likely to hit capacity? Okay with going to pool in morning if we have to but if pool isn't opening till 10 that's park time wasted. Plus we really prefer afternoon, but not of we cannot get in. Could go night too depending on when it closes. Is hurricane Hannah's gonna serve hot food again?

We will be there the first week of June and I am trying to figure out logistics. There will be 6 of us, it will be my two kids first time with no stroller and my dad has a scooter. A mile to DHS seems pretty long, I’m sure we can do Epcot, so here’s my question. Do we have to pay for parking if we opt to drive to some of the parks? I know the buses, boats, etc often only allow one scooter and with social distancing we could be looking at long waits! My dad has a handicap sticker if that makes any difference?

Resort guests do not have to pay for parking.

As a resort guest, you don’t pay for parking. Handicap parking is available and will be marginally closer than regular parking, but distance to where you are going will depend on the park.

I have younger kids that are out of stroller stage at this point. But as we were transitioning, sometimes we would walk to the park but rent a stroller there. Really helped extend the day when little/tired legs are involved

DD is 6 and we still get her a stroller at Epcot sometimes, if I’m honest.

Enjoy your trip!

DS is 22 and DD is 20 now. But back in the day, we would do this in the evening towards the end of the trip. They were too old for the double stroller. But, man, sometimes it is just whatever it takes! I'd rather have people look at me weird because of the stroller instead of looking at me weird during a melt down.

every parent at Disney world "Whatever it takes" I don't know who is giving anyone else stranges looks because we have all been there!

The YC marketplace opened at 6:30am for grab and go food, coffee and beverages. They don't start serving hot food until 7am - at least that has been our experience when we were there. The Beach Club marketplace also opens for grab and go and beverages at 6:30am with hot food starting at 7am. :)

630 opening was pre-covid. Neither market opens until 7am since the resorts reopened and there hasn't been any chatter about that changing yet.

So to clarify please, if you choose to be at yc bus 45 minutes prior to mk 8 a.m. opening and don't have anything prepurchased in your room for a morning breakfast of oj/coffee/muffin type, where do you recommend to proceed?

If you are willing to walk over to the Swan or Dolphin Fuel and Java open many days at 6 am.
