The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

I haven't even stayed at VDH yet, but I'm wondering if they'll change this at hard good refurbs. Could be a fun little change every 14 years or so.

If there are exceptions to even/odd rules, I'd think all Studios that are part of Lock-Offs would be Tiana, as I think all 1BR art has shown they're Tiana themed.
The member open house was on 3rd floor. The two studios shown were next to the one bedroom Tiana (part of lockoff), the exception was true on each of those.

For those of you staying there, How does it compare to the Grand Californian and the other Disney World hotels in general? I haven’t heard of many comparisons much but saw this one and was wondering for those of you staying there, do you feel the same way?View attachment 798126

Closest comparison to me is the Disneyland Hotel only. People liking to stay in those towers sure will fall “MADLY” in love with the Discovery Tower. Just a more modern flare to the classic Disney company animation theming. Don’t think many will wish any other resort rooms were like VDH. The now four towers mesh perfectly together with all the pools at the resort connected together. You can go from the VDH pool through the breezeway to the monorail slide & splash area, to the D & E ticket pool area.

Interesting. I mostly agree just from the perspective of someone who hasn’t seen the DL DVC tower in person yet. But , for example, Bay Lake Tower, in my opinion, I don't think most people would say no to the change:

It appears that
Even floors are Tiana studios
Odd floors are Sleeping Beauty studios
Let’s see if that’s universally true as people post :)
Model rooms for the tour was all on 3rd floor.. and the deluxe studio was Tiana room. Hmmmmm...It was part of a 2 bedroom lockoff though.

ETA: sorry just saw Wedgeout posted the same. I'm just catching up after work. 😅

Sorry if this has been asked, but can you use a MagicBand+ as your room key at the new tower?
I specifically asked at the front desk and they said because the other towers are still old tech, they didn't install it in Discovery Tower either. I really feel its a missed opportunity. They were practically giving out free MB+ to Magic Key Holders last month because they're not selling well, and that's because they're pretty much useless at DLR. They'll light up on rides, but won't automatically send me my photopass like how it is at WDW.

BLT definitely needs a change. Just wish they don’t go the next door Contempory route with Incredibles cling on art. That family is far from contemporary. Stick to a ‘House Of Tomorrow’ interior design, sticking with the Fav5. Do include the pull down Murphy bed trend. I’m not your Imagineer though..sorry.

Thank you to everyone sharing your experiences from opening weekend! I'm staying in a 1 bedroom end of October and considering finally joining DVC now that there are two options at Disneyland. I go on a lot of solo trips to Disneyland so the smaller rooms would be perfect for just me. The whole place looks amazing!

Has anyone that's there now heard an opening date for the pool bar? I saw somewhere it just says "fall 2023". TIA!
Unfortunately the Palm Breeze Bar is not currently open. You can order from their Disneyland Poolside menu though. Like someone said it's pretty much Tangaroa Terrace menu. I caught on my 2nd day and just mobile order from the Terrace to get my MK discount. 😅 tempImageWBxqKd.jpg

Like very very much. Great location with balconies all facing pool area. Entry area are back at bbq area with the doors at end of main building hallways to go through the building. Can go through pool area, down main hallways, or take the path around the south side of building to the rear garden room area. (Nice that each Duo studios categories are mostly with balcony the entire building. Just not ones upper monorail pool side next to grand villas or far west end of building.)
Thanks for sharing so much info on your room. I definitely want to request your room for my stay end of the month. I think there is only 1 non-accessible and 1 accessible duo garden room allocated at this time though so my chances are good? I just don't know about the cash rooms so I'll still put in my request. 😅 Thanks again as all this info is super helpful!

Interestingly, BLT is my biggest and favorite home resort at WDW but its not because of the theme. I am one of the few that really like the layout of the deluxe studio rooms with the separated kitchenette area. Otherwise location is key. Love Top of the World lounge access. I really like the rooms at VDH and the little details in everything. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I enjoy finding the little touches. Like even the curtain in the Duo rooms have small animals on them! I never stayed at a value or moderate hotel so I can't compare to those, but VDH rooms don't feel cheap or IKEA like at all to me. I'm a satisfied owner.tempImageAI7kg7.jpg

I don't think they will because even Poly didn't do Moana like the cash rooms. They kept stitch.

So very welcome! Really enjoyed seeing your view up there out front! Think any garden room will be amazing, both Duo & Deluxe. Also decided the tower designer was all about DVC couples! Went all out making the Duo studio features the best category of them all.

You're supposedly going to be able to buy it on the art on demand kiosk. I think Amy showed it in a smaller size.

Yes but it's not the same because it doesn't have the 3D effects. I told my guide how sad I was to learn about the new promotion and they all just point out I got the better deal. I can live with the Art on Demand version. 😅

FWIW, I really enjoyed not having to bring out my phone every time I go into a park or check into a fast pass/genie+. I agree that it’s a bit ridiculous the rooms don’t work with the MB+’s.

Definitely agree. I think Bay Lake’s template for it’s rooms should be 1965 Disneyland’s Tomorrowland including Monsato’s House of The Future as inspiration and then build upon that with modern amenities . It will be PERFECT, timeless & completely Disney.
