Yes, there should be 3 wheelchair spots. The 2 with the new locking arms are rear-facing; 1 with traditional tie-downs is forward-facing.Not sure this has been said but I rode one today you ride beck wards and I think there is room for 3 mobile devices but not 100% sure
This is what it looks like good to knowYes, there should be 3 wheelchair spots. The 2 with the new locking arms are rear-facing; 1 with traditional tie-downs is forward-facing.
Regarding the bus drivers hating the new buses, I can't help but hope that this gets Disney's attention, and maybe the ordering of the new buses will be stopped. I'm sure I'm not alone in worrying about how children will handle all the standing on the buses with their little arms-we're going to WDW in October with our 3 young grandchildren and considering renting a car for this reason. Also, as I've mentioned, this doesn't make those of us needing ECVs very popular. It's our fault [some might think] that Grandpa, or little Sarah, has to stand on the bus.I know these new buses are supposed to serve a purpose, hopefully in the years to come I’ll figure out what that purpose is. At this point every driver we spoke with, not just the ones on the new buses, despise them, guests seem upset, the boarding process takes longer and there are fewer seats. I remember reading a previous post regarding people with canes, older folks and children having to go up the steps because there’s less seating, that’s absolutely true. I felt terrible taking up room and facing backwards and looking into their faces!!!
I believe the new buses also have 1 “traditional” forward-facing tie-down spot.
You are absolutely correct. There is one "traditional " tie down spot across from the top of the ramp on every new bus.I believe the new buses also have 1 “traditional” forward-facing tie-down spot.
Correction;5289-5370 (newest bus with Orange Bird wrap) are the new style buses.Interesting
You are correct. The new buses can accommodate 3 mobility devices. The 2 in the Quantum restraint system positions are rear facing. There is 1 "traditional" spot across from the ramp that is still forward facing. Not sure this has been said but I rode one today you ride beck wards and I think there is room for 3 mobile devices but not 100% sure
I'm sorry you feel bad but Disney knows darn well they cater to ECV guests and ECV use will continue to rise as the population ages. They chose penny pinching over guest comfort with this new bus fleet- instead of maintaining seats and adding more buses they chose the cheaper route to dump seats and squeeze more ECVs into the buses- it's not your fault they made that decision.Disney has an ECV problem because too many people like me find it a great place to vacation because it is so accessible in an ECV. It's about the only place I've been able to go for years that I can do everything and keep up with my family. It's a grind for transportation and for CM's to deal with all the scooters though. I wish there were more skyliners because I feel bad taking up seats and time with the bus and the new busses just accentuate the issue I think.
There is no excuse for this, they can and must do better.Update from previous post! We are now on day 20, we’ve had a few more encounters with the new buses. On 3 occasions the drivers had to turn us away, the rear facing seat belts were all jammed. On 2 occasions the drivers told us to wait for another bus (yes, I have the dates and numbers), they said there was an old style bus right behind them, there wasn’t any bus! One morning the automatic arms weren’t clamping on the wheels so we listened to beeping alarms on our journey. And yes, I agree, the seats that fold back up if you don’t sit immediately are going to cause injuries, we’ve seen two people fall to the floor, it happens so fast you can’t stop them. We’ve also been on several of the buses when they were full, short people, those with no arm strength, and little ones have nothing to hold on to. I’d say 85% of all drivers, new or old style bus asked guests to please complain, they said it’s the only way to fix the issues. I only hope all guests complain, not only those of us on this forum.
It's amazing to me how Disney can invest in a whole fleet of buses that are literally made to fit more ECVs and somehow they will still be called penny pinchers.I'm sorry you feel bad but Disney knows darn well they cater to ECV guests and ECV use will continue to rise as the population ages. That's two whole different things thought. I agree the busses aren't the best busses, the fact that they are basically only for ECV users sucks. I wonder if a whole bus with the system and no steps would have been better, but I also don't think Disney us designing the buses, just buying them from a provider. And holy cow is it gonna bite them in the behind if these reports of the new restraint systems malfunctioning and people falling trying to sit in the flip down seats accelerate… A 90 bus fleet that ultimately ends up handling less ECVs than before and gets biweekly fell on bus lawsuits should eat through their saved pennies quite nicely.
Wait a minute. Did Cheapek order these? It smells like a Cheapek investment…
Because the busses they invested in are cheap and not really helpful for ECVs, the problem is they spent as little money doing this as they thought they could get away with. I also kind of feel like they intentionally made the choices they did to paint those who use mobility devices in as bad of a light as possible by saying, oh look in order to accommodate all of the mobility devices we had to remove most of the seats and things for those who are standing to hold on to. There are plenty of good designs for busses and mobility devices out there, but they do cost a bit more than this setup. It's amazing to me how Disney can invest in a whole fleet of buses that are literally made to fit more ECVs and somehow they will still be called penny pinchers.
Is this conspiracy theory hour?
