It's MARVEL-ous on the MAGIC! Oct 2017 Canada Coast Cruise COMPLETE! See Ya Real Soon!

Looks like a fabulous solo evening. I am so envious of all the solo time you get. Don't get me wrong I love my family, but seeing a moving and exploring a ship by your self seems like a divine experience!

. I always love all the detail on the ironwork
I'm a sucker for this wherever I go.

My favorite butter knives. I use mine at home all the time! You can purchase these in the gift shop on board the ship.
I forgot to buy one  One more reason to cruise again!
To start I got my favorite appetizer on DCL...the truffle pasta pursettes. They were exceptionally good today!
Soooo good. I could have eaten a whole plate for dinner!
The movie was showing pretty late...think around 11pm, but I heard that Jack and Sally have a meet n greet right after and since I've never met them I thought it was the perfect opportunity
That's cool, I didn't know they did this. We skipped NBC stuff, but decided to finally watch it all the way through before Christmas this year. We've only seem a short section from the middle of the movie.
I spent a lot of solo time on this cruise, just because it really was just us two and the in-laws and they did their own thing a lot, while Steve enjoyed his naps. On the other hand I went exploring, character hunting, or spent time in the Rainforest room. I really wanted to make the most of this cruise and it was great we all got to do things we really wanted to do.
I think this is why we could do a family trip cruise. After DLR and then the wedding trip with family, I don't know if I can take them on something requiring lots of planning lol. I think a cruise will work becasue it would be really easy to meet up on the ship during the day... right now we have done people who want to say, take a break and their SO doesn't, but they stay in the room anyways because of transportation, etc. We're still hoping to do a 5 or 7 night trip with zack's brothers and parents next fall.
There was live music and no line for Mickey so I got another picture with the Captain...
Another reason for another cruise. We didn't do the photos because of the price, and character lines were always long when we went by. All of your photos have been great so far!

Great first day - looking forward to reading about your Palo Brunch (which I would love to do one day).

Thank you!! Palo brunch is phenomenal!!

I am practically drooling waiting to read about your Palo Brunch!! I can't wait!

Palo brunch coming up in next post!!

Looks like a fabulous solo evening. I am so envious of all the solo time you get. Don't get me wrong I love my family, but seeing a moving and exploring a ship by your self seems like a divine experience!

It is divine! It's definitely a different sort of "touring plan" in that...you don't really need a plan! Perfect for you!! Although I do strongly suggest you make an ADR for Palo brunch! That is the only thing I really book in advance.

I forgot to buy one  One more reason to cruise again!

Absolutely, go book a cruise right now to get a knife!! :)

Soooo good. I could have eaten a whole plate for dinner!

I know!! I should have ordered another plate!

I had not seen it in it's entirety either until this cruise but the best incentive is the meet n greet right after. You can just go for the meet n greet and time it so you get on line before the movie ends, but I wanted to have some context when I spoke to them!

I think this is why we could do a family trip cruise. After DLR and then the wedding trip with family, I don't know if I can take them on something requiring lots of planning lol. Absolutely, cruises, especially Disney cruises are perfect for this!! Everyone can do their own thing and then you meet up for meals. If you never want to see a character you don't have to, and those who want to can do so all day!

Another reason for another cruise. We didn't do the photos because of the price, and character lines were always long when we went by. All of your photos have been great so far!

Thank you! We didn't buy the photos either but they took pictures for you on your phone or camera which was really nice!

I’m here, finally coming out of lurkdom. I’ve read most of your TRs, and they’ve provided lots of inspiration about what to do in Disney, so thank you!

This cruise looks so fun; I’ve never been on one, but it’s fun to see something different than Caribbean ports.

Nice dinner at Animator's! I love those truffle pursettes too! There isn't a lot else on the menu that wows me though.

I don't know how you stay awake so late! Usually after dinner I'm toast! They had those Oogie Boogie popcorn holders out at DL & DCA and the lines for them were crazy long!

Great video’s and love that you and Steve got so much spa time sounds heavenly.
Your dinner at Animators Palate looks so good.
More great pictures :goodvibes
What a smart girl you are sitting in the back of the theatre ;)
Love the pic with Jack and Sally.
That tree is so cool.

What a fun first night. I love the beginning of vacation energy. It must be super intense when everyone is all on the same page with that energy! All the Halloween decorations are so cute. I’ve never seen Nightmare Before Christmas...may need to put that on the viewing list for this holiday weekend. Speaking of, Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Love your picture!

Speaking from personal experience, that really depends on the family. Some people won't accept the idea of doing separate things part of the day regardless of the setting.

We went to Senses Spa to buy Rainforest Room passes. Even though it was not as nice as the Fantasy's it was still a great way to unwind and relax. We literally went there every day and I loved taking naps on the heated loungers. I saved all my Disney reward gift cards, and every Disney GC I got as a gift over the past year and a half so that we could go to the spa multiple times on this trip. We had 3 different treatments booked before the cruise: a couples massage, an exotic Rasul treatment, and a pedicure for me. Since we got the Rainforest room passes I thought the Exotic Rasul was kinda like the same thing. You're just in a steam room with scrubs and lotions, so I just changed it to another couples massage. While there we were also told about the port special, a Pamper Package which combines a massage, scalp massage and reflexology for a special price during port days. Since we did not have anything planned for our day in Sydney we booked that for the afternoon and they were able to give us a couples room for that as well. I also confirmed my MIL's massage and facial package that we got her for her birthday which was two weeks prior to the cruise. We were all set in the pampering department, and I could not wait for that part of the cruise to begin! Just want to say, the staff in the spa were excellent. They all remembered us by name, and were just so sweet, maybe because we spent a lot of money there, hahaha.

We just went to our first Disney spa at Aulani and have decided that we absolutely must visit the Senses spa on our next DCL trip. You're description helped seal the deal! The Rainforest Room sounds awesome :D

This is different from the animator's night where your drawing comes to life, that was later in the week
I totally didn't realize there were two different nights at Animator's Palate! The only cruise we've done was a 4 night so we were only there once. How fun!

You can purchase these in the gift shop on board the ship.
WHAT???? That's awesome!

What an awesome first day!!

We had Rainforest passes on our Honeymoon cruise and we LOVED it!! I feel like we used it every single day or anytime during the day we had some down time we'd be like...let's go back to the spa!

Aww thank you for reading!! I really appreciate your kind words!! I'm happy to inspire all things Disney! :)

This cruise looks so fun; I’ve never been on one, but it’s fun to see something different than Caribbean ports.

It was fantastic! I'd do this itinerary again in a heartbeat. It was nice to not be in the heat all the time too. After several trips to Disney where it's been way too hot, it was refreshing! I think cold weather cruises are kinda fun...think blankets and hot chocolate watching movies on the pool deck...mmmm.

Nice dinner at Animator's! I love those truffle pursettes too! There isn't a lot else on the menu that wows me though.

Those are the best things on the menu! The tuna steak is pretty good too!

I don't know how you stay awake so late! Usually after dinner I'm toast! They had those Oogie Boogie popcorn holders out at DL & DCA and the lines for them were crazy long!

I don't know what's wrong with me but when in a Disney environment I don't want to sleep! I am wired and I want to soak everything up!

Great video’s and love that you and Steve got so much spa time sounds heavenly.

Thank you! It was wonderful to get so much spa time. Now to save all those gift cards again, hahaha.

Your dinner at Animators Palate looks so good.

It was a very good first dinner! Thank you!

Love the pic with Jack and Sally.

I do what I must to get those pictures!!

That tree is so cool.

It was so cool! First time I've seen any sort of decoration on a cruise!

Love your picture!

Thank you!!

I guess it depends on the family!

It's the best thing ever!!! The Aulani spa is wonderful isn't it? When we went it was so brand spanking new the lady opened a new bottle of nail polish and I was the first one to use it.

I totally didn't realize there were two different nights at Animator's Palate! The only cruise we've done was a 4 night so we were only there once. How fun!

Yup! I didn't know either until I read more into it. Our first trip on the Magic was only 5 nights and we only got the show not the drawing night.

WHAT???? That's awesome!

Yes! It's the best souvenir!

What an awesome first day!!

It was thank you!

We had Rainforest passes on our Honeymoon cruise and we LOVED it!! I feel like we used it every single day or anytime during the day we had some down time we'd be like...let's go back to the spa!

That was totally us! Actually that was totally me! I used the spa the most!! LOVED it!

Day 2 Part 1: A Date at the Spa

Today was our first sea day! I LOVE sea days, it's kinda like forced relaxation, hahaha. No excursions, fastpasses, or park-hopping. Just a do what you want to do and eat whatever you want kind of day. Sounds pretty good to me!

Since I had such a late night I woke up a little later than everyone else so I told Steve to take his family to breakfast while I caught a little more ZZZs. Not for long though as I couldn't really sleep the morning away...there was a Rainforest room waiting for me! I pretty much just rolled out of bed threw on some clothes and my lanyard with my KTTW card and headed upstairs to Cabanas by myself. Everyone had finished breakfast and were doing their own thing so I enjoyed a lovely solo breakfast outdoors.

I was doing a British-style breakfast with the bacon, beans, eggs and hash browns. Food was delicious and plentiful.

I really enjoyed breakfast outdoors with the beautiful weather, views, and lots of coffee. :)

After my scenic breakfast I headed back to our stateroom change so I could go to the Rainforest Room. I used the DCL Navigator App to text Steve to find out where he was and he was at the gym so I said I'd meet him in the Rainforest room. I was going to go to the gym too since I knew we'd have a big lunch, but that idea was short-lived so I went back to the room and got my bathing suit and headed to Senses Spa. On the way I snapped these pictures of the empty decks. Where was everybody? I loved it!

Granted it wasn't warm enough yet to lay out by the pools...it was probably in the low 60's that morning, but I couldn't help but think we were one of the only ones on the ship!

Never too cold for unlimited soft serve though! A ha! Signs of life!

At Senses, I was checked in by the lovely spa hostesses and given my green wristband which opens the Rainforest Room. It's like a Magic Band! They also offered me my choice of scrubs and I chose lavender. I think the other options were tangerine, chocolate mint, and something else citrus-y but I love lavender so much I used it most of the time. They also offered me a little disposable loofah scrubby thing. This was the first time I've seen these! Awesome. I headed to the locker rooms, got myself a robe and changed and headed for some bliss! BTW, there are sandals you can use at the spa but they are so uncomfortable! They cut your feet no matter how loose you get them so I just wore my own waterproof flip flops all the time.

Unlike the spa on the Dream class ships the Rainforest Room in the Magic doesn't have windows that look outside, but it's still a very relaxing space, with about 4-5 heated loungers, a few steam rooms, and a couple of showers. I don't really care for the showers but I loved the steam rooms and the heated loungers.

I spent some time unwinding here. I read my kindle and listened to some music. :cloud9:
Steve joined me in a bit. There's a fountain in the center of the rainforest room which provides some nice waterfall background noise if you like falling asleep to that sort of thing.

When I was done on the loungers we headed into one of the steam rooms. It was pretty big, with tiled benches and hand-held showers so you can use your scrubs and rinse yourself off. Let me tell you, I have never been more exfoliated in my life! The scrubby thing was nice but you didn't really need it as you can just use your hands as well. I loved the smell of the lavender scrub and my skin was so soft after!! BTW, the Rainforest room was empty at this time. Guess most people didn't care for it so early in the day, but I really enjoyed coming here in the morning!

After we were sufficiently polished we headed to the locker rooms and I decided to shower there. The showers are huge compared to the staterooms and the locker rooms provide everything you need, even facial cleanser and toner! I think I must have showered here more than in our stateroom throughout the whole cruise, and the best part was that it never got crowded, even with only 2 showers.

Before our Palo brunch that afternoon, we had a date with some Arendelle royalty. I had booked the Frozen meet-n-greet when our booking window opened up, think it was 100 days before the cruise. It's held at Animator's Palette so we met up with everyone else there. Definitely book meet-n-greets BEFORE Palo brunch as I can't guarantee you'll be able to make it to your meet-n-greet if it was after brunch because you'll most likely have some sort of food coma.

There was a little bit of a wait still. I like this meet n greet better than Sommerhaus at Epcot because the sisters meet together just like they do at Disney's California Adventure. It's just more fun that way! I'm pretty sure Steve's parents and Aunt have never seen Frozen before but there is one thing they they do love and that is taking pictures so they were game!

Sorry I don't have great pictures, I didn't buy the Shutters photo package. It's just way too expensive and I never really loved the cruise photos enough to splurge on even a few. I decided to spend my money on the spa instead. If my sister were here though that would have been the first thing we bought for the cruise, hahaha.

It was so cute, Steve's parents and aunt were all wearing the Disney jackets we got them from Uniqlo for the cruise. They really liked them!

We walked from Animator's back out the the Atrium for a bit before brunch.

Look at this fun artwork!

There wasn't much going on in the Atrium at this time so we just headed to Palo a few minutes early.

Continued in next post since I'm running out of picture room!!!

I really enjoyed breakfast outdoors with the beautiful weather, views, and lots of coffee. :)

Sounds heavenly!

Sorry, I look very unpolished, hahaha.

I think we can forgive this since you're on a cruise! haha

BTW, there are sandals you can use at the spa but they are so uncomfortable! They cut your feet no matter how loose you get them so I just wore my own waterproof flip flops all the time.

Good planning!

When I was done on the loungers we headed into one of the steam rooms. It was pretty big, with tiled benches and hand-held showers so you can use your scrubs and rinse yourself off. Let me tell you, I have never been more exfoliated in my life!

:rotfl2:

The lighting in here seems kinda weird, but your photos still turned out super cute. Love that you can pre-book all these kinds of things.

I could use this kind of relaxation like NOW!! The scrubs sound heavenly. Our honeymoon was 11 years ago, so obviously they've done some adding to the features of the Rain Room. Every time I read this TR it makes me itch to book a cruise!! :)

I take my hat off to you for getting up when you did, especially since you got to bed so late.

We very seldom have breakfast at Cabanas, so your breakfast looks interesting. Was the food hot enough? I always find that once it hits the table it is just lukewarm. :confused3

And guess what ......... we have never ever, in 17 cruises been to the rainforest room on any of the ships. But it really looks very relaxing, so maybe ..... one day ....... we will.

Love that you all took a photo with the Frozen "girls". :thumbsup2

And Palo brunch to top it all off! Looking forward to more yum yum photos.

Day 2 Part 2: Palo Porn

Sorry for my risque title. I'm just telling it like it is. It's Palo brunch time, which means food porn!
I love Palo brunch so much. It's probably one of my favorite things on a Disney cruise!

We checked in and they said it'll be a few minutes. Steve and I walked outside on Deck 10 to take some pictures but it was so sunny and we don't really walk around with our sunglasses while on the ship so we ended up just squinting.

We headed back inside and were shown to our table, it might have been the same table we sat at two years ago! We were offered our choice of drinks - champagne, bellini, or sparkling non alcoholic ciders.

I chose the Bellini, which was lovely, and Steve had the champagne while everyone else who were non-drinkers had the cider. I'm pretty sure Steve's parents think I'm the lush of the family because no one else drinks, not even Steve's two brothers. Oh my sister in law Sandy likes a bit of wine. It's so funny because I'm not really a big drinker to begin with! #amateurlush

Our super awesome server, whose name I forget (argh must write them down next time!), took us around the buffet area to give us an explanation even though we all had been here before, aside from Steve's Aunt. I took these pictures of the buffet areas. I'm warning you...Food Porn ALERT!!

The station in the middle had all the savory courses including meats, seafood, cheeses, and prepared foods.
There were also a separate breads station, and a dessert station.

Which I will go into a bit more later when we get to dessert!

In addition to the buffet section, there is also a printed menu of items you can order. This is slightly different from before where they had standing displays of the food and you kinda just pick from there, maybe they felt like this was a waste of food (I certainly thought so). We ordered various selections off the menu for our table to try. Many of the items listed on the menu were regulars on the Palo menu such as Parmesan-Crusted Chicken, and Tomato Basil soup. One thing I did notice was the absence of the strawberry soup. Our server said that it was no longer on the menu. Boo.

First up, we all went to gorge on the buffet service. This is one of several plates for myself:

Caviar! Crab legs! Seared tuna! Octopus! Shrimp! Cheese! Rice balls! All the good stuff.

I think I must have been into my second plate of appetizers when this little surprise arrived.

OK me and there rest of the table too. But I had one all to myself.

The server had the chef whip some up for me. Because they are awesome like that. The strawberry soup is pretty much like a creamy smoothie. I enjoyed it!
It's slightly less intense than the one at 1900 Park Fare.

Then more magical things landed on our table.

Boy where do we begin?!?

Everything was super delicious!! The flavors of each dish were really nice and balanced- not too in your face, and not under seasoned. It was just right. Sharing is best and we really enjoyed getting a taste of the various items. My favorites were the steak, chicken parm, and the red snapper. The fish was beautifully cooked and the steak was a perfect medium rare. Probably my least favorite was the flatbread pizza. Not that it wasn't good, it was just a boring flatbread, but if you like pizza I suggest you eat up as the pizza from the quick service on deck 9 is nowhere near as good as this one. :)

OK, after we polished off almost everything (I am amazed we did so well, but I'm proud of my extended chunky family!), we could finally focus on dessert.

I don't think you can leave and not have a few Palo chocolate-covered strawberries. They were divine!

There were lots of different mini desserts in individual portions. I loved that!

I think this was some sort of fruit tarts:

It was a lovely dessert spread!

I think we were quite full by the time it came to dessert so we could only get a few each. The tiramisu was very good and I liked the fruity desserts. I did eat two chocolate-covered strawberries too because they are so yummy!

Another fabulous Palo brunch in the books! This is a must-do when on a Disney cruise! And the more people you go with, the better as you can try more dishes and share them. Steve's parents enjoyed themselves, they thought the food was very good. Steve's dad really enjoyed the desserts. I think he definitely has a sweet tooth! Steve's aunt was overwhelmed by all the food, but we all told her this is what it's like on a cruise in America! Haha. I believe the cost is about 30 dollars per person? It's well worth it though! Best 30 bucks I ever spent on a cruise!

I think Steve's dad managed a bordline smile! We're making progress!

Coming up...we eat more food?!? :rotfl:

Sounds heavenly!

It was! I love cruise breakfasts! I never have time to eat a proper breakfast regularly so this is a real treat.

The lighting in here seems kinda weird, but your photos still turned out super cute. Love that you can pre-book all these kinds of things.

It is not good lightening. The blue is good for effect but not for the pictures themselves! It was fun though.

I could use this kind of relaxation like NOW!! The scrubs sound heavenly. Our honeymoon was 11 years ago, so obviously they've done some adding to the features of the Rain Room. Every time I read this TR it makes me itch to book a cruise!! :)

It's amazing! I really wonder why I don't cruise more! I will have to rectify that.

I take my hat off to you for getting up when you did, especially since you got to bed so late.

To be honest I don't sleep that much when in a Disney environment. Just too excited I guess!

We very seldom have breakfast at Cabanas, so your breakfast looks interesting. Was the food hot enough? I always find that once it hits the table it is just lukewarm. :confused3
Cabanas has the most selection and it's pretty quick, so we like it when we don't want to have to wait for some table service. For the most part, the food is mostly hot but yes the longer you take to get food the colder it will get just sitting on your plate by the time you get to your table. I am ok with it though :)

And guess what ......... we have never ever, in 17 cruises been to the rainforest room on any of the ships. But it really looks very relaxing, so maybe ..... one day ....... we will.

What, really? LOL that's so funny. I would have thought you would have done this multiple times. But now that I recall, I don't seem to read this in your cruise TRs.
It's fun if you really just want to lie down and sleep, those heated loungers will just you to nap really quickly. I guess that is where I got my relaxation every day. Plus you can give yourself a scrub. I feel really detoxified by the end of the week. :thumbsup2

Love that you all took a photo with the Frozen "girls". :thumbsup2

And Palo brunch to top it all off! Looking forward to more yum yum photos.

It was a fun morning so far before the food fest begins!
