Enjoying the long term benefits of DVC

Great thread.
Happy to say we purchased WLV in 2006, shortly after our 1st family WDW trip. My DD was 4.
We went multiple times a year for many years not doing many non Disney trips. Started including cruises( non Disney) combined with our Wdw visits.
We have had so many magical memories. My DD learned to swim in the SSR zero entry pool. Thought she would skin her nose for sure:-)

After years of multiple trips per year and in the borrowing mode, we needed a break.

We started to travel the world. We cruised the Med, Baltic’s. Land stays in Italy and Holland. Amazing memories. Which inadvertently Wdw helped with that. We were “used” to high prices LOL with air from Long Island and Wdw so we were “trained” to have expensive vacations lol!!
Alas.... so many new WDW happenings
I can’t wait to go back!!!
Last year DL and Aulani only happened because of DVC.
Finally getting back to WDW in June for my DD sweet 16. We are bringing 3 friends and staying in a 2BR lake view at BLT. Thanks DVC.
And thanks Disney for keeping things fresh which has brought on a whole new level of excitement to go back:-)

OK I was completely with you until this part:earboy2:
LOL! Ooops, sorry to lose you.
Thankfully I'm still a bendy-twisty person ... yoga and playing with horses help.

In all honesty, I remained cross-legged throughout the entire show but will admit that my right foot fell asleep just at the point when Tangled float went by. From that moment on ... I was hunting for the end but trying to remain still so as to not disturb others around me.

We were seated at the fence, just left of show center for the first viewing. Great spot! A little wet though ;)

Ah, we were up on the bridge over the PotC queue. I was right at the rail with perfect line of sight and not in danger of getting wet. ;)

We will be flying to WDW with my 10 month old in a week, which will be my first visit with a child of my own, and I was looking for something to build my excitement (like I needed anything) and stumbled across this thread. I guess my username says it all. I’ve told the story before on the boards, but I’ll say it again. I remember visiting the magic kingdom in the early 80s as a kid and riding the monorail through the Contemporary and saying I want to live here when I grow up. For me, DVC is the closest thing to realizing a childhood dream that I can share with my current and future family and friends. Luckily, I married someone whose retirement plan/dream includes being a greeter on Main Street and wishing everyone to have a magical day. We will definitely be one of those older couples sitting on the bench keeping the magic alive for as long as we can.

We're brand new DVC owners. We went to WDW for the first time in January and did the DVC "tour". I came home, did some online research, and made an offer on a loaded BLT contract soon after.

Now I'm planning our first DVC family vacation for eight. Instead of value rooms at value resort, it will be a 2BR villa at BLT 12/27/18-1/5/19. I can already tell this is the first of many wonderful trips.

The rest of the family are much more into Disney than me. For me it's all about making memories with the family. WDW is certainly a great place to do that. Now I'm thinking of buying into OKW so we can have summer vacation trips too.

It's good to hear your accounts of DVC over the years. I'm looking forward to contributing to a thread like this in ten or twenty years.

We love all things Disney. We love the World. Without DVC we would still go from time to time, however, just not multiple times each year. Without DVC, we would have never discovered HHI.

We joined 4 years ago and have been to 2 Halloweens and 2 early Dec.'s with the kids and my wife and I went last Feb. for a few days because some points were expiring. It was different but nice.
We are going again in Feb. 18 just because. Staying at Grand Floridian which will be a first.

When people are freaking out about when free dining will come out or when a room only discount will come out, I appreciate my DVC. My room is booked, no worrying about dates or % off.

My husband and I are (were) workaholics. We knew early on that we needed to do something to somewhat "force" a family vacation each year. Initially bought into the original Disney Vacation Club Resort (aka Old Key West) in '92. Our twins were 4 yrs old at the time. It has given us years of wonderful family vacations. And now we are one of those older couples walking arm in arm still enjoying Disney.

This is why I bought.

We bought DVC in 2011. Our home resident is Disney Aulani. We are Oahu residents. If we cannot travel to the mainland, we have weekend staycations at Aulani. We celebrated our Anniversary and our boys birthday at Disney Aulani. We also rented the studio to family and friends.

Our 1st family WDW trip in 2012. Our first RCI trade in July 2017 - New York City. We are planning a Tokyo Disneyland trip in July 2018.

DH and I became DVC members in 2008 after several Disney trips both with the two of us and sometimes with children and grandchildren. DVC has been a wonderful blessing in so many ways. It has allowed us to continue to visit Disney on our own terms and at our own pace since we are now one of those older couples strolling along hand in hand. We continue to visit as a solo couple at times as well as with family. We find much happiness in having many more trips to plan and memories to make thanks to DVC. When the time comes, it is a legacy we will pass to our children, grandchildren, and hopefully great grandchildren to continue enjoying since our DVC will continue for another 40 years.

We got married last year and honeymooned in WDW for two weeks. It was the first ever trip to WDW for both of us but we’re Disneyland locals and figured it was a safe bet.

Though I’d grown up traveling extensively domestically and internationally, but DH hadn’t ever really traveled and was wary of traveling internationally.

I’m a planner/researcher and so we rented DVC points at three different resorts for our honeymoon. We were both instantly hooked. We bought DVC eight months later and have already been back once, with a trip planned next May with three of our friends. Our families don’t get it, and our friends only sort of do, but they love us and love to see what makes us so excited!

That trip also sparked DH’s wanderlust bug. We’re headed to Costa Rica in a week and he can’t wait to see the world.

As our family grows DVC will be there. Sure, we’ll also camp, and road trip, and see places of cultural/historical importantance around the world. But we’ll always know there’s a vacation destination that will be waiting to say, “Welcome Home”.
