What to do with an old iPhone?

Target is running a special for BF where you get a hefty Target GC with a purchase on a new iPhone 8. So I am thinking about it, but what do I do with my old 6? I have always purchased from Verizon where they buy back my old one. And my DD is not old enough for a phone yet.

The Women's Shelter for victims of domestic violence here takes them. They give them to women who are at risk. Even if the phones are not activated, they can call 9-1-1 from it.
I am assuming you are not looking to sell it.

Pass down to my kids, sell or donate to the woman’s shelter. Whatever you do, make sure (after transferring/making a back up) you wipe the phone to factory settings and log out of your iCloud account.

iPhone 6 still has great resale value. I'd sell it and put the $$ towards your next Disney trip :)

Let your kid use it as an ipod - save it for when she's old enough for a phone - save it for when you accidentally break your new phone - donate it - or sell it on gazelle, craigslist or ebay - an iphone 6 could get you 150-200 depending on condition and memory amount.

I sell my old electronics back to Amazon, they give you Amazon credit. Or, use it as an iPod. I use an old iPod touch to play music at work so I'm not constantly draining my battery. When my old iPod dies, I'll just use an old iPhone.

I sold my older mobile phone on a FB buy and sell page.
Just make sure you do manufacturer reset so none of your info is on it.

I also have a really old one which I use as a back-up camera if I'm going to be outside in bad weather. That way I won't miss a photo, but my regular phone won't get wet.

Shoot, this just made me aware of a less than brilliant move on my part. I gave it to my 4 year old DGD so she could take pics and play music. I didn't restore/wipe so she could see the existing pics. Of course she lost it :(

We give them to our kids. They could use as an ipod when they were little and now that they are tweens, I get them Tracfone pre-paid cards and that way they can contact me after school. My DD has an iphone 4S and it works just fine! She has free apps, can imessage, and can call. My DS has an iphone 5S and is vying fro my iphone 6, which is working just fine so I haven't upgraded yet. They listen to Spotify and Pandora. They watch YouTube videos. They take pictures. They imessage/facetime with their friends. It's great!

If you are like me, I hang onto my old phones in case I break mine. As others have said, they also can be used as an iPod. I do like the donation idea, too

Just be sure to scrub your internet history. You don't want the person getting your phone to find out which "private" websites you've gone to.

Ive got some phones Id like to get rid of---a few of them are older flip phones

how do you get the phone back to manufacturers setting--where none of your info is on the phone any longer

thanks

If it's really leaving your house as a chunk of plastic and metal, PLEASE recycle it!!! Many zoos have collection boxes, some phone stores do too! Look it up :)

You can usually find it in settings, even in the old flip phones.

I donated old cell phones to a day care
Took the battery out
Not phones with glass fronts - really old cell phones
They can not turn them on

Great to hear the conversations the kids use when they are playing with the old flip cell phones :)

You can keep it for yourself or give it to your daughter to use as a wifi only device. I have my old iphone permanently living in an ihome and use it to just listen to music. My husband keeps one of his old (Android) phones to just play a couple games that don't require any cellular or wifi connection.
