Ticket Price increase

I was on Undercovertourist the other day and noticed that they have something posted about prices increasing and if you wanted 2017 pricing to get them soon. I went over to the Universal Orlando page and their current prices are better then undercover tourist. I got a great deal on 2 park - 5 day tickets. If you are planning on going within a year, I would advise to get tickets sooner rather then later.

For anyone comparing prices between Universal and Undercover Tourist, make sure you are comparing apples to apples - Universal doesn’t include tax on their tickets until checkout and Undercover Tourist includes tax in the price you see although there is a button you can check to show pre tax prices which makes comparing tickets easier.

I bought my ticket for our March trip today and saved over $35 on on 3 x 3 park/4 day tickets through Undercover Tourist. Glad I was able to get them before a price increase!

My ap usually increases about this time each year but have not received my renewal email yet

When tickets increase, ap usually also goes up

My family is going this April and are getting Preferred APs. I was going to wait a couple months to buy the AP, but if rates are about to go up it sounds like I should jump and buy now.

Does anyone know when APs increased in price last year?

I could be wrong but thought it was December (13 months back) when ticket prices went up

Then ap increase followed

I have been renewing since 1994 and the dates of increase blur together for me

Used to be ap renewals did not go up same time as tickets
Then that changed..

They let you renew 30 days in advance, so I played it safe and renewed both of ours in early Jan, 30 days before expiration. Don't hold me to this, but I thought I read on boards that there was a price increase in Feb last year?

I can’t remember ticket price jump but will search the older threads to try and find it

When Disney increases ticket prices, UO usually follows

My ap renewals were basic and small increase until Volcano Bay was opened

A person can do the two park or three park aps now

I stayed with the 2 park ap

It depends how often you go to Universal.

If you renew, you keep the same expiration date. If you allow your AP to lapse, your new expiration/renewal date will be based on the date of your new ticket. If you won't be returning for a few months, then letting it lapse may make more sense, even if you risk a price increase.

Also, if you renew but for some reason you lost your plastic ticket, you'll have to pay $10 for a replacement. If your AP lapses, a new plastic card is included.
I didn't keep notes on Universal, but I have it in my notes that WDW ticket prices went up on February 12, 2017.

Good advice. Did something similar with our WDW passes - we're not visiting again till Dec, so actually bought new passes with an open expiration date vs renewing existing ones. This way, I beat their inevitable price 2018 increase, but don't waste the first few months of the pass.

We're visiting Uni a couple of days after our passes would have expired, so made sense to renew. Thanks for mentioning the $10 charge though - WDW just gives you new ones. I'm glad I didn't toss current cards, expecting the same policy.

Uni is really strange - they don't send a confirmation email after you buy or list anywhere on the site that you renewed. I basically spent $600+ and had nothing in writing to show for it. I asked if there was anything they could send me and they just said to check my credit card statement for the charge.

Is this new that no emails are being sent out when you make a purchase online ?

Last August I ordered hhn tickets and a couple of tours booked

Within hours I was sent confirmation emails of the transaction and order numbers

I’m renewing my ap next month and just assumed they would send out confirmation

But if they don’t, not a problem since I read here about the change

I'm sure I know this really but, just to double check, I can buy an AP now and activate it next January, right?

I believe you have one year to activate, but I would double check on this as the rules tend to change pretty often.

If you purchase online there would be the usual paper trail I'd think? It's how i typically roll :)

Do Uni tickets have expiration dates like WDW? I cannot decide if are definitely going to Uni next trip but am considering buying tickets before the increase.

That's how I wanted to renew too, but tried several times. Kept getting an error screen saying it didn't recognize the number, so had to call in. Phone rep said they had nothing they could provide me to document the purchase, other than checking my cc statement for the charge. I'm fine with it - called back and another rep verified all was good. Just thought it was a little strange.
