Toiletry Dispensers Being Installed at Disney’s Pop Century Resort

Well for those inquiring minds ................... it will be absolutely no problem for someone to remove the bottles either to empty them out or to refill them with ......... something else ...... we did neither. They are as we found them.

[NOTE: We will not be using these, and brought our own soap and shampoo with us.]

That's very interesting. The lock on the bar holding the bottles in presented no problem?

It's not a lock, it's no different that the outside of a bedroom door knob. Turn it and it popped right open.

They did this years ago at the all stars. This looks much better than what was at the all stars. I didn't like it then and not happy they are trying it again. Just looks like another way of taking things away and calling it environmentally friendly. They keep raising prices and taking things away.

yep poisoning soap bottles is going to be the next big thing when the fun of eating tide pods wears off. People worry way too much about stuff that’s just not going to happen. If you are a paranoid person bring your own stuff. Between the paranoia about this and employees breaking the bolt on hotel doors and barging into your hotel room maybe Disney won’t be so crowded when I go.

They aren't taking anything away, its still being provided for guests to use if they choose. Taking away would be no more soap period.

I agree. People are acting ridiculous. Don't want to use simple bring your own. The vast majority of guests most likely won't care.

Do we know if these bottles are refillable or are one use only and then the whole bottle and pump are replaced? Refillable means more environmentally friendly obviously, but single use means more sanitary. I don't mean that the bottles are replaced between guests, but just that once the bottle is empty it is replaced and not refilled. I assumed they are not refillable, that would take way too much housekeeper time. Do we know about the pumps? Are they replaced with the bottles?

I personally don't have a problem with this program, except for not getting to take my souvenir toiletries home with me. If people start to have problems with infection or tampering I assume Disney will move quickly, their team of lawyers and publicists wouldn't like to deal with that kind of backlash.

I love that people are worried about people putting stuff in the bottles. While an understandable concern, pretty much every cruise line has used a similar system for decades and there has never seemed to be a problem. I’m surprised most hotels haven’t switched to this a long time ago.

Most of them haven't switched because their guests think they look tacky and cheap.

From what I understand the bottles are single use and will be replaced. I don't know if the pumps will be replaced or are reused.

I think they look much less tacky and cheap than tiny thin plastic bottles that are empty after two uses. I also don't let myself worry too much about germs in one of the most public and crowded places in the country. Then again, I ride the NYC subway so a germaphobe I am not.

The pumps look metal in that picture so the plan surely must be to pop it into a fresh bottle when the previous bottle is empty.

We stayed at three hotels this past summer in the Jackson Wy and Yellowstone area that had big refillable dispensers. They were not cheap hotels. It never crossed my mind to be concerned about it. I believe the intent was to cut down on waste (and yes, probably save money).

You mean you don't think someone is going to buy some Nair and sneak it into the shampoo and conditioner bottles? :upsidedow

We travel lots for our kids's hockey and I've stayed in plenty of hotels that have dispensers similar to these. I used them and never gave it a second thought and I won't here either. I'm happy not to have to worry about bringing my own stuff.

I use these type of dispensers when i shower at my “fancy” gym/spa. It’s only after i work out and then use the sauna and steam room and want to shower before my massage. I’ve never given it a second thought.

Now while at WDW i bring my own toiletries. I’m pretty particular about my products and for over a week i need my regular stuff. I’ll use the stuff at the spa for one day because I’ll shower again when i get home.

I honestly don’t know anyone in real life that doesn’t take their own toiletries on vacation. Or buy them when they get there.
