Lunch at Hollywood Studios

Where is your favorite place to eat lunch at HS and why? It can be counter service or table service. I'm just working on plans, and I have a difficult time deciding on food here. We are a party of 5 (two adults and three "kids" ages 19 and 13).

My extended family (including my kids) love Sci-Fi. The atmosphere is fantastic, and burgers and shakes are very good. We also enjoy 50s Prime Time, though we split entrees as the portions are huge.

We're not fans of most QS places in HS, but don't mind a snack or meal at Pizza Rizzo (formerly Pizza Planet). It's not great amazing fantastic pizza, but has decent food with cold beer. A bonus is its often not as crowded as other QS venues given its location, which means we snag a seat under and umbrella outside, which we enjoy.

One chilly day complete with rain and wind 2 of our party ate @ the Commissary on a get out of the weather whim.
One had the rib and chicken platter and pronounced the chicken good but the ribs not so much. Her problem with the ribs were they were too wet as she prefers dry rub. She enjoyed all her sides.
The man had a salmon dish with veggies and rice(?) and said it was fine for what it was. When questioned about the salmon (I wasn't hungry so did no tasting) he said it was cooked and seasoned the same way Appleby's is. A look passed between the 2 eaters as they realised their secret was out but but I was too sick to launch into my "Whyyyy are you feeding my DGD fast food tirade?!":lmao:

I think it was a fair amount of food for a QS

We've also eaten at All American Cafe and Catalina Eddie's:typical park food. Burgers, served with a nice amount toppings; pizza, and salads. I had the Cesar salad and it hit the spot. DGD ordered the pizza but didn't like it so ordered a burger after seeing what her grandfather's looked like.

Brown Derby has a nice relaxing lunch that allows you to recharge with A/C and plush seats. I hope they have the corn soup next time I return as it was off menu at Christmas time. I no longer recall everything that others had (one had a chicken sandwich) but everyone pronounced it a lunch worthy of a return.

We love the atmosphere at Sci-Fi. So much fun. Good burgers and shakes here! Our other choice is 50's Prime Time- fried chicken and PB&J shakes- yum! We like getting a tv table at 50's and the service is usually entertaining! We like Mama Melrose too, but prefer Sci-Fi and 50's. We are eating lunch at both of these places on our next trip.

We are big fans of the Sci-Fi and have ate here many times. The food is always good and the service excellent. The atmosphere is absolutely one of the best of the WDW restaurants. I love how my daughters, ages 31 and 28, still love to sit in the back seat of the car with Mom and Dad up front, watching and laughing at those old cartoons and movies. Great memories.

50's Prime Time Cafe: Good food (great fried chicken dinner). You get plenty to eat. You won't leave there hungry. We enjoy the Sci-Fi as well, but mostly for the atmosphere. We find the food there to be very average. Fun atmosphere with average food.

Both 50's and SciFi have great food and are a ton of fun. Especially at SciFi the food isn't that much more than table service and the quality is exponentially better. With "kids" your age I'd say they would like either, just look at the menus to see which would be more appealing.

If you are willing to spend the money, HBD has the best food in DHS, IMHO. After eating in all of the restaurants in DHS, that's our go-to.

Another vote for Sci-Fi. The atmosphere is fun and the food is yummy! We're not fans of 50's prime time. We didn't like the food there. The atmosphere was fun but that's about it.

I like the Brown Derby patio when the weather is nice. Their Cobb Salad and a glass of wine is perfect on a nice day. For quick Service, I am partial to Backlot Express for the Caprese Sandwich and the refillable soda fountain.

We always eat lunch at Sci-Fi... it's a "must do" for my family. :-) Since we are going in August this year, I think the nice, cool atmosphere will be a welcoming sight and break in the middle of the day!

We usually do lunch at Mama Melrose. We get a salad and a flatbread or 2 ( depending on how hungry wevare, evening dinner plans etc. ). Add in the rolls and the canolies for dessert & we are good
