April 2018 Car Rental Watch

Here's the codes that I use. The AP Alamo discount seems to have been cut quite a bit this year.

Alamo Codes
7015504 visa
7013993 mastercard
7015071 wyndam rewards
7016164 wyndam summer offer ?

Alamo coupons
AD3868JST carrentalsavers $25
AD2823JAZ $25
AD8698SDF $25 (mastercard only?)

Budget
BCD: X443000
Coupon: MUGZ094

I've also got contract codes 7016220 Visit Orlando and 15000 Annual Pass.

I tried them all and the Wyndham was the best-nearly $30 less than AP. I used AD2823JAZ coupon.

I got premium car 1 week plus 2 hours May 2-9 (didn't see May thread) for $264.

Let me try that one. I used autoslash on got a small car from payless for $253 for the 10 days. I had one with Advantage car rental for less but after reading their reviews on Yelp. I cancelled, It was enough to make me run.

I am trying to book Alamo with Wyndham and it won't take the code. Let me keep trying. Did the price come out less?

Is a physical coupon or a membership required for the Budget BCD and coupon? This combination is giving me the best rate that I can find at the moment.

ETA: Nevermind, I forgot Budget was showing the price before taxes and fees; not the best deal by a long shot...

Never ever at any agency needed to produce membership or physical coupon, and I've used some really shaddy deals in the past. I just used that combination at Budget with no issues at all. Even used Budget Fastbreak to avoid the counter and went to the shack in the garage. Vehicle was waiting and no one in line with me. Easy!

Alamo through Costco is CHEAP today! My rental dropped $101 for 4/10-17 through Costco today!

Are most you renting staying offsite? Just curious with new parking fees.

We are staying on site but we always rent a car. We have nothing but bad experiences with ME. We are DVC so we are exempt from the parking fees but this is going to be our last trip for a long while. We are letting our AP's expire and are just generally done with Disney.

We used to always rent cars. We took a 4 year break, and went back last year. We used the buses. I just couldn't get the car rental rate I wanted. We took Uber from MCO. It think it was around 40.00 dollars...not too bad. There's no way I'd rent a car and pay the current parking fee. We're going back in August. I think were exempt because we booked months ago. Since I'm not sure they won't screw up and charge me we'll probably just forego the car again.

Anyone have recent success bidding on a car rental through priceline? I noticed that one of their agencies is Sixt which is a shuttle ride from the airport. I have a midsize currently booked for $231 all in but last year, same week (Easter week last year actually) I was able to get it for nearly $100 less. Curious about Priceline or other options. Prefer to pay at counter incase something comes up.

Yes! we just saved $60 on a full size SUV for 6/13 through 6/20 by searching Costco...both Budget and Avis through Costco were $60 lower than our current reservation with Sixt. So we switched.

Ours just dropped $24 through Costco for the last week of April. Hoping that this is the start of prices dropping, I'd like to get down below $150 for our 9 days.

I found a huge difference in my price yesterday. I had been going to alamo using ebates for cash back, then putting in the $25 coupon and the costco contract ID. But....when I went directly to costco travel, there was a difference in price. It went from $218ish to $185 by going directly to costco. I got a regular SUV instead of a camry.

Finally! Some price drops for my rental period of 4/18 or 4/21 to 5/1.

I have 2 rentals secured at the moment:
One from the airport at $350 for 13 days (Alamo thru Costco)
One from Hard Rock at $312 for 10 days and I won't have to pay the $66 in parking at HRH but have to pay Uber ~$30. (HRH Avis thru Costco)

I am still trying to decide if ~$75 is worth not having the flexibility and freedom of having the car for my first 3 days

I used to be the same way, but over the years I have decided that my time is worth something and for me it's worth more than $75. Another way I justify paying the higher cost is at the airport I will most likely have a large variety of vehicles to choose from which I always find kind of fun. :p

Yep, I got in on the Costco drop this morning. April 21-26. Had an intermediate car (Jetta) through Budget for $178 and was able to upgrade to an intermediate SUV through Alamo for a few dollars more.

we booked with Priceline but didn't bid. Got Hertz April 6-20 for $288. All in. That is Canadian funds so it would be less for US. Full size.

My Costco dropped $74 today, Alamo, Mid SUV, April 22-29. Now $183. Yay. Doing a split, Universal and WDW, so this is nice. I use the Costco travel site, it is easy to cancel thru there. Then I use confirmation to get into the reservation on the Alamo site and check in.

Is there any issue with getting the direct to car option through Alamo's site when booked through Costco? I usually use my Costco codes directly on the Alamo site but the Costco website was a few dollars cheaper this time.

No, I did online check in for Alamo back in January with a Costco reservation and everything was fine. I think when I checked in my price increased by like $1 but it was somewhere in the taxes not the rental rate.
