we just home yesterday, my husband wears leg braces, they will ask if you can walk without it,, when you say no, they will tell you go through the doors, and wand you down. You can print of a card from the TSA website , fill it out with why , what etc is your issue and hand it to them before you go through,, some people dont want the world to know what their ailment is, you can also ask to be screened in a more private area,, this will all prolong your time in the checkpoints.. another thing. you can ask for a wheelchair assist getting you through security and to your gate.. this will not mean you wont go through the same checks that everyone else does, but you will have someone helping you . on our way out last week , it took nearly an hour through security as we had liquids etc, on our way back , we still had to have all our bags opened and inspected, but it was a lot less time due to no liquids,,
oh and I dont know if this is ALL airlines , but Alaska is requesting that as well as laptops, 3oz fluids ect are taken out of your bags. they also want any food products,, especially the large bags of candy .
hope you have a great trip.
