We have a flight home at 7:45 pm. We will be using ME so I know our pick up time will be around 4:45. We are planning to spend the day at the resort. I know check out is 11 am. Do they ever allow late check out? If not, where can we leave our luggage? Can we leave luggage at the resort if we head to Disney Springs for a while? Are there showers or changing rooms near the pool if we decide to go that route? Thanks for your help!

AFAIK, DVC does not allow late check outs - resorts are almost always booked to capacity and it takes longer to prepare a villa for the next guest than it does a hotel room.

You can leave your luggage with Bell Services. Be sure to pick it up and be at the ME bus stop 5-10 minutes before your scheduled departure. (The time on your letter is supposed to be the time the bus leaves the resort).

You didn't mention the specific resort, so all I can say is that most resorts (probably all of them) have bathrooms/changing areas near the pool(s). If you specify the resort, someone will be able to confirm that for you.

Most of the time housekeepers will knock on your door before 11 AM...we usually try to be out before 9 AM. All resorts will keep your bags at bell services until you pick them up later in the day.

As of right now we are spending our last night at Polynesian but I have a waitlist for Boardwalk.
Thanks for the info. Its all about what I expected.

But we don't HAVE to leave until 11, right? Especially if we don't have anywhere in particular to be.

Depending on what airline you're flying with, you could also utilize the Resort Airline Check-In Service. We've used it before and it was very convenient. You can utilize it until a certain time (I think it is noon but you may want to double check) and there's a desk in the lobby area where you can drop off your bags as well as check in and collect your boarding passes. I believe you need to make sure you've paid your baggage fees in advance. They will transport your bags to the airport for you and onto your flight, so no need to pick them up until you get to your destination.

If you have carry-on luggage you don't want to deal with for the day, you can leave that with Bell Services and just pick up before your DME time.

Last trip, we left the room at 11:00 a.m. I don't recall anyone knocking on my door. We left our bags with bell services and went to Disney Springs for lunch. It was a nice, relaxing day.

Correct but be prepared for housekeeping to start knocking at around 8am. Always happens to us on check out day. And I just tell them what time we plan to leave.
It’s been many years since we’ve had housekeeping knocking on our door on our departure day, and we always leave the room close to 11 am. I usually put the “Room Occupied” (or the old “Privacy Please”) sign on the door. If a housekeeper were to knock, we would simply tell them we’ll be leaving the room close to 11 am.

Online check-in now asks when you plan to depart. Maybe that will help with housekeeping bothering you. But if you do leave before your expected departure call housekeeping and let them know the room is vacant.

If you can swing it, I recommend booking a cabana for that day. It will give you a designated space by the pool with shade and seating. We did this once at BLT (booked a cabana at the Contemporary pool) and it worked out wonderfully.

What we do is usually depart the room at 11am and get our checked luggage to the resort airline check in so we don't have to deal with that. It leaves us with whatever we are carrying on. If necessary we would leave that with Bell services if it was more than we wanted with us. Most resorts have some place to shower and change if you're going to hang out at the pool.

Someone I work with usually books a late flight out the day they leave but they just book the day they leave as another night on their ressie. This way
they have the full day use of their villa and can do what they want during the day, get dressed, eat, etc., and leave.

We do this every year.
On lat day we usually have a 7 PM flight.
We most often sit by the pool.
BWV has a very nice health club where we shower and change.

We check our luggage at resort check in and leave a change of clothes in out carry on.

We take whatt ever snacks and drinks left over and take to the pool.

I have many times given a six pack to f beer to a fellow DVC Er's prior to leaving.

The biggest challenge is to not get too comfortable and risk missing a flight.!

Unless something has recently changed, they've been doing the DME pickups FOUR hours before departure due to the awful security performance at MCO. You can ask for an update upon arrival at the resort but 3:45 is a more likely pickup time.

We are doing that at the Polynesian on our check-out day in July. We plan to leave around 3:00 pm, so we rented a half-day cabana from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, giving us a home base. We will leave our luggage with bell services.

They went back to the 3 hour schedule after the holidays.

we do this frequently.....pack everything up, and have bell services come get your bags. Keep a small bag with you and go hang out at the pool. when it comes time to get ready, do so, then go pull your bags from bell services and be off....pretty simple actually.

With that late of a departure it is very simple to store your bags with bell services. Personally if i had that much time i would just add on another park day so that you could get 3 more FP. But DS is an option if you just want to get up late and head to DS for some lunch and shopping -- just be mindful of what you buy and if you can fit it in your luggage.
