Would you take the Disney bus or Uber from POFQ to AK?

We need to be at Animal Kingdom park by 8:15 for a tour.
Which would you choose and how early should we leave for the bus or Uber?

Depends on what time the park opens but I'd take the bus at least 1 1/2 before park opens or your reservation, whichever is earlier.

Uber

Only because there are SOOO many lights for AK. It's just you. You'll won't have to wait for guest leaving and boarding.

Maybe a Minnie van if available and you have a large entourage? I really don't know their hours, but if I would feel more comfortable taking a Minnie van than an Uber. A bus would too much of a gamble for me.

I'd aim for the bus @ 7 and have a back up planned if it didn't leave on time.

Get up early and take the 7 AM bus. Private cars could get stuck at a late opening toll plaza at the Animal Kingdom entrance.

Keep in mind too that if you choose the bus, there's a possibility the bus will stop at Riverside before continuing on to Animal Kingdom, and you'll have to wait for an additional four stops at Riverside bus depots. That will add more time to an already long bus ride.

We Uber to AK most every time. Unless there just happens to be a bus at the stop as we walk up. The AK Uber drop off it right at the front, the best of all the parks

We haven't had a bus stop at POR from FQ in the mornings in 2 years of staying at FQ. Maybe in the afternoons when it's not busy but even then it's very rare. Only time we've had them share was coming home after EMH

Except they don't close the toll plazas. They are always open. They only man them for certain hours. When people came in last summer for early entry hours they often arrived before they manned the booths and they just drove right in. There are no "bars or barriers" to keep cars out.

What time would you get the Uber to be at the gate by 8:15?

7:45 would be plenty of time. When we went for opening of Pandora we only left CBR 30 min before the park opened and we still had no problems being there in time to make it for opening
Which is another reason why we often opt to do Uber in the mornings.
With the buses you never know what time they'll run which means you need to be up and ready at least an hour, better 90 min, before you need to be somewhere, to give yourself wait time wiggle room.
I'll pay the Uber fee to be in control of my pick up time so I get to sleep that extra 30 to 45 min. Because there's no time at which 7:45 is enough time with the bus
But also, we don't have bags, so we don't need to work in time for bag check either.
