Where are the August 2018 Folks? August TR thread.

Well Completed day one at MK today. Started with Haunted Mansion, Lunch at the market area in Liberty Square. The hotdog was actually pretty good.
Then on to Pirates. First time I have seen the new Auction. DW and I like the old one better. Then the Jungle Cruise, Country bears, and taking some breaks. Ended up heading back to Liberty Square just as storm came in. We weather the storm on a bench behind Ye Old Christmas Shop until time for our ADR at Liberty Tree. After dinner we we both pretty worn out (and very full) so we headed back the Fort. While we heading back we kept hearing the crowd oooh and ahhh, and the realized they were ooohing and ahhhing over the lightning in sky.

We got back to Fort and latter heard the MK fireworks so I guess they had them eventually.

After Trails End last night, and Liberty Tree tonight. I don't think I'm going eat again this trip. I am stuffed.

Tomorrow is HS

Paul until after New Years Day we are planning to do more Decoration Touring than Attractions in our Park Touring We'll make our 3 FP's for days we are in Parks. Beyond that we will enjoy the Holiday Decor till things settle down some

Glad to hear it was good trip!

We just back home this morning. Our trip was good as well. I'll post some pics and details once I get them all sorted out.

Ok First part of the post trip report.

We did stay split the trip on the way to Disney and stayed the first night at Eagles Roost. It seems like a good place, but we were there only for night, and I hope they have better sites for those staying longer. The sights are real close. The electrical and sewer hookups for the site next us were right in the 'yard' of our site.

Here's were we were getting ready to leave Saturday Morning. You can see how close the sites are.

We arrived at the fort and got our site there. It was good one. Here is the pictures of the 'yard' for our site.

DW was concerned about alligators in the canal coming up into campsite to get us. Didn't see any though. But I think we swept a beach full of sand out the RV by the end of the trip.

The First day (Sunday) was MK. We have been this time of the year several time, but I think this is first time I have seen the MK Halloween Decorations. I don't know if they started earlier this year, or if it's because this year was a almost a week later than normal.

Any way I'll leave this bit of the trip with one more picture.

I'll post more as I go through them, and more about the rest of the trip.

The MNSSHP dates have been creeping earlier and earlier the last couple of years. As recently as 2015 (I believe) the party didn't start until the end of September. In 2016 it moved to the beginning of September. Last year it made the move into August (25th I believe), but this year it is a full week earlier than that.

For a number of years they have been doing an overnight shift from Halloween to Christmas at MK. If this keeps up, they will be doing the same overnight shift from Christmas back to Halloween in January!

Ok now for HS day.

Our first fast pass was the Alien Swirling Saucers, we made thanks to the 15 minute grace. When we got to the Outpost bus stop the TV that has the next bus times simply said "Every 20 Minutes" for HS. 10 minutes later it finally showed a time of 15 more minutes. That later changed to 10 minutes later than the previous time. So it was a long wait for the bus to HS. Still we had time, but it would be tight. When we arrived at HS we were introduced to the new temporary bus location. It's almost to Buena Vista, in the area of the farthest parking area, but there is no tram to take you to front. (not sure if there is still is for the parking lots). No shade along the walk either.

Anyway we made into HS, and then around into Toy Story Land. DW is huge Toy Story Fan so I figured she would love it, and she might have if the walk in the heat had not been so long. We got in the line for the Alien Spin and the DW cane fell and piece broke off. It's one of the one the Carvers in AK and Epcot do. A piece of the Animal's leg broke off, but it was still usable. The Alien Swirling Saucers is pretty cute, and targeted at younger kids. After the long walk there, and everything else we were hot a tired. So we asked a CM if there was an indoor place to sit, or a shaded place. CM suggested the restrooms, and said the nearest place to cool off would be One Man's Dream. So we headed to One Man's Dream and never went back to Toy Story Land. I was bummed that it wasn't enjoyable for the DW. We'll try again in December.

While the DW rested I went get us some cold drinks, and was stopped by the best thing at HS.

The March of the First Order!

After Cooling down we headed to Rosies/Eddies to get something to eat and for Beauty and Beast. After that was Star Tours and Muppets. They have changed the Muppet Courtyard. Where it used to walled off by the Streets of America it's now open. There is still some Streets of America buildings in the area, but it took a bit to get used to it.

About this time we had decided we had enough for the day, so we took the trek back to buses. Ft. Wilderness is the farthest, at the very end. I guess they think Fort Folks are used to walking.

Here's a shot from the bus stop. It's about halfway from the Park Entrance to Boardwalk. You could also see the Swan, and Spaceship Earth.

We got back to fort and apparently there had not been a HS bus in while, We overheard one CMs that work with buses saying it had been over 45 minutes for HS bus, so they had changed a AK bus to HS. Glad we home.

Dinner that night was PJ's Chicken, I had a Davey's Lemonade while I waited for the Chicken. Then we went to the marina to water the water paradeParade.jpg

After PJ's and the Parade All I can say is "All's well that end's well".

So I made it home late on Monday August 20th. August 21st was clean up (un pack, laundry, etc...) Still haven't gotten through all the pictures..... Back to work on Wednesday August 22. Since we were gone, we had lots of rain, which meant lots of grass growing. So Saturday (early) was me working in the yard most of the day. No real issues, except for in the early evening...... I ended up having to go to the hospital. Turns out I had a heart attack. (Hereditary was a big factor apparently). I didn't know what was happening as the pain wasn't classic like they always tell you. While I did have chest pain it was more like a giant gas bubble pushing out, than a crushing pain.

Anyway, I spent a few days in the hospital. A few Stents, and I am not back at home. Maybe now, I have time to update my Post TR since I am not allowed to do much else at this time. (at least for the next couple of weeks).

While we (Me, DW, Family, etc...) are glad I am doing better, we are VERY glad that this didn't happen the week before down at Disney. That would be a real Disney Downer for anyone, plus DW still isn't comfortable driving the TT behind the truck.

So I am on the mends, and hope to have a full recovery and back to doing the things I need to do, I just now need to do them differently I guess (Eating better, exercising more, and I suppose listening to the DW more too. :D )

Hopefully more to follow as I am now going through TONS of photos.

Holy Cow, Paul!

Glad you are doing OK. And I'm with you on the timing. Better after than before a Disney trip. If they haven't scheduled you for cardiac rehab, push your doc for it... and go and listen to them. It will pay off in years to come.
