Sharks Underwater Grill - How long to allow?

My family is going to SeaWorld for a day this October, and the only thing my 10yo son wants to do is eat at Sharks Underwater Grill, so we are eating there for lunch. The park hours the day we are visiting are 9 AM to 7 PM.

Can anyone give me an idea how fast service is at Sharks? I'm trying to plan the day, and prioritize things to do, but I can only guess at how long to allow for this meal. The lack of reliable info is very frustrating for an overplanner used to Disney World.

I haven't eaten at Sharks myself (one of the few.....if not maybe the only?.....places in the park that I haven't had a meal) but October is generally not a crazy busy time to visit, unless your planned day falls on a weekend (when the Spooktacular event is happening and crowds tend to be a little thicker). If you are visiting on a weekday, I'd say you could expect service speed to be typical of most sit-down restaurants and plan accordingly. I'd allow at least an hour (but more realistically, 90 minutes or so) to allow for you to order, eat and enjoy your food without being rushed.

If your son is a fan of sharks, may I suggest you consider adding on the Sharks Up Close Tour:

SeaWorld tours are super fun, and this one is very reasonably priced at $15 per person.

Also, plan to get your family's photo taken at the magic shot station inside Shark Encounter (just don't wear green clothing that day, as that kiosk uses a green screen). One of the pictures is inside a shark jaw:

Edited to add.....I see this was your first post. A big :welcome: to the Dis!

Thanks for your response. We are going on a Sunday. I think I've tentatively planned 90 minutes; that's a big block in the middle of the day just for a meal, but it's my son's one Must Do.

Yes, this is my first post, but I've been browsing the DIS forums for probably 5 years, as a part of planning other Orlando trips. This is the first time I couldn't find an answer!

I'm saying about an hour. I don't remember how long, but around an hour or so was what I thought we did when we ate dinner there on Christmas a few years ago. We thought the food and service were very good.

How do the reservations work here - do you need to be exactly on time? How do you cancel or move reservation time?

For others information, this past Sunday, October 14th, we had our food in about 20 or 25 minutes. They were not very busy at 12:30. Every party was against the aquarium wall when we were seated, and only one party was a table away when we left after about an hour total. The swordfish was delicious, though my son insisted on having barbecue sauce on it. :-/
